Don't let anything come between you and the Lord.
As we make more money, we tend to spend more money. We must remember that we are merely stewards of "our" riches, as they originated from God. Don't let your riches steal your heart away from Him.
"But be careful. Don't let your heart be deceived so that you turn away from the Lord and serve and worship other gods." (NLT) -Deuteronomy 11:16
Sometimes other gods can be our possessions. If we grasp and value our possessions more than others, such as our family and God, we have then allowed our possessions to control us. Value others over possessions.
Jesus said, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:21) Where is your treasure today? What do you value most in life? Take a few minutes to think of how you spent your time and money this past month. What does it reflect about your values?
But when you had eaten and were satisfied, you became proud and forgot me. (NLT) -Hosea 13:6
Excess is a real struggle for many in our culture. With freezers full of frozen food, clothes for every season, and shelter for our cars, it's no wonder we're so proud. We must not forget where these provisions come from. Don't forget to thank God everyday for all that He has provided. Not only does it show appreciation; most importantly it will keep you humble.
When you dream, be purposeful about how you choose to include God. Keep Him smack in the middle of it all. Otherwise, your dream can take on an unhealthy desire, which can absorb your heart and mind away from God.
Make a relationship with God a priority each and every day. He will provide protection and comfort.
Do you have everything you need? Does what you need match up according to the Kingdom of God? Let God's Kingdom come in to your work, play, business, friendships, all areas of your life. Don't hold back. Align your life to be constantly seeking God and His Kingdom.
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need. (NLT) -Luke 12:31
Start your day on your knees before God and you can stand before anyone.
We all have some passions in life. Why not pour your passion into God? What does that entail? Just think about the actions you take when doing something that you love. You think about it all day. You want to spend all your time on it. You put it first above all other things. Now channel all those actions towards God and you will see grace filter through your day leaving behind anger, guilt and selfishness.
Don't allow your wants to be stumbling blocks to the Kingdom of God.
Passion is a key aspect of our personal lives as well. Our heart attitude toward the Lord is revealed in how we serve Him.
Balaam was offered a profitable assignment from a neighboring king, and he inquired of God for permission to accept it (Num. 22). When God said no, the king’s representatives made a better offer. Thinking God might change His mind, Balaam asked again. God granted permission for Balaam to go with them but with strict conditions. God knew Balaam’s heart and was not pleased with him, so He placed His Angel in the way. Balaam couldn’t see the Angel but his donkey could. When the donkey refused to continue, Balaam became angry with the animal for blocking his progress.
Balaam’s story teaches us that not every obstacle is meant to be overcome. Some are placed by God to keep us from doing something foolish. When our plans are hindered, we shouldn’t assume that it’s Satan trying to stop us. It might be God trying to protect us.
As followers of Jesus, we demonstrate our love for Him by what we do, not just by what we say.
Are you still trapped in your sins? Accept Jesus’ gift of salvation and enjoy the freedom of life in Christ and eternity with Him.
