If Jeffrey Dean Morgan does make another appearance in Supernatural, I want them to say John never left his boys. I want to see John appear in Heaven with everything he ever wanted, but decided to go back and help his sons. I want see him guiding Dean's hands with his own as he rebuilds Baby. I want to see him giving Sam hints of what he needs to research to kill a monster through scraps of paper or moving books. I want to see him keeping Dean awake as he driving late at night, messing with the radio or by brushing his fingers over Dean cheek like a cool breeze through the window. I want to see him watching over them as they sleep, watching them drink and laugh, watching them save the world over and over, and being so proud because his boys grew up heroes.

Dean was four when Mary died. I don’t know about anyone else, but I don’t even remember being four. But Dean remembers a lot of things about Mary. My new head cannon is that John would tell Dean things so that Mary’s memory would never die.

Imagine them driving down the road, baby Sammy asleep in the backseat and Dean excited because he gets to ride up front. Hey Jude comes on the radio and John's first instinct is change the station because it hurts so damn much, but at the last second he reaches for the other dial and turns it up. “Your mom used to sing this to you,” He’d say and Dean would listen intently, determined to learn the words. Imagine John walking in and hearing little Dean singing to Sammy with made up lyrics.

Imagine Dean catching a cold and John buying canned tomato soup and minute rice and trying his best to remember the recipe Mary made a hundred times. Imagine him feeding Dean saying, “I know its not as good as your mom’s, but I tried.” Dean eats the whole bowl even though the rice is a little crunchy and the soup is watery.

Imagine John struggling to be a good dad even though his whole world just fell apart and not even if love for his boys can pick up the pieces.

I get what you mean about the fandom going crazy when it comes to John but he was not a good father. Dean canonically knew what it was like to be hungry for days, stole food for Sam, was "punished" (Dean was hurt by the way John acted afterwords and John never said anything like I forgive you) for taking breaks to be alone and calm down, and ignored his son crying saying he was at their old house and didn't know what to do and needed help. That isn't how a father should act, no matter what.

I agree. John fucked up a lot. He did a lot of bad things and Bobby was a much better dad to Sam and Dean. But John was a man who watched his Heaven selected, God approved soulmate burn to death above his six month olds crib. I think he was entitled to going a little crazy. You also have to remember that there is no canon evidence that he ever physically abuse Sam or Dean, I don’t think he ever would. Because he loved them. He was teaching them to hunt so that they would know how to protect themselves because he couldn’t stand to watch them die like the love of his life had. Also, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played John and knows him better than any of us, has said that he was a man that would do anything to save his sons, and in the end he did.

I'm getting really tired of all the John hate I'm seeing after this episode. First of all, are you guys seriously blaming him for not wanting to take his inexperienced son on a dangerous hunt? Seriously? And I also think there's something a little off in this episode. In earlier seasons, John was insanely protective of Sam. Remember the episode where Dean snuck out and the monster almost sucked out Sam's life force and John saved him? Or the part in Dark Side of the Moon where Dean saw where Sam was living when he ran away and he told about how upset John was? I seriously doubt that he would have left him alone in a motel room, and the writer of this episode doesn't know his character at all.

Anon asked: “I think we need to talk” prompt

“I think we need to talk.”

John Winchester looked up from the papers he had laid out on the kitchen table when his oldest son spoke. He looked at his wife wife questioning eyes, but she didn’t appear to know what was going on either.

“Alright, Dean,” He said, taking his reading glasses off. “What’s up?”

“Well,” Dean stopped. He took a deep breath and started again. “You know how I played football my freshman year and really liked it, but then tried out for baseball and realized that I liked that way more?”

“Yes.”

“Okay, well it’s like that, except it’s not,” Dean said, like everything made absolute sense. John stared at him for a moment, then looked to Mary again.

“Dean, you’re going to have to explain a little bit more,” She said taking a seat next to John.

“Okay. Um, you know how I love pie, but every now and then you make a cake and I think that it’s just the best thing in the universe and I swear I’ll never eat any other kind of dessert again?”

