I've been thinking of nothing but the harris campaign for days and I still can't fully comprehend that it was real
i ran some numbers last night and they spent 9.5 million dollars a day to tell everyone that dick cheney was brat. one billion dollars spent in 107 days and they still ended up twenty million in debt by the end. they could have paid each person who actually voted for them 14 bucks and it would have been over fourteen million dollars cheaper. they sent skeletal pedophile bill clinton to michigan to tell arab muslims that palestinians brought this on themselves. they tried to court black voters by talking about cryptocurrency(?!). everyone involved in that campaign needs to be in fucking prison.
if anyone tries to tell you that wokeness lost this election then morally speaking you can drag them into the street and beat them to death in front of their families
and it’s not like no one was telling her either
like this is the supposed coalition she was appealing to and even he was like this is dog shit
it’s the same level of arrogance that biden displayed thinking he could run again as a visibly deteriorating genocidier. i’m not going to pretend that usamericans are even remotely a majority peaceful populace but they do hate the *optics* as liberals often do. also this perceived issue of *their* tax dollars going towards war as if the us doesn’t regularly pull money out of its ass for israel. also i believe i heard one of these campaign managers worked for hillary clinton’s campaign so ummm yeah makes sense.

Another good RS article on this
it's linked in the above, but I figured I'd include it for ease of access.
Hmm I wonder if I can link TWO articles in a tumblr post...
In Los Angeles, one of the queerest cities in the United States, there are surprisingly few spaces where trans masculine individuals can find solidarity and community. For some, trying to fit into queer spaces after transitioning can be an isolating experience once they start to pass as men. “In general, people can’t necessarily look at me and know that I’m trans,” says Devyn Payne, jumping rope outside to warm up ahead of his match. It’s now different for him to enter LGBTQ+ rooms where lesbians might read him as a straight man or gay men might not recognize him as trans. “Passing as a Black man, my experience has been different in sapphic spaces ... I don’t necessarily feel welcomed [anymore].” The 27-year-old used to wrestle competitively in high school, but three years after coming out as trans he is now rediscovering his joy in the sport and reconnecting with the queer community in a different way — tonight by wrestling another trans man in a neon green jock strap under the alter ego “T-Payne.”
“Before I went to my first Trans Dudes of LA event, I had no trans men friends,” Payne says. “I can’t necessarily relate to [cisgender men]. So it’s great to have people who I can talk about the changes of being on testosterone.” [...] In this room full of transgender people, the weight of a gender binary disappears. Masculinity becomes play material, a performance to bend and break. People dressed for the part exude “Brokeback Mountain” homo-eroticism, another pair act out a construction worker role-play in a BDSM scene in which a plastic hammer is shoved in the mouth. Cal Dobbs, dressed for the part as a judge for the tournament, wears a white wig reminiscent of the founding fathers and a thong under his black robes. (“RBG, classic sex symbol,” Dobbs explained of his costume inspiration from the late Supreme Court Justice.) “Trans men and trans masculine people are redefining masculinity,” says the 27-year-old, who was the first trans person to run across the transcontinental United States. “[Wrestling] is a hyper masculine sport, [but the competitors] bring an element of humor and romance and cuteness to it that makes everyone feel really comfy and safe.” [...] In the weeks leading up to the big performance, Elías Naranjo and Arón Sánchez-Vidal had practiced their wrestling routine weekly for a month, familiarizing themselves with consent and boundaries to make sure they wouldn’t hurt each other. “I was asking them, ‘Is it OK if we kiss? Is it OK if I pick you up and grind on you?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, I’m open to it,’ ” says Naranjo. But on the spot the two also decided to improvise as Sánchez-Vidal took his testosterone shot on the wrestling mat — a moment met with thunderous applause. The two entered the ring waving Mexican and Peruvian flags dressed as vaqueros. “EL VAQUERO... STR8 4 PAY?” read a sign that Sánchez-Vidal’s girlfriend had made to cheer on her partner. “There’s so much in being brown and trans and queer,” says Naranjo. “We want to show up and take up space ... we’re Peruvian, hot and trans.” The two won best partners, splitting a $150 cash prize at the end of the tournament. Inclusiveness was on the forefront of co-organizers Miller and Bandrowski’s minds as they planned this event. They prepped over 200 hot dogs to feed their hungry fans, a hot and heavy playlist to rally their attendees, and hired ASL interpreters to make the event accessible for deaf members of the queer community. This was their biggest event yet.
On Monday, the Knesset passed two bills; one barring UNRWA from activity within Israel, and another banning Israeli authorities from any contact with UNRWA – revoking the 1967 treaty that allows UNRWA to provide services to Palestinian refugees in areas under Israel’s control.
The move is expected to severely restrict the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) from operating in territories Israel occupies.
