Pigeon, 33 (nonbinary, they/them). I recently changed my name and pic on here to keep my nonsense/personal tumblr separate from my attempt at making an art account, but we'll see if it sticks lol. If you need me to tag specific triggers let me know.

The Manchester bomber was banned from a local mosque and reported by the Muslim community around him multiple times. UK authorities didn’t act.

I repeat: Not once, not twice, not thrice. Five times. They were alerted five times by the Muslim community around the bomber and were ignored.

Specifically, two of his close friends reported him after he made comments praising suicide bombers.

Two of his friends.

And it was ignored. And instantly after this happened and the bomber was identified as a Muslim, people began saying how ‘Muslims need to take greater steps to confront extremism in their own communities’, even though a mosque literally banned him, reported him and two of his friends did the same when he began expressing extremist sentiment.

Muslims can’t win even when they do the right thing.

Even worse, they also had info from other counter-terrorist agencies that he had ties with groups in Lybia and that his father had them as well. They did nothing.

Woooow. So basically:

Non Muslims: Please weed out the extremist from your groups MOZLEMS you need to take action!

Muslims: Here he is !! We’re warning you he’s an extremist!

Non Muslims: …….

Non Muslims: ANYWAY MOZLEMS NEVER SPEAK UP

More specifically, the police can’t follow up everything due to budget cuts…and police FROM MANCHESTER specifically warned both the current Home Secretary, Amber Rudd, and the previous Home Secretary, who is now the Prime Minister, Theresa May, that something like what happened in Manchester on Monday was more likely to happen as a result.

Amber Rudd ignored them.

Theresa May said they were scaremongering.

On Theresa May’s Praise For Trump

Fucking christ so in the same 24 hour period that Trump endorses torture as a method of extracting information, announces that plans to build The Wall will go ahead, announces that a weekly list of crimes committed by immigrants will be released to skew public opinion and enable paramilitary vigilantes, and more, our unelected hateful planless prime minister states gleefully that she’ll be meeting with him in hopes of renewing the US and UK’s special relationship.

“As you renew your nation just as we renew ours” is a terrifying statement from her. That she views the way he’s ‘renewing’ his nation as a model for how we might ‘renew ours’. This from a PM who frankly loves a bit of fascism on the side of her more standard cut-and-burn Tory trickle-up economic practice. Who’s a big fan of surveillance, censorship, and interference in the private sphere already. Who’s been actively in opposition to LGBTQ issues in the past, and whose opposition has not changed into support but silence in more recent years.

I am disgusted to hear that our PM will be pandering to Trump for the sake of a trade deal, but with her whole character taken into consideration, I am deeply unsurprised.

Thankfully there’s already been outcry in parliament, from within her party and without, and publically, calling on her to actively condemn Trump’s statements and executive orders. And if she won’t? Well, at least T-May’s spooling out even more rope by which to hang her political legitimacy.

Still, if anyone’s in doubt for now as to her hopes for the UK/US special relationship, and the form it will take, you only need to look at her other statements.

Her hopes that Britain and the US can “lead, together, again” are hopes for a global interventionist future, a cultural imperialist future. Or else they smack of a desire to join with Trump’s vision for America and the world, rather than stand against it.

More transparent is this other statement: “The United Kingdom is by instinct and history a great, global nation”. Which basically I’ve parsed for your convenience: “The United Kingdom not only has a history of colonialism, imperialism, and ‘greatness’ stolen at great cost — I, ya girl T-May, would venture to suggest that it has an instinctual – perhaps a genetic – talent for it, and an inevitable destiny that leads us towards it.” And that is some of the most disgusting shit that she, as an already disgusting politician, has said so far.
