Sterek idea: Stiles magic actually revolving around strings, like with his murder board, and that one scene with Lydia where she plucks the string. But he doesn’t know, it’s just something he learned from his mother.

He keeps string in his pockets and tied around his fingers. He ties string bracelets around the wrists of the people he loves as protection.

One night when Derek come over to ask for research sometime during season 2/3. Stiles just looks at Derek and sees how mentally, emotionally and physically drained he is. So without thinking he unties the red string from his pinky and wraps it around Derek’s pinky. Maybe also presses a kiss on the knuckle.

Derek is so confused about what just happened but he doesn’t want to untie the string from his pinky. He also doesn’t know why he suddenly wants to hunt down a deer and give it to stiles but he’s going to ignore that.

(Scott who sees the string around Derek’s pinky proceeds the wear as many of the string bracelets that stiles made him over the years…because he’ll be fucking damned if Derek is the only one wearing stiles strings. This becomes a status among the betas with how many strings and how colourful the strings are. Derek is only one to have a red string. The betas buy stiles red strings to get him to complete their collection but he never does. He growls at Erica when she tries to steal his string)

And then Stiles gets kidnapped and none of the werewolves can pick up a scent, it’s like he vanished from thin air. Derek is losing his mind when he feels a tug on his pinky, and he swears he can see a red string floating from finger into the distance. He follows the string and finds Stiles. The string falls of his finger when he rescue a stiles but he ends up picking it up and puts it his wallet.

When they get married Derek ties the string around his wedding band. And Derek always make sure to buy stiles as much string as he wants.

Friendly reminder that Stiles Stilinksi is canonically the person who mellowed out Derek Hale. Lots of talk about how Derek went from hard-edged angry bad boy to loving, soft dilf, but let’s give credit where it’s due. It was physically impossible for Derek to not be angry since it was his anchor at the start of the show. That is canon. If he ever stopped being angry, he would lose control of his wolf. But then, oh but then, he met Stiles Stilinksi, and he became his anchor. That is also canon. There for, the reason Derek softened, is canonically Stiles Stilisnki.

Derek: Do you want to know your gay name?

Stiles: My... my gay name?

Derek: Yeah, it's your first name-

Stiles: Haha. Very funny Derek-

Derek: *gets down on one knee* And my last name.

Stiles: Oh- oh my god.

P.S the only good part of this really bad fanfic movie is that for the whole movie derek keeps saying that he hates stiles' jeep (and he doesn't explain why) and then at the end of the movie at derek's funeral, sheriff stilinski gives Eli the jeep and says that derek secretly didn't hate the jeep.

then he explains that after Stiles left it behind, Derek towed it back to his auto shop (because derek is a mechanic now btw????) and fixed up stiles' jeep literally so he could keep it for himself. and I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be some metaphor for derek not realizing he's in love with stiles until after stiles moves away and now all that he has left is the jeep????

As much as I accept the truth of Stiles being Eli's other parent, it is equally hilarious to imagine Eli being utterly fucking baffled by this weird, Polish-speaking, smartassed, magic-using, maybe FBI agent(?) showing up out of fucking nowhere and his dad, his perpetually single, notoriously gameless, still-gets-embarrassed-when-the-checkout-lady-winks-at-him loser (affectionate) dad, starts fucking flirting with him. And the maybe-wizard-maybe-serial-killer flirts back??? Hello???

Saturday October 26th- Lyrics and Quotes: This is one theme that can truly, easily bridge across any fanwork medium with ease, be it a video set to music, a songfic, graphics covered in quotes, or art inspired by lyrics, let your imagination run free with any words that inspire you! They can be dark, light, romantic, angsty, from fiction or real life, there are no limits, and CERTAINLY feel free to include more than one if you’re so inspired!

Sunday October 27th- Outdoors: Ah the great outdoors… or.. not so great, if you’re in the world of Teen Wolf- the outdoors can be a source of relaxation and joy, from running through the woods to looking at the stars… or horror and tragedy, from finding a dead body to getting chased by hunters, you can use any type of genre or tone you want to portray this one, just as long as the outdoors are heavily featured!