“Dean, could you maybe stop with analogies and get to the point?” John asked. Dean blushed and nodded.

“Right okay. I, uh. Me and Cas are dating.”

“Okay.” John picked his glasses back up and Mary went back to what she was making for dinner. Dean remained where he was, mouth opening and closing like a fish.

“That’s it?” He asked. “I just came out to you and all you have to say is okay?”

“Well it’s not like it was much of a secret,” John said. “You two made out in front of the house for fifteen minutes the other night. I thought I was going to have to spray you with the hose.” Dean’s face turned even more red and John chuckled a little.

“If he makes you happy, we’re happy for you, Dean.”

“Thanks, Dad.” John nodded and went back to his papers.

“Oh, and Dean,” He said, stopping his son before he got all the way out of the room. “The next time you want to keep your relationship a secret, maybe tell Cas not to leave his underwear in your floor.”

Dean’s squeak of embarrassment and stuttered excuses were drowned out by John and Mary’s laughter.

Anon requested: Can you write something about little kids Dean and Cas? I don't have any ideas I just would like one and I hope you have an idea. _______________________________ Mary Winchester hummed to herself as she worked in her garden. She was adding a new place for the flowers that Dean had bought her Mother's Day. She smiled as she remembered the look of pride on his little face when he announced that he had bought them himself with the allowance that he had saved. John gave her a diamond necklace that she quickly tucked under her shirt away from Sammy's grabby hands. Hands that John had dipped in paint, along with Dean's to make a card for her. It had been her best Mother's Day by far. A little tug at her sleeve caused Mary to pause in her digging. She looked back, expecting Dean, but instead came face to face with Castiel Novak. The Novak's had moved in next door a little over a year ago an Dean and Castiel became fast friends. Cas was a sweetheart and Mary loved him to bits. He was holding a little card in his hands. "Hey Cas," She said, wiping her hands. "What can I do for you, honey?" "I made you this," Cas said, thrusting his hand out. Mary smiled and removed her gloves to take the card. "Thank you, Cas." Before she could move to open it, Cas wrapped his tiny arms around her waist and hugged her tight, then ran back across the yard to his own house. Confused, Mary looked down at the front of the card and read the sweet, misspelled, 'Hapy Muthers Day' in the six year olds handwriting. She smiled and opened the card. Inside, there was a drawing that she assumed was of her with a messy heart around it. On the other side were the words "thank you for being my mommy." Mary's chest tightened and tears welled up in her eyes. She couldn't believe that Castiel had done this or the effect that she had on him. She quickly took it inside and put it in the drawer with her other gifts. The next time Cas was over she held him tightly for a few minutes too long and kissed his forehead. ~*~ Thirteen years later, Mary watched Dean kiss Castiel in the living room before they left for graduation. "I'll be right back," She heard Cas say, as he tugged his hand away from Dean's. She turned back to the sink, pretending to be washing dishes when Cas walked in. "Mary?" "Yes, sweetheart?" "I just wanted to thank you. For everything. You raised me more than my own mother ever did." "Well, you were here all the time," Cas smiled and ducked his head. "I love you, Castiel. I was happy to take care of you." "Dean and I got you something," He said. Dean appeared in the doorway with a jewelry box in his hands. "Thank you, Mom," He said, kissing her cheek and putting the box in her hands. "You boys didn't have to get me anything." "We wanted to," Cas said. "Open it." Mary gasped when she opened the box and found a diamond bracelet inside. "It matches your necklace," Dean said. "We thought–" He was cut off when Mary pulled them both in for a tight hug. "I love it. Thank you, boys." "Let me help you," Dean said, taking the bracelet and clasping it around her wrist. "It's beautiful." "We should get going," Dean said. He kissed her cheek again and took Cas's hand. A strong arm slipped around Mary's shoulders as they walked out the door. She leaned against John's chest and he kissed her hair. "We did good," He said. "Yeah. We did."

