RIP Greg Hildebrandt 1939 - 2024. Very sad to hear the last of the legendary Hildebrandt brothers has left us. Art by Greg and both brothers Greg and Tim Hildebrandt #greghildebrandt
Space Crowd Saturday doesn’t have to be all scum and villainy: Here’s a tasteful scene of a family enjoying ice cream cones with their bug-alien pals. It’s Michael Whelan’s cover to “With Friends Like These…,” by Alan Dean Foster, published Dec 1977.
Reading Pride of Chanur, and I came across this wonderful Michael Whelan concept art of Pyanfar Chanur, the protagonist of the books. (I love the Whelan covers for this series - they really nail the look of the hani as Cherryh describes them.) Pyanfar’s body language is just so good here - it’s the perfect blend of confident/in control and just a little bit cocky, and I love the little details like the thing she’s doing with her toes. Lion-women spaceship captains FTW!
I got a commission done by @c-rowlesdraws of Branka and I am over the moon 🥰 Thank you so much!!!
You're so welcome!! Everyone look at this adorable krogan lady I got to draw!

Pictured is a wrinkly blob with irregular coils and tendrils. It has extruded four legs for jogging.
