HAPPY TSUKIHIME DAY... i attempted to hallucinate a historically accurate olden days arcueid for no reason. also extra is them but 'wat if they r in america' scenario cuz i don't know why i drew that.
finally got my computer fixed so I can bother everyone with more of these
thinking more about your point re:Aevee Bee and Dan Salvato being vocal Tsukihime fans instead of Fate fans, ive come to the conclusion that it's something like, if you're a fan of Fate, you're a normal anime fan, but if you're a fan of Tsukihime, you're not only invested in visual novels, but you're also invested in type moon, and the type of passion that induces will also often be what makes someone want to make a visual novel of their own
I've got similar though slightly different thoughts yeah.
A Fate fan is a very wide net. You could be someone who's only ever seen the FGO animes, or you could be an avid visual novel reader that loves one of the most influential VN of the 2000's. Saying you're a Fate fan doesn't actually tell much.
Meanwhile if you say you're a Tsukihime fan that already narrows the type of person you are extremely. Melty Blood fans call it Melty Blood and not Tsukihime (and plenty of them have neutral to outright hostile attitudes towards Tsukihime), and the Tsukihime anime is both so obscure and so boring that the chances of someone calling themselves a fan over it is so small as to be negligible.
That usually means if you say you're a Tsukihime fan you've read the 2000 Tsukihime VN, and if you're a fan of that then you have the special sort of something wrong with you that makes you likely to make horror VNs yourself
I like how arcueid is designed specifically to have constant stranger in a strange land experiences with everything. she's like "wow! it's delicious! they made it sound good in the books, but I had no idea it'd be this sour in real life!" and she's talking about carbonated water
I really like the one-two punch they pull during her movie date with Shiki, where he tells her beforehand that "they're gonna rip off part of your ticket, but they're supposed to do that, so don't worry" - because he's known her long enough to realize she'd be confused and bothered by this.
Followed by her coming out of the movie and making an offhanded comment that tells you two things:
- She was aware, surprisingly enough, that a movie is a sort of series of "moving images"
- She was pleasantly surprised by the revelation that these moving images are arranged in an order of linear events to create a "storyline"
Nasu was so real when he was writing Tsukihime and said "I'll include a cameo of the heroine of my unpublished novel that only a handful of close friends have read"
He put his own Gregory Berrycone out for all to see
btw if you want to play Tsukihime but don't want to download it you can now read it in your browser. it even has options to warn you before an h-scene begins
I love that they tend to hang out together.
I love this
Hey Shutter, I'm just curious about something: where did Arc/Ciel as a pair and ship come from? Their interactions in Tsukihime?
It came from one of the Ciel route ends where rather than leaving, Arcueid instead forces Ciel to share Shiki with her. This later got expounded on in Melty Blood to Arcueid wanting Ciel for herself as well, with both Archetype Earth and Red Arcueid at different points telling Ciel that Arcueid has grown to really like her in spite of their constant fighting.
In Archetype Earth's arcade mode, Archetype Earth attempts to erase all of humanity in one go and restarting the world with herself on top, but plans to keep Shiki and Ciel with her in the new world. Ciel then fights with Archetype Earth for humanity.
Some of the gag manga also took this and ran with a joke that Arcueid is obsessed with Ciel's fat ass.
i said this the other day already too but its literally so fucking funny how night of wallachia is this completely outlandish take on vampires, a sentient phenomenon that physically manifests malignant rumors for a single night in order to kill entire towns in one fell swoop, a conceptual curse that cannot be killed and will continue to plague humanity as long as there are still humans alive on this earth, a monster that is by definition the worst possible thing you can imagine, and then his real body is the most vampire looking dude possible. he looks like the glock of vampires. this is a vampire that is a vampire. and to top it all off the reason he looks like a character from the cover of a bootleg castlevania game isn’t even that he’s a vampire, no other nasu vampire dresses like that, it’s that he’s an insufferable theater nerd
Artists who draw Akiha with tits are fools and cowards who will not survive the winter. She is FLAT. This game has sex scenes. We've seen her tits. It's canon. That bunny suit you're drawing her in should be falling down in the front because she has nothing to support it
Nasu names are just the next stage in evolution of names like cayleigh. I give it 10 years untill we see posts about people naming their baby Nrvnqsr
Nervenkisser uvu
every time i pull this up again, i just laugh
this should be industry standard for every VN
I need type-moon to do a Kagetsu Tohya remake after TsukiRe is done purely so I can see them try to capture this on the in-game flowchart
