I’m sorry I love 911 y’all but the absolute lack of realism when chimney was impaled by the weight of a whole ass gurney (and person on it), combined with the amount of blood gushing out of it, only for him to only require a single night in hospital and a few scans?? like writers/decision makers if you’re gonna give us whump, provide the realistic goods or don’t bother.

[Image ID: three gifs of Evan Buckley, Chimney Han and Maddie Buckley from 9-1-1 episode 6.18, “Pay It Forward” :

GIF 1: Buck sighing in relief as a new ambulance unit pulls up, breathing hard as he turns to look down at Chim, who nods up at him.

GIF 2: Maddie listening with bated breath as Buck’s voice crackles over her radio, tears glimmering in her eyes as they roll up with relief, her mouth pursing in an attempt to hold back tears. The text reads, “Dispatch. I’ve got Firefighter Han.”

GIF 3: Maddie steeling herself, pushing past the tears as she firmly responds to Buck, saying “Copy that.” Her mouth briefly forms into a pout.

as much as the Natalia storyline annoys me because it feels out-of-place, I don’t actually think that the couch thing is “regressing” or “Buck making the same mistakes again.”

The couch metaphor started because Buck’s last two girlfriends CAME with couches. As in, they forced their own preferences/taste onto him without him giving any input. The same with the couch Margaret bought him. He had no real say in it, she just got it FOR him. At least with Natalia, it’s something they’re going to do TOGETHER, as in they both get a say, they both make the decision as a team. And that IS progress, even though I still think it wasn’t the right choice for Buck’s overarching storyline

If they’re choosing it together, which is good, what do you think will end up making it be the wrong couch?

I kind of think the couch metaphor is done being a thing tbh! Like it started at the beginning of s6 and the payoff for it came at the end of s6. I don’t see them dragging it out further

It so important that Buck, who was engineered to be a match to his brother, who probably looked like him, got to hold a boy who's half him and accept that the kid is fine and that his DNA is not flawed and he's not defective. So important that he got to look at that baby and accept some things about himself.

buddie | buck is chris's dad, awkward double dates, getting together | 5k, gen

Buck opened his mouth, and without conscious input from his brain, said, “we should go on a double date sometime.” Buck couldn’t see Eddie’s face well enough to make out an emotion, but the silence that met him felt like it stretched out a little too long.
“Yeah,” Eddie coughed out finally, “yeah, that would be fun. We should.”
“It’s a date, then,” Buck said, and he turned over onto his back, wondering why he had asked; wondering why it felt like, suddenly, he needed to put a few more inches of space between them.
or, Buck and Eddie go on a double date with their girlfriends, and everyone realizes who they actually want to be on dates with instead.

this is from the "comfort for others" prompt, "sleep, it's all right. I'll keep watch." from @messyhairdiaz thank you! <333

post 6x18: some out-of-order vignettes
4251 words

“Buck,” said Eddie, trying to school his face into something less fond and amused. “That’s my couch.”

Buck turned from where he’d been happily showing off the new piece of furniture he’d gotten with Natalia the day prior. “What?”

“The couch,” Eddie repeated, with a quirk of his eyebrow. “You bought my exact couch.”

“No,” Buck replied with a shake of his head. “No, it’s definitely different.”

post-6x18 coda, Buck & Bobby make breakfast

You ok?

Bobby taps on the notification that brings up his text thread with Buck, dozens of the same call and response going back months and months.

All good kid, Bobby’s fingers type out in a practiced rhythm. As soon as the little ‘delivered’ appears underneath his words his phone starts vibrating, Buck’s name flashing across his screen.

“Buck?” Bobby aims for a casual greeting, but because it’s Buck it comes out mostly concerned.

“Y-yeah, hi.” Buck’s irregular breathing on the other end doesn’t really help with the concern, but he continues before Bobby can say anything. “I didn’t wake you up, did I?”

“Well considering I texted you back before you called,” Bobby says, and laughs a little bit so that Buck knows he’s joking, “I’d say you didn’t.”

“Oh, ok. That’s, uh. It's good that I didn’t wake you. Or anything.”

Bobby’s brow furrows. “Everything ok, kid?”

“Yeah, I–uh. I’m just kind of in your driveway,” is what Buck says after a minute of silence.
