To this day it blows my mind that when Naoko Takeuchi and Yoshihiro Togashi started dating, Togashi looked haggard to the point where he told an assistant that police regularly stopped him on the street for looking “suspicious”. And Ferrari-driving, couture-wearing Naoko still gave him a chance. The man was swimming in a pile of trash
looking like THIS
And he still married THIS WOMAN
His personality must be great
@nightstitcher that picture never fails to kill me. Like...the scene in hxh greed island arc with the trash...that was real...
Her taste is exquisite to say the least
let people be haters if you dont like haters then take ur own advice and block us. i will always enjoy hating and no one can stop me
also just because you hate on something doesnt mean u think it shouldnt exist. then i wouldnt be able to have fun hating it
if your hater ways are making u miserable then probably take a step back. but healthy productive haterism is so important to developing taste and also probably it makes you a better writer and also it makes you sexier
I do tend to block people like OP and ofc people are entitled to their opinions about anything but I just don’t understand what kind of person derives joy from being intentionally and obsessively negative about stuff. It’s an exhausting personality to be around I’ll tell you that for free
shrugs! different strokes for different folks. if i know someone is not down for haterade i dont serve it to them. i have many tender hearted friends with what i would consider to be bad taste and i still love them and im not gonna go up to someone having a good time with hate because i can generally read a room LOL. keeping in mind im just talking about inconsequential entertainment here and not like, hating actual human beings, or righteous hate that comes from injustice.
idk if you actually wanna understand why someone might derive joy from being a hater, but for me it’s generally out of a drive to want to make things better and to critically examine things within the context of society and how they were made. it also makes finding things i truly love so much more satisfying because my standards are specific!
i love media criticism and analysis and so tearing something to shreds is a great time in my own space and with people who are down for that. for me its like mst3k, all in good fun and not with any sort of actual malice because i know how hard it is to make something good. and i dont think making bad media makes someone a bad person lol. plus sometimes bad things are way more entertaining because quipping with your friends and not taking things seriously makes for a fun gathering!
it genuinely is not a judgement on people who enjoy things uncritically, though if you are sensitive enough to take it personally when someone hates something we probably won’t become close friends cause i feel like i will have to temper my true feelings about stuff and i will avoid those discussions out of respect. the amount of times i have bitten my tongue is A LOT…. so having a place to let loose and rant about something that doesnt matter is important to me!
Im not writing this for any particular reason it just kinda Struck Me like a Bolt from Zeus all of a sudden, but it's Weird growing up with a second-generation Foodie as a parent cuz like: you'll go out to eat with a friend one time and they'll take you to (circa 2003)Kentucky Fried Chicken, with its busted-ass mashed potatoes incompletely reconstituted from mix and its seasoning all loose on the chicken-skin and its Cold Chalky french fries, and you'll be like "My Friend -- Beloved!! -- You Live Like This???" And they DO unu unu unu
As discussed previously on this blog, you can't taste food as well in space, probably because of the fluid shift. Apparently Salyut-6 ran experiments trying to understand this phenomenon by... running an electrical current through a cosmonaut's taste nerves.
when i was a teen i thought everything popular sucked and was only interested in consuming media that was pretty obscure, you'd probably never heard of it. in my twenties i'd matured and grown out of this, because popular things are popular for a reason even if they aren't for me. now i'm in my thirties and i'm back to thinking everything popular sucks but the confusing part is while lots of people seem to agree with me they think it's a new development.
surprisingly few people got defensive on this post but the ones who did are still very funny to me as a shameless lover of garbage. loving things only if they don't suck is weak bitch behavior imho. go watch/read/listen to something incomprehensible that nonetheless delights you utterly and try to get your friends to join you when half of what you're saying about it is how fucking bad it is.
the thing you have to learn about yourself is whether you are more forgiving of shit that sucks because it's been focus-grouped to hell and back for maximum corporate polish, or shit that sucks out of the creator's earnest desire to do something well beyond their skill level.
The other thing I have realized in my efforts today is that not only do Dracula and Mina have similar tastes in women, and men, they seem to have similar tastes in everything. Architecture. Trains. Everything. It's uncanny
Mina, languishing:
Mina has a seething hatred of Dracula for the absolute pettiest of reasons but she is being So Brave About It but then she reads the diary and is like OH THANK GOD we have to kill him.
This is definitely because of Lucy's murder and Jonathan's imprisonment and not because he bought the last model train set she was eyeing for her collection. Definitely.
Mina, firing new holes in Dracula: This is for Jonathan! -bang- This is for Lucy! -bang- And this is for the limited edition single run gold-trim Central Pacific 'Jupiter' UP No. 119 - American Type model!
Dracula, spitting blood: It rolls so smooth on the tracks. Not that you'd know.