Wildest Dreams (Chapter 2)

The first day of school was always awful. New faces and names to remember, students that switched seats every day, students that dropped his class after three days. And his favorite part - trying to convince high school students that Shakespeare is cool and that Fifty Shades of Grey fanfiction wasn’t creative writing.

He arrived home at four thirty and collapsed on the couch. He didn’t move when Dean came home half an hour later. He let out a huff when Dean laid down on top of him.

He moved after a minute and Cas turned to look at him.

"How was your day?"

"Long," Cas answered, reaching to run his fingers through Dean’s hair.

"Wanna go get some dinner?" Cas groaned.

"I don’t want to move."

"I’ll order in," Dean kissed his forehead, then went to the phone. Cas heard him talking and he thanked the person on the other end of the line.

"Come here," Cas opened his arms and Dean crawled on top of him again. He laid his head on his chest and sighed when Cas’s fingers found his hair.

They didn’t need to talk because they already knew what the other would say. ————————————————————— Dean slammed the car door when he got in, fuming.

Another empty building. Another waste of hours they needed.

"Dean-" Sam started.

"Don’t. Damn it!"

"We’ll find him."

"Sure we will. He’ll just be dead if we do."

"No, he won’t. We still have ten buildings, if we split up-"

"So that thing can take one of us? Definitely not."

"Dean, we know how to fight them and how to defend ourselves. Cas didn’t. If we split up, it won’t take nearly as long."

Dean was quiet for a long time. So long Sam started to get worried.

"Fine," He finally said.

They looked over their list of building and split them up between themselves.

"Call if you find him," Sam said.

"You, too. Be careful." ————————————————————— The months flew by and before Cas knew it, it was Christmas.

He and Dean had spent weeks looking for the perfect gifts for everyone and eventually they did.

A vacation for John and Mary to a nice beach house in the Outer Banks. Gift cards and money for Sam for school. New Magic Cards and a donation to Moondoor for Charlie.

Cas bought Dean a new jacket and some new tools for the garage. Dean got him some school supplies he’d been loathe to buy and several first edition books he’d been looking for.

Dean left the house early to help Mary make dinner, leaving Cas to grade his final exams in a silent house.

He joined them at the Winchester house at five. Dean met him under a doorway where mistletoe was hanging.

"Really?"

"It’s tradition, baby." They kissed and Cas went to help Mary set the table.

"I wish Sam could be here," Mary said. "But I’m glad he’s at school and that he’s doing okay."

"Me, too. We sent him his gift yesterday."

Mary touched his face in a motherly way that Castiel wasn’t a costumed to.

"I’m glad that Dean has you, Castiel. Thank you for taking care of him."

"Thank you for accepting me."

Mary smiled at him, and Castiel pulled her into a hug. She stepped back when the doorbell rang.

"I wonder who that could be," she said, wiping her hands on her apron.

Cas followed her down the hall, going to join John and Dean in the living room.

"Sam!" He paused at Mary’s excited shout.

Sure enough, the youngest Winchester was standing in the doorway, looking very confused.

He wrapped his arms tightly around his mother when she hugged him. Like he hadn’t seen her in years.

"Why didn’t you tell us you were coming!"

John and Dean joined them then, rushing to hug Sam and question his sudden appearance, but Castiel didn’t need to. He already new why Sam was there.

To take him home.

Letters From Home

Sergeant Turner passed out mail while everyone was eating dinner.

"Whatcha got there, Dean-o?" Benny asked as Dean opened his letter.

"From my mom," Dean shrugged. "Nothing special."

"Come on, brother, we wanna hear." Everyone at the table, guys that didn’t have people to sent them letters, agreed. Dean sighed.

I want to things from the Supernatural series finale

1. For the cast to take over the CW or TNT for a day and have a huge recap and talk about the show and each other.

2. At the end, when the Winchesters and Cas are dead, I want John and Mary and Chuck to appear while the lullaby version of Carry On My Wayward Son plays in the background. I want Mary to brush Sam’s hair out of his face and wipe the blood away and for John to tell Dean that he’s proud of him and that he did well. I want Chuck to touch Cas’s hair and tell him something godly, like “You’ve done we’ll, my son, now return to the bosom of your family.” And all their souls rise at the same time.

