anyway the way i think this manifests after he and eddie get together isn't him growling and spitting at anyone who flirts with eddie. it's him anxiously doing The Most Ever to be the best boyfriend in the world at every moment at all times to the exclusion of his own feelings or enjoyment, and the only saving grace is that eddie knows him well enough to sit him down and be like, hey. you don't have to do all this, i'm not going anywhere
