I just want to reblog this post again because people really haven't heard about this tragedy and it's been going on without being resolved for 4 years and counting! THIS IS THE RESULTS OF THE NEOLIBERAL AGENDA THAT IS SUPPORTED BY THE ESTABLISHMENTS OF BOTH POLITICAL PARTIES!!!!

The refusal by either Democrats or Republicans to invest in residential communities, especially communities of color, all across the country, from Flint Michigan, New Orleans Louisiana, the Catskills in upstate New York, to Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, and many more communities.

Until we organize to fight for our communities large or small, white or black, Christian or Islamic, poor or middle class, both Parties will continue to strip our nation's public resources while cutting taxes on corporations and the super wealthy while dininvesting in our residential communities, defunding public schools, raising tuition costs for students at public colleges, privatizing what public services are left like Obama planned to do with the US Postal Service through his awful free trade deals, and all our communities will be left with poor healhcare, uneducated kids, and hollowed out communities with high property taxes and few if any public services.

The only way to stop this trajectory is to reject establishment candidates, get involved by organizing your communities to fight against the strip mining of your neighborhoods, towns and cities, get involved in campaignls and vote in Democratic primaries to reject the "Centrist" (Neoliberal) candidates and help to elect REAL Progressive candidates that offer bold community based solutions that reject Austerity in favor of INVESTMENT.

The only way to make change is to organize, mobilize and REMOVE the people in the Democratic Party who offer more of the same. Start local, and work you're way up. Join the DSA chapter in your area if it has one and get involved even if you don't consider yourself a Socialist. Another good one to join in some states is the Working Families Party that, like the DSA, works within and outside the Democratic Party to push it in a more Progressive and Social Democratic direction and has not only had some success in this, but has spread to new states the northern mid west in recent years. The Green Party is less effective since the 2000 election but on a local ballot can still be a viable Social Democratic party. And if you live in the Pacific Northwest, Socialist Alternative has shown not only that it can push issues and Dems to the Left, but that it can ACTUALLY elect a Socialist Candidate Kashama Sawant to the Seattle City Council where she pushed and got a $15 minimum wage for the City and has been surprisingly effective in that role.

So options are out there. You CAN do something and make change! Get out there and educate yourself and your loved ones, organize, protest and VOTE!!!

If the REINS ACT passes, ALL FUTURE REGULATIONS involving you and your family's work safety, environmental safety, labor rights, and more will get hung up in Congress where far-right "Conservative" Republicans will be sure to doom them!

Nothing is going to change. Americans love their guns more than they love people and after Sandy Hook we decided that killing over 20 children was acceptable and not outrageous enough to make reasonable restrictions on guns. This is America, a country that has been around for 200 years, a superpower, a 1st world nation, and one of the wealthiest countries on the planet and we refuse to protect our own people. We respect guns more than we respect the lives of people. 

What specific gun control measures would you propose and how would they directly and effectively make society safer?

Can you show me evidence that this would directly and effectively create a safer society?

I have never laughed so hard at a gun law post. Like seriously, the evidence is in fucking reality. The proposed restrictions are just fucking logic.

That's just perfect. Just let the rest of the world speak for itself!

Now let's just do the same with: a Single-Payer Healthcare System, Higher Taxes on the Wealthy to pay for a stronger social safety-net, Paid Family Leave, Paid Sick Leave, Paid Vacations, Large Investments in Public Infrastructure Projects, Major Investments in Public Housing, Free Public Higher Education... and much much more

Trump’s Crony Cabinet May Look Strong, But They Are Scared - Bill Moyers

The people who already possess an absolutely obscene share of the planet’s wealth, and whose share grows greater year after year — at last count, eight men own as much as half the world — are determined to grab still more. The key figures populating Donald Trump’s Cabinet are not only ultrarich — they are individuals who made their money knowingly causing harm to the most vulnerable people on this planet, and to the planet itself. It appears to be some sort of job requirement.

The interests that have long since paid off both major parties to do their bidding have decided they are tired of playing the game. Apparently, all that wining and dining of politicians, all that cajoling and legalized bribery, insulted their sense of divine entitlement.

So what do we do about it? First, we always remember their weaknesses, even as they exercise raw power. The reason the mask has fallen off and we now are witnessing undisguised corporate rule is not because these corporations felt all-powerful; it’s because they were panicked.

Here’s the good news: This is the guy who came to power telling the boldest and brashest of lies, selling himself as a champion of the working man who would finally stand up to corporate power and influence in Washington. 

Something else we have going for us? This administration is going to come after everyone at once. There are reports are of a shock-and-awe budget that will cut $10 trillion over 10 years, taking a chainsaw to everything from violence-against-women programs, to arts programs, to supports for renewable energy, to community policing. It’s clear they think this blitzkrieg strategy will overwhelm us. But they may be surprised — it could well unite us in common cause. And if the scale of the women’s marches is any indication, we are off to a good start. 

Bill Moyers is a personal hero of mine. Few on left are as level headed and brilliant as Mr. Moyers is.
