buck sleeping for most of their down time at the station is honestly heartbreaking. the santa anas were hitting, sure, but he was waiting for connor and kameron to call him and the loft was already too barren for him to even try and rest. he feels at ease only at the station, where his family is, and where it’s okay if he finds out there is no baby because he’s not alone alone there. when he finds out there is going to be a baby, he first tells his family, gets out the lafd onesie he had already bought and finally sleeps - surrounded once again by what he perceives as a part of his family. he’s trying to connect his real people with the fantasy of a new family as much as possible, but they’re on different planes of reality, so out of synch, so wrong. and it’s honestly heartbreaking.
