You placed your shotgun next to the dozen or so rocksalt rounds in your duffle bag and wandered into the bathroom to grab your toiletries bag.
you reached out for the cabinet door above the sink grabbing onto the rusty handle and pulling it open. you had your fingers wrapped around your toothbrush when the atmosphere changed and you felt a presence behind you.
figuring it was just Dean walking into your shared room you turned around, but your boyfriend’ s face was not who you encountered.
instead you were nose to nose with a certain angel in his classic trench coat.
you jumped back almost falling on top of the sink covered in Dean’ s colognes and your hair products.
“Holy shit Cas, you gave me a heart attack, maybe next time clear your throat or announce yourself or something”
Cas took a step back smoothing out his trench coat and playing with his hands, he didn’t say anything, he just stood there, his blue eyes staring into your concerned and confused ones.
“Are you okay Cas?”
he opened his mouth a few times as though words would roll off his tongue, but it wasn’t until the third or fourth time that they finally did
“Y/N, we have to talk about something, it’s really important”
You passed around him walking back into the bedroom, he followed in tow standing on the wall opposite of where you went and sat on the bed.
“Okay, does this have to do with Dean and Michael? Because Michael is gone forever, we don’t have to worry about him anymore.”
Cas bounced on the balls of his feet, he definitely didn’t want to have this conversation, you could tell.
“In heaven there’s a book that lists each couple in the world that must end up together, John Winchester and Mary Campbell were in it as the number one priority, and that came to be as you well know. When the top priority is finished the next in line moves up. Well Y/N, you.. uh.. you’re”
you had no idea where the angel was going with this, and you didn’t understand what this book had to do with you.
“Cas just spit it out, what are you talking about?”
Castiel stood up straight walking away from the wall he was leaning against amd moving toward you.
“The number one priority in the book is now Y/N L/N and Castiel, angel of the lord.”
everything went numb, you saw Cas standing in front of you but you couldn't even look look into his ocean eyes because you were drowning in your own type of sea.