Mina, eyes blazing, barrel to his head: Play with it in Hell. -bang-
"oh you think that liking animated kids movies as an adult is cringe? don't you know some people are AUTISTIC" you know you can just like a movie, right? why are u wrangling a completely reasonable defense of your taste into mental health advocacy?? it doesn't fit
I do think a lot of discussions of media could be improved by people’s willingness to say “yeah that’s a legit read but I don’t vibe with it personally for x/y/z reasons”. Like sometimes things can kind of be read one of two ways but one’s going to be much more appealing to you than the other and that’s fine! You don’t have to argue that your selection of evidence is objectively correct whereas other people’s is not, it’s actually perfectly okay if the deciding factor in your interpretation is taste. This is meant to be about enjoyment after all.
There is such relief in saying "Yeah but I don't like that read very much" or "Yeah but that's a very boring/upsetting way of looking at it" instead of making your whole fandom personality about arguing your view ought to claim unambiguous victory in the interpretation thunderdome. It's very cool and sexy to realize that you could look at the story in a way you hate and it would make sense, but it still wouldn't become the only way that makes sense. So you can just choose to Not Do That. Own your tastes!
I read that capsaicin makes your mouth feel like it’s burning because it increases your nerve sensitivity to heat, and menthol works by doing the same thing to cold
So if I eat a habanero pepper and then chew a bunch of breath mints they’ll each other out and I’ll be fine
Hey guess what hellfire tastes like
Fun fact! The nerve endings for “ouch too hot” and “ouch too cold” are different! Which means that they can both be activated at once, without cancelling out. Rip OP.
If you want to see more exciting & interesting queer art you're going to have to support independent queer creators and look at the stuff they make.
Y'know how The Owl House is such a great show, but they put one trans character and one lesbian romance in there and the Mouse was like "nah" and tried to hamstring the entire thing?
Imagine, if you will, a world where the Mouse just isn't involved at all
That world exists already in a thousand thousand beautiful variations. You only haven't heard of it because none of us have the budget for marketing.
I had a conversation with an anarcho-sybdicalist friend about whether The Owl House was moral because of the way it was produced and who is profiting from it. And it hit me as we talked that, for me at the time, the medium of animation was a large portion of the enjoyment of TOH. And that got me thinking about how difficult it is for indie queer creators to gain any foothold. Because, I can write a queer and trans novel, but it's not going to reach the same audience as TOH, not just because of marketing, but because I cannot leverage entire animation studios to put my story in a medium people want to engage with.
This isn't a "touch grass" message about how people should stop watching kids' cartoons to get queer stories, but it is sad to realize I had so easily fallen into the trap of thinking an animated queer story was inherently more entertaining than a novel or comic or any other more democratized medium.
Animation can be democratized, but it's got the same problem as AAA video games. Both games and animations studios leverage their power and resources to make "the best of the best". Artistically, it sets the bar of quality to a degree that no indie animation group could ever compete with - in terms of length, finished art, voice acting, sound design, etc. We have no problem watching poorly filmed tiktok videos done on cellphones, but almost no one consumes animatics: an early cut of a storyboarded animation with sound, usually in black and white, with no animation break downs. Animatics are like single pictures with dialogue over them, and the pictures don't move that much.
People also don't watch black and white animation, which is much easier to make. Or boiled line/sketchy animation.
Everyone could be watching amazing queer animated stories if you all got into art where the hand of the artist is visible. Commercial entertainment works hard to erase the thousands of hands that go into it, and the expectation in animation is that the artist isn't present at all. Democratized art means accepting and expecting the artist to be present in the roughness of the presentation, including their skill weaknesses. If you can accept awkward, unedited grammar in indie writing (I've read some fanfiction, you all put up with a lot), and terrible lighting/sound in a tiktok video, then ask yourself why you don't accept raw animation or video games. You're missing out.
the thing about "cock is one of my favorite tastes" is cock doesnt even really have a distinctive taste. it just tastes like skin! it should be "cum is one of my favorite tastes". iirc the original copypasta was a joke but joke should rest in truth

I think what people mean when they say cock taste is the precum mixxed with your own saliva. That's pretty tasty.
@raginrayguns said:
i also love tasting precum. It makes me feel like im doing a good job and also reminds me somehow of how pussy tastes. I wonder if they're really similar flavors or if it's just the situation
hell yeah
theyre produced by homologous glands! precum is mostly produced by the bulbourethral glands and vaginal lubrication is partially produced by bartholin's glands
Griddlehark coffee break!
The short lived moment of Gideon admiring her necromancer genuinely enjoying some sweets. Careful of that paint job, not the most pleasant tasting thing..
Gideon laughs in mid sip and makes a mess.
Wanna support a poor, poor artist? <:’D?
oohh my goddd who cares if people are mainly getting their music taste from tiktok? who CARES if this sixteen-year-old nonbinary kid has a frog hat and a hastily put together pseudo goth wardrobe and a playlist full of mother mother and lemon demon? who careeessss it doesn't MATTER why are you trying to hard to pull a "I'm not like those other gays, I have real taste" WHO CARES???

Tonight’s terrible space fact brought to you by me having spicy fish for dinner:
Because of more fluids being retained in the upper body, astronauts’ sense of taste is affected - like being stuffed up when you have a cold. Hot sauce, honey, and other strongly flavored condiments are in high demand.
