With the roaring of an engine, Gotham city’s buildings became a blurred mess of lines and lights behind the bullet-proof, darkened windows of the bat-mobil. The sounds were muffled inside the vehicle and allowed you a moment of silence and peace after a rather long night of fighting, the sun already starting to appear on the horizon behind the skyscrapers. You couldn’t quite help the heaviness of your eyelids or how your thoughts seemed to doze off every few minutes and neither could you help it when you finally drifted off into a light slumber and Bruce, who was a big fat softy at heart, couldn’t bring it over him to wake you up again. He hadn’t seen you that peaceful since Damian had left for his Titans mission about two weeks ago. Sometimes he caught you looking longingly at the Pictures of him and his family - and some with you - on the mantelpiece in the main living room and it was obvious how much you missed your best friend, but still you had declined his repeated offer to make an exception and contact him, cause no matter how much you loved him, you knew that he wouldn’t be happy about you breaking procedure for a simple chat. Quite honestly you weren’t too sure how he had become your best friend, it just seemed that one day you were talking to him, the next you were fighting alongside him and the day after he called you his best friend (with Jon in a very jealous second place) in that grumpy tone he had almost always equipped. But here you are now, Damian Wayne’s best friend and member of the Batfamily, and you wouldn’t change it for anything in the world. Still, if you’d be able to change one thing, than it was not being allowed to be a part of the Titans because of your ‘lack-of-experience’ - like it had ever stopped anyone else on that Team - because that would mean you wouldn’t have to spend weeks not being able to sleep, wondering if your best friend would come back or not. Bruce gently shook you awake after the Batmobil came to a halt in the cave and slowly your eyes fluttered open and you sat up, looking around slightly confused. “Huh?” you just mumbled, still somewhat sleepy and Bruce had to do his best to resist the urge to smile, “Why are we back? I thought our shift was until five?” “It is five,” Bruce quietly, but with a certain softness to his tone, told you and opened his door, gesturing for you to do the same. After quickly stretching your neck out and getting that satisfying little crack out of it, you shook yourself awake again and exited the car into the vast space below the manor. Quickly you jogged up to Bruce who had already taken his cowl off and somehow had managed to make his hair not look like it had been pressed against his head under a piece of fabric that was not really the most breathable. You were just about to pull your own mask and headpiece off when the echoes of voices behind the corner that parted the two of you and the training area sounded through the cave. Bruce’s eyes met yours and both of your hands immediately flew downwards towards your respective belts, but before either of you could take defensive action a familiar voice gave you a good idea of who was in the cave with you. “So which of us is going to tell him?” Rachel asked and her typically slightly monotonous tone of voice was laced with a sort of worry that would have usually made you listen up closely, but the prospect of seeing Damian again made you ignore it and start out in another jog to get to the training area with Bruce - without changing his pace - hot on your heel. You came sliding around the corner, your eyes flying over the small crowd that was gathered there before you came to a complete stop and froze. Unassuming at your reaction, Bruce also came around the corner with his cowl back on, asking: “Tell me what?” All eyes, except for yours which were still frozen in place, immediately jumped to Bruce who even under his cowl visibly was raising an unimpressed eyebrow. His eyes quickly assessed the people in his training room. Rachel was leaning against the ring rope of the training ring with a green monkey - also known as Garfield Logan - being in the process of climbing down from her shoulder to the ropes, Victor was sitting on one of the benches at the side of the room and Kory was levitating in typical fashion a few inches above ground with a eerily worried expression. All of this was - while admittedly somehow off considering that none of these people should be there at the moment - nothing to be concerned about. What was definitely a cause of wonder - or rather a problem-to-be, was the fifth member of the group. It was not, as expected from the context of the mission they had just been on, Damian. No, it looked more like hey had travelled back in time twenty years, grabbed Bruce’s long lost (nonexisting to his knowledge) twin and taken him back with them, because the man that was standing leaning against the wall with his arms crossed in front of his impressive chest and an amused smile dancing on the edge of his lips, looked like a Carbon copy of Bruce down to the hair looking perfectly ruffled and yet incredibly styled on his head. The only things that alluded to there was not a genetic clone standing in front of Bruce were the little differences in his face and build, the different tone of skin and - probably standing out the most - the venomous green that filled his eyes and was looking back into where Bruce had a dark blue.
