much better footage of the haka that shut down parliament today
lmao
i talk a lot of shit about how dire the state of the world is, but sometimes headlines like this make me somewhat thankful that i'm living through this time in history
they're going to fucking euthanize him
Fun fact: Arizona is the only place in the country where the state mine inspector is an elected position
Another fun fact: this is one of my favorite political ads of all time, straight out of 2014
I forgot vampire bats were a thing and thought they were referring to the folklore kind of vampire
the subtle advocation for kids to be playing in the abandoned copper mines is also not great
remember when this was the craziest thing politicians ever said
this could work. we never tried it
its making me scream laugh

The original video, for anyone who hasn't seen it:
And the relevant album cover:
Sessler was a teenager when "We're Not Gonna Take It" it was on the charts. Probably had MTV so he saw the video.
No fuckin' idea how he thought it was in support of "traditional American values."
Never not reblog. Dee Snider is iconic and queer as fuck for a cishet man.

No one disrespects my man Dee in this house.
Never forget when he sat in front of a congressional hearing about Lewd Music Corrupting the Youth and completely shut that shit down in the most professional manner that no member of that committee expected from a hair metal musician. They thought they'd get easy points off of a dumb metalhead and this man not only knew exactly what the fuck he was talking about, he tore their arguments apart.
no fucking way
major greek news channel used kojima’s insta photos saying he’s the man who killed the former prime minister of japan. i am not joking.
Oh so it’s not just french right wing?
Another one.
foreign countries folks, please keep the polish LGBT community in your thoughts
tomorrow evening (28.10.2021 r.) the first sejm (polish parliament) reading of "Stop LGBT" legislative bill is going to take place. the bill objective is to ban all gatherings in support of LGBT people or LGBT rights
the bill would infringe on constitutional right to public assemblies and right to free speech and make any debates on LGBT rights or discrimination it faces (which the bill justification suggest that "the homosexual community" does not experience) virtually impossible.
currently, despite being a member state of the EU, Poland does not recognize same-sex partnerships and offers minimal legal protection to the LGBT minority (~2 milion citizens), while some cities and regions declare themselves as LGBT free zones
the justification of the bill includes (but is not limited to): "protection of marriage as traditional union between men and women", LGBT causes being supported by multinational corporations (it uses a picture of a rainbow IKEA bag as justification), comparing gay men to paedophiles, saying that the heterosexuals are the majority, protection of children and protection of religious catholic feelings
a similar law currently functions in Russia, where any public discussion on LGBT rights or any public display of affection of same-sex couples is prohibited and punished by jail to not "demoralize the children"
the Supreme Court unsuprisingly did not have any objections to the project
the project is a public initiative that raised over 130 000 signatures. the project promotional site uses stock footage of pride parades held in different countries (such as germany, the netherlands or the uk) in order to mislead the public to what pride marches actually look like in poland. the woman behind the project is named Kaja Godek, who just last year helped to pass a bill which made all abortions due to critical defects of the fetus illegal, practicaly banning all abortion in Poland. the bill caused the biggest protests in history of modern Poland since the fall of the communist state. due to that, it is possible that the Stop LGBT legislation bill will be treated seriously, or at least cause some major polarization in society
please, keep us in mind and if things turn sour don't hesitate to call your local polish ambassy or notify your local LGBT organization
(also while we're at it it is worth looking into what is happening at polish-belarusian border and how the migrants there are dying. i believe the lgbt bill being discussed now is a tactic to distract the public from human rights violation of this so-called civilized country)
From the mouth of a One Percenter -
Abigail Disney
!!!!!!!!!!!
“Yes, there is a superyachtinvestor.com. Go look at it and it will make you so angry, you could chew glass.”
we stan class traitors on this blog
Abigail Disney has no control or input on the operations of the corporation, she is a Disney heiress and, in that respect, nothing else. She puts her money towards philanthropy, especially women’s movements around the globe and peace organizations like Peace is Loud and the Global Fund for Women. She is a documentary filmmaker who explores these themes as well.
There are problematic family investments she earns money from that, legally, she cannot divest from. Instead, she donates these profits to charities that counter to those investments.
Reblogging this version because I needed to read this after watching the video
In loving memory of John McCain, here are some of his proudest achievements:
Supporting legislation to forcefully relocate native American populations Calling Vietnamese people “g**ks” Using his power as a senator to help the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association swindle the life savings of tax payers in one of the biggest political scandals in American history as a member of the Keating Five
the general food production industry (agribusiness, intensive animal farming, fisheries) in the u.s. is absolutely disgusting and i literally cannot think of a single good thing it does ethically, legally, socially, &c. and yet it’s put on the backburner for comparatively tiny but more performative issues like reduced vehicle emissions. obviously as someone who cares about the state of the planet any forward progress makes me happy but it feels like we’re deliberately avoiding the biggest contributor here.
food imports/direct trade models often set extremely low labour standards for the sake of max profit and getting around growing seasons, CAFOs are literal breeding grounds for powerful and virulent diseases (zoonotic or not), domestic meat/dairy farmers/processing staff are underpaid and overworked in both physically and psychologically exhausting settings while living at a heightened risk for disease, bycatch in fishing is at an all time high to the point where one pound of shrimp has six pounds of unusable bycatch to it (which can include vulnerable if not endangered species), the subsidy based system distorts prices and locks what few local farmers we have into farming for generations, and the list goes on for probably miles at this point.