Follow You Anywhere (Chapter 5)

Dean looked around his now empty bedroom and sighed. In a few hours he was going to be living in his apartment a hundred miles away. He was sad to leave the place that he and Sam had grown up in.

"Okay, son?" He looked back at John and nodded.

"Yeah. It's just weird, you know." John put his arm around his shoulder. It was strange to get such a gesture, but Dean rolled with it. He was even more surprised by what John said next.

All The Moments That Shape Our Lives: Stamp 4 - Add Another Limb

This chapter contains: Alcoholism, fighting, pregnancy, the mention of abortion, mentions of miscarriage, child birth, blood, angst, and whole lot of fluff.

Dean and Castiel had been married for a little over a year when the trouble started.

Dean had opened his garage and Castiel had finished school, and he did the books, like John had predicted. They worked well together and everyone told them that they needed to get a room and it was a good arrangement. Until Dean, being Dean, started flirting.

It was harmless, of course, and Castiel knew that he would never act on it. But it still hurt to see Dean smile at pretty girls and attractive men. It hurt that he looked when they showed off. Whenever Castiel brought it up, though, Dean brushed it off. He told him to stop worrying because nothing was going to happen.

Then, one day, a customer took it too far and kissed him. Castiel had walked in on them and had fled before Dean could stop him. They had their first fight that night and Castiel cried when Dean accused him of not trusting him and stormed out. An hour later he came back and they made up, both apologizing over and over.

The fights kept coming. Over money, over work, over the flirting, and especially over Dean’s drinking. Dean would always leave, then come home a few hours later stinking of smoke and booze. Castiel would put him to bed in the guest room and sleep alone in their bed.

Things weren’t always like that, though, and the had way more good days than bad. They would laugh and go on surprise trips and make love in the kitchen in the middle of the day. They still loved each other more than anything.

Imagine a high school au....

Where Dean and Castiel have been together since forever and John and Mary love Cas like one of their own. And Dean and Cas and Jo decide to go as a trio to a Halloween party but when Dean comes down in a leather jacket and and t-shirt, his parents are confused because that's how Dean always dresses. And It doesn't help when Jo walks dressed like she always is, either. When John and Mary ask, Dean says that he's the Doctor (from series one because Cas likes Christopher Eccleston the best) and Jo is Rose and Cas is going as Captain Jack. And John (who has no clue who Rose and the Doctor are) is trying to picture Cas in a pirate outfit until he walking in leather pants and a white t-shirt and Dean can't even talk because Cas is so hot.

The Things You Miss (Chapter 7)

It didn’t take long for the battle to approach. Sam was surprised at the way it had been organized. John and Alistair had agreed on a neutral location and that there would be no weapons. It seemed more gang rumbles that Sam had read about in books than a war. But he knew it wasn’t.

He knew that people weren’t coming home. That his brother, his father, his uncle, his friends, may not return to their families. That was why it was so hard for him to get out of bed the day the war began, to kiss Jess goodbye and make the drive to John and Mary’s home, where civilians would be waiting. Why it was so hard to watch Dean hug his kids goodbye.

“Why are you crying, Daddy?” He heard Page ask when Dean kneeled down in front of him.

“Daddy’s gotta go away for a while, bud,” Dean answered. “I gotta go on an adventure.”

“Like Bilbo?” Dean’s laugh sounded like a sob in Sam’s ears.

“Yeah. Like Bilbo.”

“How long will you be gone?”

“I don’t know, buddy. It might be a long time.” Page wrapped his skinny arms around Dean’s neck.

“It’s okay, Daddy.” Dean hugged him back and Page wriggled uncomfortably. “Too tight, Daddy!”

He went through the same speech with Morrison, who replaced Bilbo with Batman, then hugged him, too.

The water works really started when he scooped Stevie into his arms and held her close. She was too little to really understand, but she knew Daddy wasn’t going to be there to tuck her in tonight.

