Here's the thing about big portraits, they make the room look bigger. So if you're the type who loves creating an illusion of a bigger space, here's a simple way to add up to your bag of tricks.

Ah, yes! The wooden canvass. See, when you paint, you have the canvass and the wood behind it. Now, use that as your inspiration to create your next interior palette and you'll have something as remarkably gorgeous as the one in the photo. Just remember to look closely into the texture and its shade, as trivial as it may sound, they're the most important part of the design. Oh, and the blue carpet can also give you a ragged look and a beachy feel.

A simple pop of color doesn't have to stand out in order to balance out a room. Sometimes, it just needs to blend in in a way that it will fill in what's lacking in the room. Take the colour pink in the example and the wooden accent, they don't necessarily grabs your eye. It just makes the room complete.

In terms of designs, be playful as you can be. It doesn't have to be flat or anything usual, you can go as crazy as you can imagine. Just don't forget that the house is a representation of who you are, present it well.

This wooden inspired reading nook behind the living room can the the best example of harmony. Don't expect a lot of quiet time though, as it can get pretty noisy once the guys watch football.

For children who are old enough to clean their room, place their shelves alongside their bed so that it would be easy to reach. It can also double as staircase if place below each other as shown in the picture. Again, just make sure the child is old enough to be very careful.

Stalls can be a pain in the back, but they are quite nice to look at in the kitchen and dining room. A wooden stall can look great in an ebony and ivory palette. Place a plant on the table for a refreshing ambiance.

Modern accents can be confusing if confronted with contradicting features. To do this, try to make the modern furniture the centerpiece of the room as if it's a gallery art piece. Also, try to change the texture of your wall and make more timeless than old and barren. Like in the photo, you can see the wooden floor of the room and the texture of the wall, but your eyes still catch the modern touch of the staircase despite its being suppose to be out of place. Bathrooms must always give a calming vibe and a relaxing nature. Try to capture the same feeling by using wooden accents (refer to my previous posts for details on wooden design) or a wide window for light to pass through. Wooden designs and touches usually gives a rugged look to the surroundings and a more natural feeling. Upkeep, however, can be tricky so make sure to spray pesticides if it is real wood and if in case it is a sculpted cement, make sure to dust the details to preserve the texture of the design.
