The scene with Shiv and Logan very early on, in the first season, with Logan deliriously taking her hand and moving it to his crotch, something that Shiv tells nobody about + the scene where Logan promises Shiv that she's the one but they agree to keep it a secret + Tom's "It's like you and your dad have finally admitted how much you're into each other, you know? And now you can, no, not this, but now you can bang." + Shiv being punished from all sides when she does mention it in front of other people without Logan's approval + Shiv's "I got mommed." + I'm walking straight into traffic do you understand me

do you see it

I actually think logan wasn’t disappointed that shiv asked him to spare tom. I think he was disappointed that she didn’t want to say a name in tom’s place. Saving your own people at the expense of someone else is not something logan looks down on imo. He does it all the time (especially wrt family). I think he was really disappointed that shiv didn’t then make the decision - she asked to save tom but she wouldn’t be the killer. For tom she put herself in a position where she would either have to sign someone else’s death warrant or look weak to her father. She knew that going in. But she went in for tom. And I think the reason she doesn’t want to be the killer - the reason that none of them really do - is twofold: 1) it had to be someone big so it had to be someone who actually mattered to them; and 2) they all know where the finger should ultimately be pointed and they all want to avoid pointing it. Whoever she names is a sacrifice for the name that’s on the tip of her tongue - the name she would never actually say: Logan.

And throughout the ep, i think you see them all kind of grapple with that. When it was a table discussion, they all contributed. But when it was a lone decision, none of them really wanted that responsibility so they all passed the buck. Shiv wouldn’t name someone else when logan asked but it couldn’t be tom. Roman rolled his eyes when they were telling logan it couldn’t be logan but it couldn’t be gerri. And then ken was thrown under the bus by Logan and so he was the one who went ahead and actually placed the blame where it ultimately fell - with Logan.

they were all passing the buck until one of them couldn’t anymore
