and every other innocent person of color who has been wrongly killed by guns. they deserve an equal platform that they have not gotten. the black lives matter movement goes hand in hand, fist in fist with the never again movement. you can not support this change without recognizing the people who have been silenced forever.
please feel free to add more names. there are far too many victims. their names and voices need to be heard here too.
Not very many people on tumblr have been posting about the protests and police violence in St. Louis right now. This surprises me.
It’s like I said, it’s not interesting enough for tumblr anymore. When the black lives matter protests were first happening, it was a huge thing on tumblr. Now tumblr’s bored of it and you don’t even hear about it anymore.
I suppose that’s true. It’s just troubling because literally hundreds of people have been arrested. They literally strangled an old black woman at the galleria. Yesterday protestors shut down hwy 40 (which is the main central highway through the city). And they arrested those documenting and advocating first. Please tell me it’s not totally fucking terrifying that their first priority is to make sure no one else can see what they are doing. The city is being sued for their treatment of protestors. I am pasting in some photos for those following the post. This has all been happening for the last two weeks. These are organized actions. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A JUDGE TELLS COPS THEY CAN KILL WHOMEVER THE FUCKING PLEASE
This is literally the first I’ve seen about this.
I suppose for the sake of people who don’t know my beloved St. Louis, I should be clear and state that this is the same place where Ferguson is. Ferguson is suburb of St. Louis, but the way out county/city is laid out, Ferguson is really just a neighborhood in St. Louis, so this is a continuation of the Ferguson uprising that has been reinvigorated after Jason Stockley (white cop) was acquitted for the murder of Anthony Lamar Smith (black man). Stockley chose to pursue a bench trial, and the judge acquitted him citing the following racist bullshit….
Important line transcribed for those who can see the image: “Finally, the Court observes, based on its nearly thirty years on the bench, that an urban heroin dealer not in possession of a firearm would be an anomaly.” WHAT. THE. FUCK.
Is there a date for this?
This was…. like a week ago? End of sept/beginning of oct. I have friends out there and I’m terrified for them.
Here is a link for the legal fund that’s set up for people to donate as well.
It’s legit ongoing. There are new protests every single day since Mid-September.
WE HAD NO FUCKING IDEA WHAT THE HELL????

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ATTENTION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Bitch-ass motherfucker, fucking shoot at us,” a Chicago police officer told the bloodied, dying body of Paul O’Neal, an 18-year-old black man who was, to be clear, unarmed when officers shot and killed him on July 28.
It’s not clear exactly what happened at the moment of the shooting — once again, it seems like the shooting police officers’ body cameras fell or malfunctioned. But thankfully Chicago just decided to release some of the footage, and it’s graphic. (WARNING: WATCH WITH CAUTION)

Monstrous
Her mother cut her off for being woke and having her own opinion
Players across NFL kneel or rais their fists during the playing of the national anthem before their games to draw attention to police brutality against minorities and spur conversations about social justice.

And studies show black BOYS are seen as black men
Black/Jewish solidarity is knowing that the feeling of DREAD and IMPENDING DOOM is not gonna go away any time soon
Black/Jewish solidarity is also already having these feelings before this weekend
Politically powerful Black people are a threat to White Supremacy.
White people deny that they live a different reality in this country because they don’t want to be made to feel uncomfortable for their privilege. But it’s the reality we are living in. There is a matter of police oppression on blacks, browns and people of color in this country and it should be acknowledged, not ignored or be argued against.

Real
This is real. There is so much distrust between cops and black people its ridiculous. Protect and serve may be true, but minorities are the exception to that motto.
And if people are still wondering why its black lives matter, this is why.
He was only 27.
Edward Crawford, the man featured in the iconic Ferguson protest photograph throwing a tear gas canister, was found dead overnight, his father said. Police say it appears the death was from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He has become the symbol of fighting for justice for so many people and now we lost him. RIP.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO
Why Ion’t fully believe his death was a suicide?
yeah… wasn’t there another black lives matter protester or organizer a year or two back who also “shot himself” in his car?
[ image is of Edward Crawford, the iconic photo during the Ferguson protest throwing a tear gas canister in one hand and holding a bag of chips in the other, outside at night time. the second image is him in full head shot inside somewhere, wearing a red hat, long dreads, and head tilted up but looking down with a blank and melancholic expression. ]
Black Lives Matter. ALL of them. Even those who are poor students, high school dropouts, or who might have had a troubled past. The repeated police shootings of innocent, unarmed black people is always wrong. Respectability politics should not play a role in who is more or less deserving of our collective sympathy or outrage.
Say it with me: Respectability politics will not save us.
Respectability politics only divide us and plays into racial stereotypes.
Today is a good day to remember that the black panther party always was a proponent for queer rights and queer activists today can repay that kindness by supporting groups such as black lives matter and by working to eliminate racism in our own communities.
Also the Black Panther Party protected disabled protesters during a 23 day sit-in in 1977 that resulted in the winning of 504 regulations. Please don’t forget that.
