Today is the Feast Day of Saint Bartholemew, one of the Twelve Apostles! Little is known about St Bart but some scholars identify him with Nathanael, a man of Cana in Galilee who was summoned to Jesus by Philip. Jesus paid him a great compliment: “Here is a true Israelite. There is no duplicity in him” (John 1:47b). When Nathanael asked how Jesus knew him, Jesus said, “I saw you under the fig tree” (John 1:48b). Whatever amazing revelation this involved, it brought Nathanael to exclaim, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel” (John 1:49b). But Jesus countered with, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this” (John 1:50b). Maximilian Kolbe was a Polish priest who died as prisoner 16770 in Auschwitz, on August 14, 1941. When a prisoner escaped from the camp, the Nazis selected 10 others to be killed by starvation in reprisal for the escape. One of the 10 selected to die, Franciszek Gajowniczek, began to cry: My wife! My children! I will never see them again! At this Maximilian Kolbe stepped forward and asked to die in his place. His request was granted. Franciszek Gajowniczek lived through WWll and was at the Canonisation of Maximilian the Polish priest who saved his life.

As the month of #May - the month of #Mary - ends, we celebrate the Feast of the #Visitation, commemorating when a pregnant Mary visited her cousin, Elizabeth, also pregnant with a son, who would become John the Baptist.

As Mary arrived at the house, John the Baptist leaped inside Elizabeth's womb, and Elizabeth gave a loud cry and said, ‘Of all women you are the most blessed, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.' 😃

And then Mary said... (see picture)

Happy Saint Patrick's Day to all our friends!

More than just wearing green, eating green food and drinking celebratory feast day drinks, we also pray through the intercession of the great missionary Saint whom we celebrate today.

According to tradition, St. Patrick wrote the prayer (later named "Saint Patrick’s Breastplate") in 433 A.D. for divine protection before successfully converting the Irish King Leoghaire and his subjects from paganism to Christianity.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, Saint Patrick wanted you to be present in everything he did, and said. We pray that we too have the same desire and wish.

Saint Patrick, Patron Saint of Ireland guide us and intercede for us during this Lenten Season.

Amen.
