Imagine Sherlock after the reveal that Mycroft has been under Moriarty’s thumb the whole time. How he turns to his brother with wide, disbelieving eyes. “But, why… why not tell me in the first place?”

Mycroft gives a choked, hollow laugh in response as Moriarty leers silently. “Well, that’s just it, isn’t it,” is all Mycroft says.

And, in the last deceitful calm before the storm, this is the closest we come to seeing Mycroft lose his composure. His eyes shine just a little too brightly for it to be attributed to a trick of the light.
