“I wanted you to fight for me and you didn’t.”
Dean had those same piercing green eyes that you remembered. eyes that you had looked at every night for years, eyes you thought you would look into for the rest of your life.
“Y/N, we knew that it was never going to work, I was a hunter and you were just a college student trying to go to law school”
You could feel the saltwater in your eyes just thinking about when you first met him at Stanford.
“I ruined Sam’s path, the same exact path you had, all because of hunting. I couldn’t ruin yours too.”
Dean hadn’t moved an inch since the moment the conversation started.
“I fell in love with you the moment you and your brother came to Stanford for that case, and for three years all you did was lie to me. You told me you loved me but all you were doing was stringing me along.”
he took his first step toward you but you put one foot behind you to keep the same distance.
“I never lied to you Y/N. I loved you more than I had ever loved anyone. every second of those three years and every day after I have loved you.”
he took another step and you didn’t hasten a retreat this time.
“Then why did you say the things that you did that night Dean?”
he continued his advance toward you.
“I didn’t want you to get hurt in the long run, I didn’t want you injured, killed, or worse because of the line of work I’m in. So I hurt you in that moment to stop any future hurt, it was the only way.”
“Well you did hurt me in the long run Dean.”