You might think that I'm joking when I say that we need cyborg rights to be codified into law, but I honestly think that, given the pace of development of medical implants and the rights issues raised by having proprietary technologies becoming part of a human body, I think that this is absolutely essential for bodily autonomy, disability rights, and human rights more generally. This has already become an issue, and it will only become a larger issue moving forwards.
No but seriously we need cyborg rights, in case you don't know how many people count as cyborgs here are some examples;
- People with cochlear implants are cyborgs
- People with pacemakers are cyborgs
- People with insulin pumps are cyborgs
There are even edge cases revolving around how much electricity and integration into the body are necessary to make someone a cyborg.
- People with replacement hips or other bones are by some definitions cyborgs
- People with implanted medical devices such as artificial valves or stents are by some definitions cyborgs
- People with prosthetic limbs are by some definitions cyborgs
- People with ostomy bags are by some definitions cyborgs
- People in wheel chairs, electric or not, are by some definitions cyborgs
The list could go on but I think I made my point that cyborgs are a lot more than just people with robot arms, they are the disabled deserving of the rights to the technology their lives literally depend on.
This is needed.
Earlier this year, a woman was forcibly deprived of a brain implant that was treating her epilepsy because the company that made the implant went bankrupt. Here's a link to one of several articles about it:
This story happened back in the 2010s according to the first article but is still relevant. Also if my cochlears were repossessed by the company for some asinine reason I would literally stop being able to do 80% of the things I do and my future would be ruined. Cyborg rights are necessary and should have been codified decades ago
There are also people with prosthetic eyes that went dark when the software company that managed them went bankrupt.
We need a set of rights that say, "if your software is installed in LIVING HUMAN BEINGS, you have a legal obligation to maintain it, and when/if your company dissolves or can no longer maintain it, that software becomes open source and may be freely picked up by other people to manage."
(eyeroll) Wow, that's us put in our place, huh.

Court filings show that a company called Gametech Holdings filed a “notice of opposition” against Nguyen with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in late 2023, seeking to invalidate his claim on the “Flappy Bird” name. When Nguyen, who lives in Vietnam, didn’t respond to that notice by November, the US Patent and Trademark Office entered a default judgment against him and officially canceled his trademark in January, allowing Gametech to legally claim the name.
So if you've ever wondered how trademark and patent acts as a tool of US imperialism and Capitalist class-dominance, here's a good example |:T
“I see the trap,” […]“I see the lifestyle that is so all-encompassing that you can’t get out of it. I see the systematized denial of agency and options so that you might wake up one day and want to be out of it, but you’ve closed door after door after door so that there’s no one there to help you. There’s not a bank account to turn to. There’s no agency to just start asking questions or to change your life, if you decide you want something different.
“And that really underscores why this is not just an alternative lifestyle choice,” she says. “It is part of a movement.”
“Patriarchy needs women to perpetuate it, so it grooms our participation, and then it holds us there with the guilt of our complicity, and then we become perpetrators. So it’s like the cycle that just keeps going.
“I always call this the cult without walls, and the members are really used to being isolated in plain sight – so they will be your neighbors or someone you see at the grocery store or the park, and they feel alone and separate,” she says, “Try to connect, try to engage in conversation … because if they can trust you, you might be the one they ask for help when it’s time to get out.”
I don’t normally post this kind of stuff and I know it’s kind of off topic for my animal blog but I still think this is a very important article and one that I think really nails the reasons why the tradwife movement is so dangerous. I know farmblr talked about it when ‘cottagecore’ and ‘farmcore’ first became popular, and I know a lot of people also talked about the racist and colonialist roots of a lot of those ‘aesthetics’. It scares me to see how big tradwife stuff has gotten even in the last year, it is huge on Instagram. I hope Tia’s book reaches the people that it will help the most, even the minimal details in this article were absolutely chilling to read.
Oh. Oh that was so so fucking smart. Oh my god. Hell yes. HELL YES.
Hey has tumblr heard about the Chase “Infinite Money glitch” debacle from tiktok yet because
I cannot believe
I cannot believe that people actually tried this
And even less can I believe that they’re going full Karen to Chase customer service workers. Like you did check fraud. You did a crime. You don’t get to complain about the consequences.
Wait like some people don’t know
So there was a glitch in Chase’s check deposit system. Usually when you cash a check, only a fraction of the full amount is available to you immediately until the check clears. The glitch made it so you could cash a checks full amount right away no matter how big.
So. People were writing themselves massive checks and immediately withdrawing cash they technically didn’t have and then closing their bank account. They were calling it an “infinite money glitch” like it’s the Sims or something.
But it’s not like a cheat code that was suddenly discovered. It’s just check fraud. It’s just straight up a felony. And a good chunk of them filmed themselves doing it.
So people are waking up finding they’re in the negative however many thousands of dollars they pulled.
