What makes me most sad is how much the jatp cast loved the show, how much they wanted a second season, how much they loved their characters, how much they loved the music they made, how much they wanted a tour, and how much they loved each other and loved working together.

And they still to this day four years later, still love it all.

What a missed opportunity to have an amazing cast and an amazing series with multiple seasons, albums, and a beautiful storyline.

In case y’all didn’t hear the JATP writers & fantoms will be striking at Netflix in Los Angeles on Friday not only to show Netflix execs how they seriously messed up in canceling this show but also for the numerous other shows Netflix has cancelled prematurely.

Saw this on Instagram and wanted to share here in case anyone was interested!! 👻

I asked ChatGPT why Netflix should renew Julie and the Phantoms.

Julie and the Phantoms is a musical comedy-drama series that premiered on Netflix in September 2020. The show is about a teenage girl named Julie who discovers a band from the 90s called Sunset Curve, who have been dead for 25 years, and can only be seen by her. The show has garnered a loyal fan base since its release, and there are several reasons why Netflix should renew it for a second season.

Firstly, the show has received critical acclaim for its engaging storyline, catchy music, and talented cast. The series has been praised for its ability to combine elements of music, comedy, and drama, making it a unique and entertaining show for audiences of all ages. Additionally, the show's soundtrack, which features original songs performed by the cast, has been a hit with fans, with many of the songs charting on music streaming platforms.

Secondly, the show has a diverse and inclusive cast, which has resonated with viewers. The main character, Julie, is played by a young actress of color, and the show's supporting cast includes actors from various ethnic backgrounds and sexual orientations. The show's focus on diversity and inclusivity has made it a favorite among viewers who are looking for more representation in mainstream media.

Thirdly, the show has a passionate and dedicated fan base. Since its release, fans have been vocal about their love for the show, taking to social media to express their desire for a second season. The show's popularity has even led to the creation of fan-made content, such as artwork and music covers, which further demonstrates the show's impact on its viewers.

Finally, the show has the potential for further development and exploration of its characters and storyline. The first season left several plot points unresolved, such as the true cause of Sunset Curve's death, and the potential romantic relationships between the characters. Additionally, the show's focus on music provides ample opportunities for new songs and performances, which could further engage audiences in a potential second season.

In conclusion, Julie and the Phantoms is a unique and entertaining show that has received critical acclaim and has a passionate fan base. The show's focus on diversity and inclusivity, engaging storyline, and catchy music make it a valuable addition to Netflix's original programming. Renewing the show for a second season would not only satisfy the show's dedicated fans but also provide an opportunity for further development of the show's characters and storylines.

I don’t know… something about JATP being mentioned in articles like these 3 years after it’s premiere and a little over a year after it’s cancellation really just twists the knife 🤧

I always think about it as like a “haha! Just bc you cancelled us isn’t gonna stop it from being talked about. Take that 😎” which I mean I feel like says something there that even after what’s happened to it it’s still being mentioned. Please still mention this 3 time Emmy award winning show years after its fate

Oh I agree!! It absolutely should be mentioned and speaks to how genuinely good the show is that after all this time it’s still being mentioned. Last fall it was the Grammy website and now it’s Rolling Stone. Pretty freaking cool.

Netflix: we’ve never cancelled a successful show, all the shows we cancelled had very small audiences

JatP:

*proceeds to get “SaveJatp” on billboards across countries including the Orpheum one*

But nah yeah “small audience”

So, considering that Kenny just confirmed the ending and apparently Netflix refused to sell him the rights, it's pretty sure we won't get a s2 or anything. So here's all the stuff he revealed at the BTTMW2 M&G for season 2.

  • Nick, possessed by Caleb, insinuates himself into Julie's life
  • But Nick is still there and, at some point, saves Julie from Caleb and expels him. Afterward, he suffers from amnesia but slowly pieces things together and realizes that the Phantoms are ghosts.
  • Kenny didn't make it clear if the curse was lifted from the Phantoms completely.
  • Caleb has a daughter who has a crush on Luke.
  • The woman who handed Julie the dahlia before the Orpheum was actually an angel.
  • They somehow wanted to bring Julie's mom back into the story as a kind of savior. But Kenny didn't specify any details. I assume she's also an angel.
  • There was also a huge story for Carlos planned.
  • Alex reconciles with his family -- it wasn't specified with which family members exactly -- and uses a wind chime to communicate with them
  • Julie's quinceañera was supposed to become a plot point
