I love talking during movies I’ll pause the movie to talk more during it I don’t care emergency meeting
when hayao miyazaki said that true love was two people inspiring each other to live…recognizing just how hard living is, putting one foot in front of the other every day, how easy it is to lose our passion for it…… that’s the real shit
exactly. 😂
i love that it’s pikachu saying this bc pikachu attained freedom by electrocuting the fuck out of ash and outright refusing to get into the fucking pokeball
Can we talk about how white ppl take words like "woke" and completely change the meaning? The term was used by Black ppl long before they got a hold of it and all it meant was to stay aware. Now white ppl just use it for everything.
Just like “canceled”. They butchered the shit out of that too.
“Thicc”
“Shade” “ tea”
"Period" "Sis" "Pooh"
I hated to see woke and cancelled be turned into what they turned it into. I refuse to let go of words we have made and ACTUALLY used in our daily language after they've finished misusing and discarding them. This is absolutely why I never explain things to them. If they don't know, they ain't finding out from my Black ass. The way I've watched them ruin things over the years. Naw. I'm not participating.
It's gotten really annoying. Since when has chile been pronounced as chilly? And no it's not a pepper either.
I will playfully "whew chillay" because of that one white girl that was looking stupid on the webs, but every auntie in my life has LITERALLY said "Chile" for AT LEAST the 38 years I've been alive. SAME FOR BAE. Bae BEEN a word in my Black ass community. And then it... Became an acronym? Bitch whet?
An acronym?! For what?! They stay doing something. This is why we say don't touch our stuff!
Reading all of this, I never knew those words came from the black community so yay, educational. But did anyone ever consider telling white people what the words mean or where they came from instead of shrieking about it on the internet?
America is a smorgasbord (see?) of stolen words, cultures, ideas and peoples, things are always taken from other places but the constant bickering about “that’s my word” might wanna stick to words white people REALLY shouldn’t use, I think you know the ones. I won’t say them, type them...cause I have to read them in my head and I can’t do that. (It’s a synesthesia thing, the words even taste as bad as they sound)
If you start telling white people they can’t use words because they’re “yours” you come out looking like the asshole. Our language (and I mean the US as a whole, not just white people) has developed over the years picking out words from everywhere and using them. Biscuits, chips, tea, bae...they’re just words adopted into the language. If a white person isn’t using the word correctly, TELL THEM.
Or...do you not know what they mean either?
Ok yeah. This what we not finna do. Not today. When white ppl have their own languages stripped from them then they MIGHT be able to say something but until then just stop. I literally was educating you and then you go an say this? No white ppl can't use AAVE just like non black POC can't use it. You use it as a tool to make fun of us or to sound "cool". Meanwhile we get called unintelligent and told "speak proper english." You can take this dumb pov of yours and butt out of Black ppl's business. Period.
It’s what they do best.
I remember seeing some white dude talk about how people need to stop saying jam/bop.
Basic. I'll never forgive Cosmopolitan for Columbusing that shit because it was mad at black fem tumblr
I need this shirt
WHY DID THEY EVEN HOP ON THIS POST LIKE WE OWE THEM LINGUISTIC LESSONS?!?!?

11.27.20. Los Angeles
LASD spent the night before thanksgiving forcibly removing a family from a state-owned home. Police arrived with military gear to remove a family who had been squatting in the vacant home. Protesters at the eviction were unable to stop the police, but they have been begun protesting outside Mayor Garcetti’s home.
A reminder that in nearly every US city, the “housing crisis” is artificially produced through collaboration among real estate developers, landlords, and Democrat & Republican politicians, carried out by overfunded police. There is no scarcity, so capitalists create an illusion of it.
I’m about to have a seizure
This is how they woke up Captain America
Man was like
OH MY GOD ABDJAKJFKWL
IDK if you already saw this but the US military made guide for how to respond to "what's your favorite war crime?"
This can save lives of many Black people who were wrongly convicted and arrested on drug possession charges. Please spread!

there is tons of good commentary on how american individualism / general refusal to accept social responsibility is driving COVID transmission in the US. however! consider this: the conflation of illness with guilt/dirtiness is also pernicious.
there are people who think being asked to wear a mask is an insult. there are people who, if they like you, will make a show of waving away precautions because they trust you! they trust that you’re not dirty! you don’t have to wear a mask with them! it’s a mentality that, in my experience, can transcend political affiliation.
this attitude keeps people from accurately assessing and then mitigating risk. it keeps people from reporting what risky contact they have had. it keeps people from seeking testing or treatment. illness shouldn’t be moralized in this way.
“How bad is it, doc? Give it to me straight.” “I… I’m afraid I can’t do that.”