What BAFFLES me is that people are calling Chase demanding their accounts be reopened, demanding their money back. Work from home Chase agents have shared the calls they’ve been getting from people angry they’re in the red. Like it’s not your money anymore, love, you STOLE it and they took whatever you had originally to try to pay the balance back!! That’s not yours anymore!
People are being SNIPPY on tiktok when people tell them that they did a CRIME. This one lady was like “you don’t know the law, my lawyer knows the law” and it’s like honey! Your lawyer is going to do his fuckin best but you did a crime and then you FILMED YOURSELF. You’re going to jail! Now is the time to start practicing what my therapist calls radical acceptance!
So that’s the tea on the money glitch. Most banks are giving them 30 days to pay the amount back but some people I’ve heard are already being arrested.
Corporate America Never Really Quit Forced Labor
Inmates do billions of dollars of work for companies and governments each year. A landmark lawsuit alleges many are being kept in prison because the business is just too good.
Excerpt from this New York Times story:
The connections are commonsense but the conclusion is shocking.
Bats eat insects. When a fatal disease hit bats, farmers used more pesticides to protect crops. And that, according to a new study, led to an increase in infant mortality.
According to the research, published Thursday in the journal Science, farmers in affected U.S. counties increased their use of insecticides by 31 percent when bat populations declined. In those places, infant mortality rose by an estimated 8 percent.
“It’s a seminal piece,” said Carmen Messerlian, a reproductive epidemiologist at Harvard who was not involved with the research. “I actually think it’s groundbreaking.”
The new study tested various alternatives to see if something else could have driven the increase: Unemployment or drug overdoses, for example. Nothing else was found to cause it.
Dr. Messerlian, who studies how the environment affects fertility, pregnancy and child health, said a growing body of research is showing health effects from toxic chemicals in our environment, even if scientists can’t put their fingers on the causal links.
“If we were to reduce the population-level exposure today, we would save lives,” she said. “It’s as easy as that.”
The new study is the latest to find dire consequences for humans when ecosystems are thrown out of balance. Recent research by the same author, Eyal Frank, an environmental economist at the University of Chicago, found that a die-off of vultures in India had led to half a million excess human deaths as rotting livestock carcasses polluted water and spurred an increase in feral dogs, spreading waterborne diseases and rabies.
“We often pay a lot of attention to global extinctions, where species completely disappear,” Dr. Frank said. “But we start experiencing loss and damages well before that.”
HOLY SHIT UK LETS FUCKING GOOOOO
You should really consider renaming it "the house of some fucking guys" or "the house of Clive from down the way" instead though. Don't answer now! Think about it. Let it marinate, you'll love it
Oooh. Link to the article and more details below.
"The government is proposing to banish all remaining hereditary peers from the House of Lords in the biggest shake-up of parliament in a quarter century.
The UK’s 92 remaining hereditary peers – who have inherited their titles from their parents – will lose their right to sit and vote in the upper chamber under proposals put forward by ministers on Thursday [September 5, 2024].
The move would complete reforms first made by Tony Blair’s government, which revoked the 700-year-old right of all hereditary peers to sit in the Lords in 1999. Just 92 of them, elected from the whole group, were allowed to remain until an agreement could be reached to phase them out altogether.
All 92 hereditary peers who now hold seats in the Lords are white men, and their average age is just under 70. They have continued to top up their numbers by holding byelections when one of them retires or dies.
Campaigners have long called for the system to be overhauled. In its manifesto, Labour said the continued existence of hereditary peers was “indefensible”.
The government’s bill will mean that there will no longer be any hereditary peers in the upper chamber. The earl marshal and the lord great chamberlain, who had been expected to keep their seats because of their ceremonial functions, will also be removed.
The bill is likely to become law sometime next year, and will fulfil a Labour manifesto commitment.
Nick Thomas-Symonds, minister for the constitution, said this was “a landmark reform”.
“The hereditary principle in law-making has lasted for too long and is out of step with modern Britain,” he said. “The second chamber plays a vital role in our constitution and people should not be voting on our laws in parliament by an accident of birth.”"

the name of the piece is "Replica of a Chip", and it was woven by Marilou Schultz. here is a good blog post about the piece, the weaver's current work, and a history of the Navajo nation's involvement in the semiconductor industry:
The weaving is accurate enough to determine that it represents a specific Pentium variant, called P54C.
Holy god
Hey, so, uh... What the fuck? Who is a) importing Przewalski's horses into the US and b) selling them at livestock auctions as mules or just surrendering them to rescues?
(For reference, there are about 2500 Przewalski's horses in the world. They are considered one of the last truly wild horses (and may even be a separate subspecies from the domestic horse). Their numbers dwindled to as few as 40 individuals in the 1950s to about 2500 today. About half are in captivity with zoos and conversation programs.)
