Something that really bugs me about this fandom is the weird switch-up on TigerDove. Like, before Tigerheart's Shadow most people thought it was...well, bad, for a lot of reasons.
People seem to forget how creepy their early relationship was. Even if we put aside the fact that Dovewing was an apprentice (and before anyone says some bs about them not being that far apart in age-neither are Frostpaw and Splashtail and that one is rightfully treated as weird) he uses her for his own purposes. The dude uses his relationship with her to ransom her sister. Hell, he uses straight up SpottedThistle creepy phrases constantly saying shit like "we have a connection...you saved me so now we're bonded for life" or whatever the hell.
Even after all that, he's still not even all that great to her in his own SE. "How dare my wife raise our children to accept the ways of the outsiders that took them in!!!" Dude SHUT UP. Hell, there's a few moments in the newer books that rub me the wrong way too, like in Ivypool's Heart when he snaps at Ivypool that she "sounds like her sister" because her clan is important to her. Ah yes, this is the perfect example of a man who loves his wife
Listen; I don't care if someone likes these two. I actually quite enjoy the more fanon depiction they have of "guy who loves his wife and the wife who is actually the one running things" but it just bothers me that people act like that's what their relationship is and always was, or that it was just "a rough start".
Also it's sometimes used as an argument against saying Tigerheartstar isn't a great guy...as if loving your wife automatically makes you a good person? Dude, some of the worst people alive still loved their families, that doesn't really work. Like you can admit a character you like is a bad person you don't have to make excuses
TLDR: It bothers me when people act like this couple is and always has been super sweet and wholesome when they really weren't. Ship it if you want idc, just not for me
