you're not "accountable" to your "audience" just for being a guy with a blog. your followers are responsible for their own experience online. if they don't like what you're saying, the block button is right there.

all the new fuckers: don’t censor words in ur post with numbers, @ and punctuation signs, different letters, shit like that. not just cuz it’s absolutely fine to say weird shit and things that other places generally censor on tumblr, but also cuz there are people with screen readers, and when u unnecessarily censor things like that, it really fucks with screen readers and makes it very difficult to read.

this isn’t just a “you don’t have to” thing, it’s a “you shouldn’t”.

also it makes the blacklist function useless

pretend the word "bananas" is a common trigger and i don't want to see posts with that word, so i add it to my blacklist. if you make posts spelling it "b4n@n4$", my blacklist won't block it and i will see your triggering post.

man you guys have got to stop getting mad at people for tagging your post as whatever annoying thing. tags used to be sacred. you weren't supposed to see it. it's the culture. "Stop tagging this as [character]". No!! You have no right to make demands on me!! I can do whatever I want in the tags. to add: lots of users who migrated from, like, twitter or tiktok think reblogs are reposts–THEY’RE NOT THE SAME THING. Reblogging is good. the person who posted it still gets notified for all the notes and still gets credit for everything; now their work is just spread!

Please be aware that if you are tagging sensitive topics for the sake of other people's blacklists, you NEED TO SPELL THE WORD CORRECTLY.

Lets use the word "yellow" as an example. Let's say the word yellow means something horrible, and many people might want to filter it so that they don't see posts that mention or discuss anything to do with the word yellow.

If you tag the potentially triggering post as "y3llow" or "ye11ow" or "yell0w," then youre actually circumventing most peoples block lists. Youre making your post highly difficult to avoid by anyone who doesn't want to see that word. People have to add every possible spelling combination of the word "Y3770w" to their block lists, and even then, some that they haven't thought of will slip through their blocklist net and will give them an unpleasant surprise.

But if you just tag the post simply as "yellow," correctly spelled and with no creative letter replacements, then all anyone needs to do to avoid ever seeing that content is to add the word yellow to their blocklist.

For the love of God, PLEASE stop censoring sensitive topics in the tags. Youre not helping; youre actively hindering anyone who is trying to avoid potentially triggering topics.

trx19 is a spam account. It has five posts, two of which are copies. Two are ads. One is a cute reblog - from the person they’re asking for sponsorship connections.

That’s the entire posting history.

If your account history looks like this - or is blank - most people you follow are going to assume you’re this kind of account.

Some won’t block you. (I don’t even see notices that I have new followers. They go into a filtered folder - I can search a name to check if/when they started following me - but I don’t pay attention to them.) But those who notice a blank account following them… a lot of them will block, and this is why.

They want to cut off contact before the account sends them an ask (or twenty asks) requesting money or google-searchable connections.

Never mind that a spam blog simply following us or even just liking our posts creates a connection which is used to convince google search analytics that the website connected to that spam blog is a legitimate person with content of value, thus moving the spam bot’s rankings up the list. That’s what we’re blocking.

Some simple tips for new tumblr users:

1. Upon connecting with the client user, you, the server user, will be met with a control panel allowing you to manipulate your co-player's environment. You will find that you are allowed to deploy four items at no expense. Three of these are rather large machines, and one is a punch card.

2. It's quite possible that you have already deployed some of these items before reading this. If this is the case, and you have activated the machine called the "cruxtruder" such that it displays a countdown, YOU MUST PROCEED TO SECTION [A100] OF THIS WALKTHROUGH IMMEDIATELY. The life of the client user depends on it, and if your co-player has activated this device in your environment too, then yours does as well.

3. But if not, please refrain from doing anything with the cruxtruder, aside from merely deploying it. This will buy us some time to think things through properly, and to go over the basics of the game before you find your soft, easily-punctured head in the jaws of the lion.
