I feel like both Shang Qinghua and Mobei Jun are naturally touch adverse but also are now touch starved due to trauma

So they end up having scheduled cuddle time as a couple because they can only handle physical affection in small bursts when they know to expect it (Mobei throwing Shang Qinghua over his shoulder like a sack of grain doesn't count. That's just more efficient)

Like Shang Qinghua is going through Mobei's schedule and is like "and after court I have penciled in a quick hug if that is satisfactory. I have a longer cuddle session scheduled for after dinner."

Some decade before the tianxi era TLJ has a one night stand with a male demon who gets pregnant. Surprise! it's airplane who wanted a taste of that doomed heavenly pillar. He's older than MBJ in this au and hasn't had the chance to meet young MBJ yet. MBJ has enough on his plate without some random older demon howering around him. SQH is many things a creep he is not, thank you very much.

So instead he gets pregnant by TLJ, has a cry session, wonders if he's going to birth the protagonist, cries some more over all the death flags he has raised for himself, and then just accepts his fate. TLJ doesn't care much about this little surprise, it was just a one night stand after all. However, his advisors have been nagging him about getting hitched and producing heirs, so he sees his chance to finally getting rid of one problem by throwing the other one at it. Very clever indeed!

SQH becomes TLJs first concubine. SQH does not become empress, but until TLJ marries further, he's as good as one. So SQH (with babybump proudly on display) starts fixing up TLJs court, all administrative tasks, and generally making it run smoother than it has for generations. TLJ is happy as can be, finally he can leave his empire for months on end to follow his true calling, reading and watching every human romance story that has ever been produced!

AU where, after throwing Luo Binghe into the abyss and Shen Qingqiu stops eating because the food on his peak is too bland, he discovers that a. Shang Qinghua is a good cook and b. that it's very similar to Binghe's cooking. He decides to have his meals over on An Ding, which confuses his fellow peak lords, but they are also very relieved because he is actually eating.

Finally, introducing Linguang-Jun, Mobei-Jun's forever scheming backstabbing uncle. He has never forgotten how his right to inherit Northern Desert Pharmaceuticals was passed to his nephew instead. Even though he has quite a high position of power in the company, he is dissatisfied and is constantly finding new ways to sabotage and get rid of his nephew and that irritatingly loyal lapdog of his for good. The point is that they don't fall into the trap of an oppressive society

Svsss power dynamics are absolutely wild, and I've seen another post mention that already, about how every time you think you're seeing a fucked up dynamic, it's actually three layers deeper and flipped and more imbalanced than you could ever imagine

But the point! Is that they live in an environment that is Always giving each character some power over the other person in the relationship! And none of them ever use it

The novel is critiquing these power trip fantasies and the exploitation often seen as inherent in porn and BL and wish fulfillment stories

Sqq was lbh's teacher. There is often abuse inherent in the teacher/student dynamic. Sqq never even considers lbh as a romantic option until they have been apart for years and there is no age gap

Lbh has a tracking device on sqq and the ability to seize control of sqq's body at any time. He never uses this and only wields his blood parasites to heal

Mbj is sqh's boss who regularly heaps too much work onto him and would physically attack him. Mbj's role as boss is never utilized to coerce or manipulate sqh into a romantic relationship. Mbj was engaging in demonic bonding activities that were acceptable within his culture and stopped the Moment he realized that it was not received that way

Sqh invented the world and created his dream man who he is now romancing. He could be considered a god. It could be wish fulfillment. He uses his knowledge to protect mbj's kingdom and mbj himself and takes up a servants role

There are a thousand other tropes in this book like this. You hear student/teacher, god/creation, body control, fuck-or-die, demon lord/prisoner, age difference, corpse in bed, boss/employee, King/servant. You think you know what kind of book this will be, what kind of abuse and power differences there will be

But the point is that they all just love each other instead! The world is Constantly giving them the opportunity to abuse each other, manipulate, take power over another person. And the point is that they all choose to ignore those customs. The teacher just wants to relax and live a simple life. The god wants to serve. The king learns to serve. The demon lord wants nothing more than to leave it all behind and become a housewife

And it works! They get their happy ending! They fix the world by refusing the opportunities to exploit and abuse others

It's beautiful! And it also makes it absolutely impossible to recommend this novel to anyone!

