reasons to love donghae: he is the cutest 5y/o kid man in this world ♡

• went to Korea at age 17 and was supposed to join Super Junior during Don’t Don but the backlash was so bad, they didn’t push through with it
• got hated on so much at such a young age but stayed strong and continued to work hard 
• was homesick a lot back then but didn’t tell his parents how much he wanted to go back because he didn’t want to worry them (his parents only found out when they filmed Where is My Friend’s House last year)
• extremely hard working and passionate and puts everything that he has in whatever he’s doing
• has been a hard worker ever since he was a kid. he had violin and piano lessons on top of school work and also managed to take dance lessons. 
• michelle yeoh praised him saying, “I really enjoyed working with young Henry. I really like working with first time actors because you see their innocence, you can see their enthusiasm and their way of trying to find their footing. And it’s charming…[H]e was very worried about the very emotional [scenes] ‘cause it’s very difficult to be able to cry on cue…[a]nd so he was searching but he was not afraid to ask. I really love working with Henry.”
• wasn’t satisfied in singing someone else’s songs so he took a hiatus to study music in Berklee 
• wants his music to bring happiness to other people and serve as an OST to their lives.
• always tell people to not give up and keep working hard and that you should always believe in yourself. set a goal instead of a dream.
• told his fans that it’s okay if they don’t give him gifts or buy his albums. they should treat themselves better and spend the money on themselves.
• super approachable and accessible. he almost never rejects fans if they ask for an autograph or a picture. he always try to make conversation with them and makes sure that fans know how grateful he is. “There are those who rise up so quickly they forget and simply take in all this love/support/fame they’re getting for granted. I’ve learned to appreciate each and everyone out there who supports me in any way…every applause/every scream. I’ve learned to ‘earn’ it instead of having it handed to me. That’s why I can’t just walk passed a fan like its nothing.”
• puts effort in learning other languages (even though it’s only basic) so he can connect with international fans. 
• down-to-earth and doesn’t forget his roots. he visits his high school every time he goes back to Canada and is so thankful to his teachers there.
• he’s sentimental. ryeowook said that henry still uses the same wallet ever since he was in middle school even though it’s worn out because he has a lot of memories with it. 
• cried in front of Donghae because he felt like he’s not a good son for not always being there for his family. 
• puts his family above everything else. 
• he told his fans to not respond to those who write mean comments about him and to try to love and understand them instead. 
• zhoumi said that during the times he couldn’t speak korean, he was lucky to have henry because he’s the only one he can talk to even though at that time, henry can barely speak chinese.
• during real men, he was assigned to train a depressed dog, Bando, and was very gentle and patient over her. During their evaluation, the dog isn’t very responsive so she failed. The officer told Henry to just train a different dog but Henry refused to give up on her.
• understands that the standardization of beauty is the problem and not plastic surgery. he always say that it’s what on the inside that counts.“Often times people say that you only need a good-looking face to gain confidence but if you consider yourself to be beautiful, then others would feel that, too.”
