If you live in Austin, Texas or it’s surrounding areas please do not open any packages that you are not expecting. Do not even touch them.
If you did not order anything and nobody else did. Or if the package seems to be odd. Call your local police department and report that there is a unidentified package at your home and ask for assistance with it.
There have been 3 package bombings in Austin so far. One on March 3rd and two of them today(3/12/18). There are 3 reported deaths and one injury. These bombs are detonated via movement and opening and were believed to be placed at night.
Due to the fact that all 3 houses that were targeted were people of color (first two victims were black and the third was latinx) it is possible that this could be the results of a hate crime, however the reasons and culprits have not yet been found.
Texas tea party state Sen. Konni Burton (pictured with Sen. Ted Cruz) has filed legislation that would effectively require public school employees to out LGBT students to their parents.
Under Burton’s Senate Bill 242, teachers and other school employees who fail to disclose a student’s sexual orientation or gender identity to parents could face discipline, even if the student requests that the information be withheld.

I loved Open House at the beginning of the school year. My parents are funny, I always made a good impression on my teachers, and bringing my funny parents to meet my teachers who were just so impressed by my manners always put a little skip in my step as a bonafide teacher’s pet and Mama’s boy
So, I had no reason to believe my English teacher during one particular Open House would basically ruin my life for the foreseeable future. After telling my mom what a great kid I was and how much she loved my writing, she took a hushed tone and asked my mom if she could speak with her privately. I didn’t actually get to hear the conversation where she told my mother that there were rumors I might be a homosexual, but I did get to hear the conversation on the way home where my mom asked me if I wanted to die of AIDS and burn in Hell.
I heard variations of that conversation until I went to boarding school and the last variation I heard was on my mom’s birthday when she said all she wanted in the form of a gift was to know that I had given up my homosexual demons and come back to the Lord. By then I was in my 20s, living in NYC, and financially independent, but the first time she railed at me, I was barely into my teens, living under their roof, and sitting beside her in church every Saturday (culty Seventh Day Adventists). So, I tried to commit suicide a few times to escape her judgement every day. Luckily I was unsuccessful, but a teacher with misplaced concern basically almost killed me.
This bill is going to kill a lot of kids if it passes. If you live in Texas, write whoever you can. Save our kids.
SAVE OUR KIDS
I believe this should be all the PFLAG chapters in Texas. Something tells me they might appreciate some support.
saw this on twitter
reblog for your Texas #LGBTQ followers who may be going to Houston Pride!
HOLY SHIT!!!! @daxdingusreblog VERY IMPORTANT
VERY IMPORTANT!
“communist countries have propaganda everywhere!!” meanwhile in the us there’s an american flag within every square mile, kids pledge their allegiance to that flag every day at school, and the us military attempts to recruit people before theyve reached the age of 13
i told my dad about the pledge of allegiance and he said this sort of shit wouldn’t fly even at his old school and he did kinda grow up in communist poland so like
and in texas we have a SECOND pledge we have to say every morning because we also need to pledge to the flag of texas (just in case we secede again)
wait what the fuck texas
I love that media like to talk about Texas some kind of free market success story. Their economy is booming and it looks great because you don’t hear about this. Out of the 50 states, Texas is:
— Amount of toxic chemicals released into water (1st)
— Amount of recognized cancer-causing carcinogens released into air (1st)
— Amount of carbon dioxide emissions (1st)
— Amount of hazardous waste generated (1st)
— Overall birth rate (2nd)
— Percent of pregnant women receiving prenatal care in first trimester (50th)
— Percent of non-elderly women with health insurance (50th)
— Percent of uninsured children (1st)
— Percent of children living in poverty (4th)
— Percent of population uninsured (1st)
— Percent of population living below poverty (4th)
— Percent of population with food insecurity (2nd)
— Percent of poor people covered by Medicaid (49th)
— Per capita spending on Medicaid (49th)
— Percent of population with employer-based health insurance (48th)
— Per capita spending on mental health (50th)
— Workers’ compensation coverage (50th)
— Average credit score (49th)
— Women’s voter registration (45th)
— Percent of voting age population that is registered to vote (45th)
— Percent of population with a high school diploma (50th)
— Tax expenditures per capita (47th)
— Number of executions (1st)
This is what neoliberal deregulation fucking gets you. Texas is a dystopia. People are fucking suffering. Texas is a horrifying illustration of what Noam Chomsky said about economic growth: “the way these things are measured, the economy can be doing ‘well’ while basically everyone is starving.”
Found this little guy outside my house!
