They have had the same old monsignor here since before I was born. And he would stare at me just like that. All the time. Even back when I was a kid. I remember it freaking me out, thinking… He knows.

Reasons this Midnight Mass moment randomly hijacks my brain:
1) She is sitting higher so he is literally looking up to her. 2) He is so happy to have an excuse to look her in the eyes. 3) This is probably the last time anyone truly looks into his before it all goes so so bad. 3) The way he beams at her after she says, “He’ll live.” and calls him Father. 🥺 4) This scene follows what is in my opinion the worst jump scare in the series, thus ensuring all subtly in the acting of it is lost as you scramble to recover your soul from the stratosphere and curse yet another goddamn jump scare, executed ruthlessly by a man who claims to hate jump scares.
