Do you still get residuals from episodes being played on streaming services?
I know that was one of the reasons for the strike, but I’m not clear entirely on how that works, as one of the articles I read mentioned a threshold of viewership to pass for residuals
I do! I'm not entirely sure how the math works, but that was actually a big part of the LAST strike (in 2007-8), and in recent years, streaming residuals on DS9, Andromeda, and Elementary have made up a significant part of my residuals.

Was the fact that this is an election year something that was studiously ignored when writing Past Tense(the most tragic thing about which is how optimistic its vision of a dystopia is - provision made for the homeless, however shitty, and no nazis), or something that didn't come up?
It wasn't particularly relevant to our story so we didn't bring it up, but it does make sense that one of the ways the Bell Riots influenced the Star Trek timeline is in who got elected in 2024. If only...
I just wanted to say thank you so much for all your work on DS9. I first encountered it as a teenager (I was home sick with migraines a lot back then and DS9 reruns were my comfort watch and kept me sane) but also Star Trek was one of the things that inspired me to become a scientist, especially all the creative worldbuilding and all the aliens. I used to have a lot of fun thinking about theoretical xenobiology, and now I do comparative metabolism/physiology/nutrition research, albeit in Earth mammals. DS9 was such a lifeline to me as a teen in other ways too - I identified with Bashir a lot growing up, especially excitement about things, and his love of science but how he wasn't the best with people per se - and he and Garak are still my favorite Trek characters.
Also I wanted to say how much I love Elementary, it is my favorite Sherlock Holmes adaptation, hands down, it has such a great emotional core to it and the humor is perfect.
Thank you for all the amazing stories and all your hard work on them, and I hope your day is going awesome!

something i've noticed about elementary is how normal the women are treated. they are not believed to be less then, they're not belittled. in fact, there's so many strong women in this show it's so?? refreshing ESPECIALLY for a 2010s show. like ofc you have sherlock complaining about joan dating people but it's NOT "she's a women looking for her worth in a man" and he really does respect and appreciate her
also the season 2 queer rep is great? ik it's all background characters but it's fun and causal and the 'gay' vs 'gey' was so funny?
idk, i think it's just really nice for a 2010s show. women are just people, that's it.
