I just watched Trump give a Press conference and noted a few things:
For one, Trump is (sadly) absolutely correct on a number of issues regarding Middle East policy.
Why were American troops in Syria to begin with?
Well we were told American Special Forces, first 500 and then 2,000, were sent to Syria to fight ISIS. Clearly that was always a sham. Our troops were sent into Syria to present a barrier to block Syrian, Iranian and Russian troops from re-uniting the Syrian State.
Mind you we were in Syria in direct violation of International Law, without the invitation of the sovereign Syrian State.
Now Trump comes along, finishes driving out ISIS, and because as he sees it, because both that job is done, and because now Turkey wants to make a mad dash across Northern Syria to push back Kurdish dominated areas, Trump clearly wants to avoid being in the middle of that messy situation and has decided to remove American troops from that area.
Now, for anyone who listening to the Press conference, Trump twice made reference to a handful of troops who stayed behind in order to "secure the oil".
In one of those rare candid moments when the truth is accidentally spoken aloud.
US troops were certainly there to push back Russian, Syrian, and Iranian troops making headway towards re-establishing the Syrian State, but the real reason, the reason we got involved to begin with, was to "secure the oil".
It's a moment that belies the truth about American Imperialism. It's the pure essence of Capitalistic Imperialism in it's purest form.
Here, all of the stories peddled in the pliant media arms of American Capitalism are exposed for what they are. Cheap tricks to put a thin "Internationalist" veneer on the face of American Imperialism and it's constant drive to expand control over resources.
Trump is also correct when it comes to the Obama Administration and it's war mongering against the DPRK.
Does anyone out there really think a Clinton Administration wouldn't taken the first opportunity it could find to attack the DPRK for no particular reason?
And what threat exactly does a small Socialist country facing embargo with an undeveloped economy pose to the United States???
Yet to a transactional President like Trump, this seems like a lose lose situation, and so he's mostly left the DPRK to its own devices except for the continued embargo against North Korean goods.
Of course none of these actions pleases the Gods of US Imperialism. And so they complain vociferously through their media pawns. Now they use the Democratic Party to urge Imperialist aggression.
And sadly, because Liberals hate anything Trump, they now find themselves on the side of the Neoconservative Foreign Policy establishment, agitating for more war, more aggression and defending the forces of Reaction and Imperialism.
For those on the Left, this is an opportunity to reflect on the role reversals we've seen since the 2016 elections.
Republican voters now call for the return of US troops and the withdrawal from US Empire.
While Democratic voters agitate for more aggression, expanded Empire, and Neoconservative Foreign Policy.
US politics isn't about thoughtful policy or ideological principals. It's about following the tribe of your own Party brand and being used in the games played by various factions of the US Ruling Class.
Neither Democrats nor Republicans offer anything outside a particular faction of the Bourgeoisie. No politician within the two parties sees voters as anything but tools to manipulate and use to put pressure on the Politicians they buy.
The only escape from this false dichotomy is by using Marx and Engel's Historical Materialism to analyse and view our modern world. To see the games of the Bourgeoisie for exactly what they are, and to recognize that participation in Bourgeois democracy cannot and will not lead to any major change.
Only Marxism-Leninism offers a proven strategy for escaping the trap of Bourgeois politics. Only Marxism-Leninism gives us a map for smashing Bourgeois democracy and the Bourgeois State, bringing it to it's knees and establishing true Proletarian Democracy.
As has been proven throughout the last Century, Marxist-Leninist theory has led to successful democratic Revolutions all over the world and has resulted in various experiments in creating a Worker's State, not just another Bourgeois State.
It's time to revive Marxism-Leninism in America, in the West and elsewhere, to form a Marxist Internationalism that can stand in Solidarity with Worker's everywhere and work to bring Socialism to the world.