Mobei-Jun is literally described in canon (official books' appendices) as a "demonic second gen".

Mobei-Jun is at best CEO in name only, but more likely the totally lost rich kid ("How much could a banana cost, ten dollars?") who's never there CEO dad just dumped a department or smaller business on him as practise/a toy.

He did not study for business and when he suddenly was expected to work (dirty word!) he panicked and pulled some random shlub from accounting (SQH) out of his normal job to "do it for him".

Bonus shenanigan: The office block Mobei's found himself in holds multiple businesses and the accountant he stole from the downstairs cafe doesn't go here.

AU where SQH's bone melon seed selling trip gets delayed by a few days/cancelled/other and so he's at CQMS when SQQ-J has his qi deviation.

SQH tries to save SQQ-J, the System thinks he won't get help in time and shoves SQQ-Y in, and SQQ-J's soul is too weak to manifest itself as more than a very tiny version of him which SQH is carrying around in the qi equivalent of a hamster ball while they work on getting him a new body.

Obviously he has a mini Xiu Ya. Not sure if Cucumber-bro's computer system transmigrated into the sword as a replacement sword spirit or the sword spirit just decided to split into two, but Shen Qingqiu-Jiu Mini absolutely has a tiny Xiu Ya in the hamster ball with him.

Moshang AU where SQH is on a mission with MBJ and they come across a loose plot thread magic item that the System lets them take; only its power is temporary perfect insight.

airplane touches it and gets walloped with all the choices he could have made to do better as an author, the fact he loves mbj and a breakdown of al his kinks and opinions about himself and the world - and which are really bad coping mechanisms in disguise. Also system wrangling 101.

MBJ wondering what brought his spy to his knees, learns that SQH is the creator of the universe who made him to be his ion deal person and promptly got depowered. But also that as per cycle of reincarnation, if he wants to follow his spy into the heavens, he needs to start doing better pronto.

So the whole plot gets derailed because MBJ goes on a self improvement kick and drags his entire nation along (there will be new schools, and monestaries, and therapy and if other demons don't like it too bad, uncle) and Tianlang-Jun spots this and decides it's highly entertaining and also gives him a better chance with Su Xiyan.

What do you mean the heavenly demon emperor got freed from the matk of heaven's eternal hatred by asking the future lord of an ding peak nicely???

note that said magic item only gives them temporary insight. so mbj's thinking he's going to get a great grade in boyfriend material and sqh's freaking out because okay the letting people walk all over him is unhealthy but the wanting his king to step on him isn't and also he was not prepared to reckon with wanting that and neither of them are talking

By all appearances, Mobei Jun seems to have Found Religion, but the good news is that he is NOT currently advocating for a Grand Crusade of Holy War in favor of his preferred God(s).

New schools and monasteries? Therapeutic Meditation? Could be worse!

Meanwhile Shang Quinhua has to figure out the new dynamic between him and Mobei Jun. It is... Not Bad??? He wants his King to pin him against a wall! But what is HAPPENING with the new self-improvement kick?!

Between that and the new System-wrangling skills allowing him to FINALLY work on Changing His Fate, he has NO idea what's going to happen next!

Cue SQH trying very hard to get pinned to a wall and completely missing that all the most divine beauties etc MBJ has statues commissioned of have his face.

(Tianlang-Jun thinks this is hilarious. Master Abbot Wu Wang of Zhao Hua Monestary sect is nashing his teeth because that's a demon! Out devouting him! Meanwhile Abbot Wu Chen thinks it's adorable.)