The Things You Miss (Chapter 6)

Sam couldn’t hear anything over the yelling in the meeting hall.

It looked like every wolf in the Pack was there to express their opinion on the fight that was approaching. Alphas calling for bloodshed, Betas give statistics, and Omegas quietly taking it all in.

John stepped onto the stage with Dean and everyone went silent.

“You all know why you’re here,” John said, looking at them all. “Alistair Hawthorne killed one of our own and there is a tough choice to make.”

“War!” An Alpha yelled, and the racket started up again.

“Quiet!” John demanded and everyone settled. “War may seem like the easy answer, but it’s not always so simple. The Hawthorne is large. They cheat, lie. They don’t care what the rules of war are.” A hand raised hesitantly and John nodded at the Beta.

“What brought on the attack?” Dean stood, then.

“Alistair has been offering his alliance for months. I’ve kept refusing. The murder was retaliation.”

“Why didn’t you just agree?” An Alpha yelled. “It may never have happened!” They was a murmur of agreement and Dean’s eyes flashed.

“So he could have killed somewhere else? So he can continue to allow murder and mayhem in his Pack? You see what he does when he doesn’t get his way, murdering innocents as revenge, and you want to be allies? To protect him when he goes to war?” Everyone stopped and a small woman stood up, tears on her face.

“He was my son,” She said. “My Andrew. And I am heart broken, I will never be the same again. But I do not want our Pack connected to anyone who would do such a thing to any mother. I wouldn’t ask you to make that alliance, even if it could bring my son back.” She sat back down, leaning heavily into the man beside her.

“Thank you,” Dean said, looking at them. “If there is anything I can do.” They nodded their thanks.

“Alright,” John said, bringing attention back to the issue at hand. “decisions have to be made now. Do we go to war?”

A resounding cry of ‘yay’ went up and John nodded.

“Who fights? Just Alphas? Betas?” An Omega stood, her eyes gleaming.

“I want to avenge my friend. Omegas fight, too.”

“All in favor?” Another shout of agreement.

  “Where?”

“We should blitz them,” Someone said. “Like they did Andy. Hit them when they least expect it!”

“Alistair isn’t stupid. He’s probably been building an army since before the attack. This has to be  formally declared.” Dean said. “We should meet in a no man’s land. We won’t have an advantage, but neither will they. Even the odds.”

  “All in favor?”

Things went more smoothly than Sam expected them to. Everyone’s voice was heard, everyone voted. The decisions were made in a few hours.

Sam found Cas outside afterwards, rubbing his belly unconsciously. He looked worried and tired.

The Things You Miss (Chapter 5)

Dean loved waking up in the same bed as Cas, especially after a night like the one before. Cas was still sleeping when he rolled over, and Dean stared at his husband's face.

He would never get over how beautiful Cas was. All dark hair and blue eyes and perfect features. He looked even better when he was pregnant, all glowy or whatever. Dean ran his fingertips over Cas’s cheek, mesmerized.

Cas’s eyes fluttered open as he caught Dean’s hand and kissed his fingers. Then he crawled out of bed and walked to their bathroom. A few minutes of retching and teeth brushing later, he was back in Dean’s lap.

“Isn’t there something they can give you for the morning sickness? I mean, you get all day sickness.”

“I’m sure there is, but I don’t want it. You know I don’t like taking anything while I’m pregnant.”

“Baby, all that stuff is safe. It’s gotta be, if they’re gonna sell it.” Cas shook his head and placed Dean’s hand on his stomach.

“This is our child, Dean. I’m not going to risk hurting him or her because I get sick. I’ve gone through three pregnancies this way, and I’m sure I’ll go through more. Don’t worry.” Dean kissed him, then, shifting his hand to Cas’s hip. He was about to roll them over when his office phone rang. Castiel laughed at his groan.

“Sorry, Alpha. Duty calls,” Cas said, pushing him out of bed. Dean stuck his tongue out and went down the stairs.