Monday October 28th- Movie Night: Possibly the most relaxing experience, it’s time to let Stiles and Derek off the hook from terror and give them a movie night! .. Unless that movie night INDUCES terror, also possible… October in particular is a great season for movie watching, with the cold just beginning and all sorts of things airing for Halloween, from cutesy kid flicks to terrifying horror movies, time to have a night in and enjoy a movie!

Tuesday October 29th- Scene Stealer: Take a scene, any scene, from any show/book/movie, and Sterek it! Do Stiles and Derek have to stop Thanos from getting the Infinity Gauntlet? Maybe Stiles is an exceptional assassin… with an exceptional desire for Detective Derek Hale? Do the two of them take part in the annual Purge? Or maybe they both want to save the world of their favorite virtual reality? Maybe someone can fix that Bleach redux, if you’ve ever thought “Hey this scene would have been SO much better with Sterek..” then this is the theme for you!

Wendsday October 30th- Canon Highlights: We know, we know, canon can be a fickle beast, and we all have things about it that we don’t like… but we all have things about that we DO like as well, otherwise, we never would have gotten into Sterek in the first place! If it weren’t for canon, Stiles and Derek never would have existed, and there’s certainly something to be said for the show that created a couple- even if it didn’t canonize them- that’s endured so strong for so long, it’s time to pay tribute to the birthplace of this ship and highlight your favorite moment from canon! Or modify a moment, that’s fine too! Choose a moment that made you fall in love with Sterek and draw it out, or a moment that you wished had MORE Sterek and write your version of what should have happened, all that matters is that the scene in question originated from canon

Thursday October 31st- Halloween: Our last day this year is my personal favorite day of every year: Halloween!! From ghoulies and ghosties and long-legged beasties, let your love for Sterek rule the night! The best part of Halloween themes is that you can use the actual holiday as Halloween for your theme- picking out costumes, trick or treating, and carving pumpkins, or you can just use what Halloween REPRESENTS- the celebration of all things magic, haunted, and living in the shadows, or hey, you can always combine it! You could also mix Halloween mythologies and modern day Halloween, maybe something special happens to werewolves on Halloween, maybe the Hales have always had a history of Halloween parties and some wicked pixies take over, maybe Stiles goes to the woods as Little Red Riding Hood and his Big Bad Wolf is waiting there for him… this may be the end of Sterek Week this year, but mark my words, as long as there is Halloween, there will be Sterek Week!

This is a BEAUTIFUL idea. Derek being all soft and sweet and making lesson plans and taking his kindergarteners on trips to the zoo, and dark Stiles finding it all so endearing despite himself, because he’s not supposed to like cute, ok? Cute and he do not mix.

Except they do because every time Derek earnestly asks him out on another nauseatingly perfect date, he can’t help saying yes, even if it gets in the way of this other… activities. And when Derek cups his cheeks and shyly asks if he can kiss him Stiles knows he’s in trouble, knows that flutter in his heart is a big bright warning sign - last exit before you get in too deep - but he’s already nodding and Derek’s kissing him. 

And maybe Stiles kisses back too rough just to push things. Maybe tries for hard and fast and dirty because that’ll probably scare the guy off and then he can get back to life as usual, this little segue into dating just a bump in his blood-crusted road. But it turns out Derek likes the rough stuff, damn him, blushing and breathless and beautiful between the sheets, and who knew a sweet-faced kindergarten teacher was even allowed to be kinky and fun too?

And then one day Derek comes to see Stiles so miserable and frustrated because one of his kids keeps coming into school with bruises, and the school board can’t do anything and social services has looked into it and more or less shrugged it off (there’s not enough evidence of wrongdoing in the household) but Derek just knows this kid is being abused and there’s nothing he can do about it.

Stiles, ever the concerned boyfriend, kisses Derek on the temple and casually requests the family’s name. Derek comes by the next week announcing that his student’s abusive mother has disappeared, leaving a full confession of her misdeeds, and that the boy’s going to live with his beloved aunt instead. 

And Stiles, something warm and pleased curling inside him at Derek’s relieved expression, just smiles.
