Love that the TBB comic really proves when the dadification of Hunter began because prior to meeting Omega, he had no problem just showing off his arms and pecs and whatever, but the second they took her in, he's like no... no I have to wear an undershirt with this tank top
Like this is sending me
Heβs in his frat boy era in the comics. Itβs amazing he had a shirt on at all!
Genuinely still feel like TBB's (and subsequently all clones') stories got cut short. ππβ€οΈβπ©Ήβ€οΈβπ©Ήπ©·
I still feel like there's so much unanswered and a lot more to their stories that could still be explored via animated shows. TCW & TBB will forever be my top fav Star Wars tv series.
The live actions series were great, don't get me wrong; but they ultimately paled in comparison to TBB & TCW in the end.
Nothing will replace the feeling of staying up to watch each new TCW & TBB episode that came out over the years; and then immediately going to friends or online to share thoughts and fanfics, or the amount of general buzz and excitement within the fandom as we experienced new content.
I miss them all so much. πππ«Άπ©·πβ¨οΈ
Crosshair about Batcher (affectionately)
I genuinely think the first time Echo and Crosshair fought it was like the ship had been set on fire.
Their mission was shitty. It beat them into the ground and there was a lot of death in that battle and it had run them all ragged. Everyone was on edge. And Crosshair made some shitty comment that set Echo off. He was already pissed off and upset and overstimulated and Crosshair made the mistake of being a dick at the wrong time.
And Echo lashed out at him with such an intense dressing down that everyone just stared in silence as he did it. Crosshair didnβt help his case. He threw back just as many metaphorical punches and buckled down and made it worse because if someoneβs going to call him out heβll make sure it stings. Itβs going to linger, hurt when itβs thought about.
By the time it was over they both sulked on opposite ends of the ship and avoided each other like the plague. As well as snapped at the rest of the batch when they tried to even ask simple questions or dare to sit nearby.
For the next three days it was like walking around two landmines. They refused to remain in the same room as each other, wouldnβt talk to each other or anyone else. It took locking them both in the cockpit and only agreeing to let them out if they talked about it before they finally broke down and had a conversation (stubborn as hell they are.)
They arenβt good at talking, especially about their feelings, so it took some more arguing before one of them got honest. It was probably Echo who, tired of fighting, finally admitted that sometimes Crosshair crosses (lol) a line and he doesnβt let it go. And it hurt (which he begrudgingly admits after some prodding.) to which Crosshair can admit that his pride gets in the way when someone confronts him and he may have dealt some low blows.
After an awkward silence they could maybe admit that fighting with each other sucked so bad but it felt kind of impossible to patch things up. This is the fight where Echo learned Cross will only patch things up when heβs ready (and he usually has to let it get pretty bad before heβll admit any fault) and Crosshair learns that Echo can spit fire if heβs pissed and doesnβt back down from a fight.
Their fights arenβt always that bad. Although, like any people who live together 24/7, they get into spats every so often. Most of the time theyβre easy to patch up. Some deflection, a distraction, a grumbled peace offering. Crosshair also learns that if he can get Echo to laugh then heβs basically forgiven for the smaller things. Crosshair will bring a small gift in apology within the week. Itβs like clockwork. Echo has learned to expect it. And while he tries to pretend he wonβt accept the apology gift because heβs still mad he does end up softening up when he finds stupid little trinkets in his pack.
Echo just brings Crosshair food when he wants to apologize about something. Usually tossed at him with some sort of grumbling over how βthis looked gross thought youβd like itβ and it ends up being some sweet he knows Cross loves.
They may not get along 100% of the time but I like to think that the fighting ends up getting patched up in a way that is uniquely them.
Iβm going to say something that just hit me and it might not make sense but it makes sense to me in my mind.
I can see each member of the Bad Batch being a professor. Specifically the kind of professor that you remember YEARS later.
Please elaborate because I don't know them that well and I believe the elaboration would be hilarious.
All I can say now is that Wrecker would absolutely be the kind of chemistry teacher that repeatedly sets things on fire as legitimate demonstrations but is clearly getting so much joy out of it that you're kinda relieved they have a regular safe outlet for their need to burn stuff.
I agree 1000% on Wrecker he would be the absolutely iconic chemistry professor who demonstrates how things are set on fire or explode. He also would convey the material in a way thatβs fun and easy to understand, so people actually do pretty well in his class. I feel like heβd also be the kind of professor that somehow always brings baked goods or encourages students to bring baked goods because βtechnically baking is chemistryβ and also because heβs procrastinating writing a book or some articles.
Okay so now for the othersβ¦
Emerie: Omega is not the only child on this base.
Echo: So, Hunter, we have a problem.
Hunter: What?
Echo: Apparently there are likeβ¦4 other kids here besides Omega.
Hunter: β¦β¦
Echo: Hunter? Hunter did you hear me?
Crosshair: Yeah he heard you, heβs currently printing out four adoption forms.
Hunter: -in the background- Rex doesnβt get first dibs on these ones!! Whereβs my stamp!?
Crosshair: Heβs still salty that Rex wonβt let him adopt you. Even though youβre a grown man.
I miss Crosshair. I miss his big ol' grouchy face. I miss his snarky comments. I miss his silver hair. I miss his trickshots. I miss his confidence. I miss him
(Below is a very sad take on/analysis of his character development. If you donβt want the sad vibes, feel free to ignore)
Ok but in all seriousness
I was rewatching the introductory episodes for the Boys in TCW and the Energy that Cross brings to the team is insane. There is so much more banter and casual talk when heβs around. In later episodes of tbb we see the guys a lot more chill, but if you rewatch the ones in S7 of TCW, youβll notice theyβre much more talkative. This could be bc itβs before the traumatic events of order 66 or they were showing off for Rex and Cody or whatever, but I really think Crosshairβs leaving made everything unbearably quiet and serious
The worst part?
Even if Cross comes home, itβll never be the same again. He unlocked a level of darkness in himself that no one can return from. He betrayed the trust of his brothers. Thereβs now a kid on the team. They no longer serve a singular power (aside from Cid). The things that changed them all will never let them be the same lighthearted group of brothers they once were.
So yeah, I miss Crosshair too. But Crosshair is gone. At least the one we first met a while ago is. The new oneβ¦ he wonβt hit the same if the writerβs do their job well. Crosshairβs never coming back, but the new person he is could. Perhaps the things heβs gone through with the empire will deepen his character and give us a more interesting version of the playful, sassy sniper.
I suppose we can only hope
Give me a clones shenigans show as the next star wars product, itβs not a question
Rip Crosshair Bad Batch you would have loved chewing on Polly Pocket clothes and Barbie shoes π
Lost in your brown eyes
A (probably sacrilegious) concept- a painting of Echo and Omega that is reminiscent of a Madonna and Child painting.
In my mind, the Havoc Marauder is a Nissan Altima than has several dents, a bumper half hanging off, is held together by duct tape, and has a stereo with the bass boosted to the MAX.
The Remora is that one Dodge minivan with a hellcat engine.
Happy Valentine's Day!
As always, I'm spending today thinking about my ships, so of course, that means the sillies, and I came up with this idea to make Valentine's Day-themed cards for couples! So alas!
I had a lot of fun making these - it's been a while since I've drawn any of the sillies and it was fun to mess around on Canva to make the cards :P though looking for fitting fonts for their handwriting was a pain
Shoutout to @here-comes-the-moose for helping me come up with something for Hunter's!
TAY LMAO ππ
TECH NO
Would you believe me if I said that they were the first two I came up with and made me want to make cards for all the rest of them after that? I couldn't pass it up π€£
