Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. (NLT) -James 1:19

Notice how the word "all" is used? No one is immune. It just takes the perfect storm for a personal situation to put you over the edge. Before you feel justified to say something damaging, remember this verse. And if you're on the receiving end, be "quick" to forgive and "slow" to resent.

Don't befriend angry people or associate with hot-tempered people, or you will learn to be like them and endanger your soul. (NLT) -Proverbs 22:24-25

Don't allow your anger to become uncontrolled. Instead, work through the anger and emotions.

The key to battling anger is fighting it away with unfailing love for others.

Don't sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. (NLT) -Psalm 4:4

Your face gets flushed, your blood begins to get hot, and your head begins to throb. These are physical signs that anger is beginning to control you in the moment. When our anger gets out of control there is never a good result. In such situations, the smartest thing is to remain silent and take some time to think overnight. In the morning, after time has passed, it's easier to respond with a calmer stance.
