We are one and the same now, all Dark Ones.
Hi. Do you feel like the signs on the vault of Dark One means something and why was it those symbols?
yes i do, and i think those symbols will come back in the underworld theme of 5B. what they mean, i’m not sure, i’d have to take a closer look. the important ones in the episode were sun, eye, and star.
however, *deep breath* doing a “quick” google search of some key words brought me to a page on Osiris, Egyptian god of the Underworld. Osiris is translated from the hieroglyph Wsjr, which some believe to mean “she who bears the eye.” and the Egyptians described the afterlife as traveling with the sun god through the stars.
additionally, the Eye of Horus was used to resurrect Osiris, and is heavily associated with sacrifice—in later Egyptian dynasties, Horus was merged with Ra, the sun god. in some stories, Horus is also the child of Isis (wife of Osiris), a goddess associated with reincarnation and the star symbol. So the eye and the sun
GIVEN, this is all probably unrelated, i seriously doubt ouat is doing egyptian underworld bc all easter eggs point to the greek underworld but i’m a history nerd, and i’m very interested in things like this. i also love the hunt for clues.
i also did a brief (hah) search on the greek symbols of the underworld or of the greek gods but got nothing concrete. just directed me to a lot of astrology pages.
more likely to be connected, i also remember seeing symbols like that in rumple’s castle, in 1x16 when he bottled true love from snow’s hair.
maybe something, maybe nothing.
this was probably a much longer reply than you anticipated (i know that i wasn’t planning on getting carried away reading……i think i started answering this message like 40 minutes ago……….) but the point of all my unnecessary (but fun!) research is that: sun, eye, star…all wiggle room to be associated with a larger plot in 5B.
I was wondering if we'd visit the darkone vault again. lets just hope they don't redo the darkone vault story on how we saw it in ep 15 of s3 again.
Yeah I figured they would have to get back there eventually. I think with season 5 we are going to be seeing the DO mythology explored a lot more (obviously) and I for one am so excited for it! I doubt they will simply redo what we’ve already seen (and tbh, we really haven’t seen THAT much), but rather I think they will expand and add to it.
Adam and Eddy mentioned in an interview that “Emma is going to be taking us into the Dark One and the Dark One mythology, and we are going to learn this first half of the season who the original Dark One was, what made them tick, and why there is even a Dark One to begin with.” So basically, there is a lot of gaps in the mythology for them to work with and I can’t wait to see what they come up with :)
I did a reboot of this GIFset because it’s my favorite and had new scenes to add to it.
“Okay so I rewatched 1x08 yesterday. That episode is basically about how Rumple became the Dark One. But I noticed something that has to do with the S4 finale. When Rumple stabbed Zoso to become the new Dark One, he asked why he chose him. His answer was: I know how to recognize a desperate soul. This episode was also about the election for the new sheriff in Storybrook. You remember how Gold was the one to cause the fire in Regina’s house? Well in the last scene of the episode Gold and Emma were talking. Do you know what he said? I know how to recognize a desperate soul. And he was talking about Emma. Okay. AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS THAT A&E ALWAYS WANTED TO MAKE EMMA THE NEXT DARK ONE? I mean Zoso said it just before he died. And then they let Gold say that to Emma? And in the S4 finale Emma became the new Dark One? WTF? So people what do you think of this, am I crazy and reading too much into this? But the name of the episode was also Desperate Souls sooo…” (via xyouss)
I noticed that too…I’d like to think they planned Emma becoming The Dark One and her being The Savior was really something as big as this–saving all these characters, even Gold. I would like to think Adam and Eddie have a plan… If they know where the show ends…you should have an overall idea of each characters development. And I’d like them to be asked this question ‘was Emma becoming the Dark One always planned?’ at SDCC. They ALWAYS planned for Hook and Emma being a thing…so was this too part of the plan?
Well, it does make sense that *if* they planned this from the beginning, they planned Hook for Emma as part of that as well. Killian’s life had three major pivotal moments: losing Liam, losing Milah, meeting Emma. The Dark One and The Savior are the two major presences in his life: darkness vs light, revenge vs love. Emma becoming the dark one ties all this in one person and puts Killian in the center of that arc in a journey to save her and find final redemption at the same time. When you look at it, it’s beautiful.
