Let us focus on Jesus, not on others. Let us be absorbed in doing the will of Jesus, not in our curiosity about others. Never compare yourself with anyone.
You formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother’s womb. -Psalm 139:13
The verse above is taken from one of my favorite psalms. It tells of how God made each one of us, how much He loves us, and how He will never leave us, even if we try our hardest to run from His love.
I have learned that the first calling we have that glorifies God is to be who we are at the moment.
Are you a son? Then be a son.
Are you a student? Then be a student.
Are you a parent? Then be a parent.
Are you a brother, a friend, an employee? Then be one.
And do it with great love. Because when you do, you’ve fulfilled God’s greatest law.
You’re valuable. You’re bought with a price. You’re not ordinary. You’re not like you think. You’re special, despite of what other people say. You are more, beloved.
I’d rather have scars on my cheeks
And a crooked nose and
Bad skin and boney hips
Or boring eyes and boring hair and a boring mouth
And someone tell me
“You’re beautiful,”
Because I’d know they meant
I am beautiful in the way that I talk,
In the way that I listen, in the way that I love,
In the way that I am
Than have
Pretty lips and pretty teeth and
Pretty hair and a pretty nose
And ignorantly believe
That being beautiful in the way that I look
Is enough.
— Madisen Kuhn, "I’d Rather A Lovely Heart Than A Lovely Face"
It’s important to make someone happy, and it’s important to start with yourself!
Don’t let insecurities ruin the beauty you were born with.
Its not about fitting in, it’s about standing out.
So what if you’re not perfect? Nobody else is either.
When we are truly confident and secure, the opinions of others cannot control us.
Don’t change yourself to win someone’s heart. Stay true and you’ll find someone who likes you for being you.
He is the Master, using my muddy messy life as His paint, to show a portrait of His love to the world.
My legs were made for walking, not to look skinny. My tummy was made for holding my organs, not to be flat. My bones were made as a structural foundation for my body, not to stick out. Appreciate what your body can do for you instead of trying to make it ‘look good’.
Ever made a mistake in life?
I’ve had my share of errors, terrible judgement and bad decisions. But I’ve learnt through my experiences that God can restore. He can make whole. He can heal. Yes He does.
Out of the broken pieces of your life, the Lord can make a great masterpiece. It is only God that can bring beauty out of ashes.
Beautiful has nothing to do with looks. It has everything to do with how you are as a person and how you make others feel about themselves.
