Remember: you are only legally obliged to follow a judicial warrant, signed by a judge, if ICE tries to arrest an undocumented immigrant. They will often show you a DHS warrant and try to convince you that it’s sufficient- they’re lying, which they are legally allowed to do. Hey! Fellow Americans! Are you fucking tired of living in a police state yet???? Do you like being treated like a criminal when you're driving down the street or walking up the sidewalk? Do you like middle of the night phone calls from your kids, or nieces and nephews asking for bail money just because they went by some food in the middle of the night and forgot that joint was in their pocket? Do you like when cops just start firing off gun shots in the middle of the street, not even trying to watch for innocent bystanders, all because they got spooked by a drug addict running away? Do like the feeling of being watched every time you're out after dark?

Well this is the country we've built. Whether it's immigration policing through ICE and CBP, or it's school resource officers and college campus police, or state, town and city police or sheriffs deputies, federal police like ATF, DEA, and Homeland Security; we've completely relinquished our most basic civil rights and liberties. We've handed out badges and guns and gave young, mostly white, men licenses to kill anyone that spooks them in the least bit, or whom they're intimidated by, or even feel disrespected by, all in the name of a false sense of safety. We gave these goons in uniform carte blanche to roam around poor and minority neighborhoods looking for young black and brown men and women to fill our private prisons with for a little profit and told them to kill anyone that pisses them off.

I hope everyone's real proud of this result, one born out of the legacy of slavery and Jim Crow.

If you're not ready to change this fucked up system, this fucked up society we've created, then sooner or later it's going to come for you and your loved ones. So if you're not going to help make change in the name of morality and decency, then at least help us out of a basic sense of self preservation. Because it will touch your life eventually, and by then it may be too late.

In a thread among the comments section of a YouTube video on White Collar crime, someone asked this question:

"Why DOES America treat non-violent drug charges way worse than a guy who robs people of their life savings, wrongfully evict others, etc.?"

I thought I'd share my response, as little justice as it does to a vast array of complex issues and power dynamics. However, I think it's useful for understanding the underlying history that has led the US to the multitudes of social, cultural and political, and economic breakdown we are living through and witnessing today:

America and Capitalism can together be summed up in one quote, “You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.”

We treat those who can do nothing to advance ourselves like garbage while rewarding those who act badly if they're in positions of power.

These power dynamics are inherent to laissez-faire Capitalism, which has been literally ingrained into our national id. It's Social Darwinism in it's rawest form.

Racism and drug prohibition both have their roots in the laissez-faire or Neoliberal ideology.

To keep order and prevent revolt from class based exploitation, a scape goat must be used to make the exploited feel better about their own powerlessness. That scape goat started with Indigenous peoples and Black slaves to keep the European indentured servants from revolting and has continued in various forms in America for more than 300 years.

It rears its ugly head most unambiguously in our legal and educational systems, which work in tandem to exclude the vast majority of black and brown citizens by disinvesting from their communities and then incarcerating them for black-market and property crimes.

And that's just a crude summery of an incredibly complex issue.
