reading progressive sex ed caricatures with accurate and detailed and realistic diagrams of sexual organs + shows their variation, but all i can think about is how there is no discussion of what srs is besides the fact that it exists

how may people know the before and afters of vaginoplasty? phalloplasty? meta? how it works at all?

this one has been passed around recently from the mayo clinic and that actually makes me so happy because how many of transfeminine people are aware of what their options even look like?

there’s a diagram for phallo and meta from springer link(i believe) and. honestly i’d never seen these before and i dont think i’ve ever seen any diagrams. i know vaguely because of reading papers or listening to people talk about their experience but i’ve never seen it, yk? it makes me more confident in my choice to get meta when i’m older

There’s a website called Transbucket that has a whole archive of before and after photos, surgery costs, surgeon names and locations, and general feedback on complications, sensation, everything. It’s been around for at least a decade, and there are photos of some folks five or eight years down the line. It’s organized by procedure, and it’s very comprehensive. It’s NSFW of course but it’s an amazing resource!!!

Demystify transition! Break irrational medical fear!

I've actually really wondered the specifics of phallo and meta so seeing diagrams is fucking awesome

Before January 2025:

If you are a USAmerican in a relationship that might be affected by legislation that dissolves same-sex marriages, who may no longer be recognized as next-of-kin, especially if you have children, get your rights in writing!

Your marriage certificate may not be enough to prove you have rights to make medical decisions for non-biological children or for a same-sex spouse or partner.

Go to a lawyer, get it spelled out as clearly as possible that you have a voice in emergency medical and legal situations.

For those of us who aren’t lawyers or well-versed in law generally, can someone clarify what kind of document, by name, people should be drafting with their lawyers? Is it a type of letter, or is there a name for this classification of document? I’m aware that it probably varies by US state, but a lot of people are likely feeling extremely lost right now and don’t know where to start on this. I definitely don’t. I live in a state that isn’t likely to nullify existing marriages or prevent new ones from taking place, but who knows what they’re going to try at the national level and enforce from the top down.

Power of Attorney should cover most partners and spouses to ensure that they will be making each other's health care decisions in cases of serious illness. LGBTQ+ spouses and domestic partners must execute proper Health Care Power of Attorney documents listing each other as the highest priority agents for making each other's health care decisions in case of incapacity.

Here's a resource from GLAD.

I have to double-check every blog name with “rad” or “radical”, and I HATE IT, because rad/radical were some of my favorite words! people who don’t respect trans men/women aren’t radical, they’re tragical!!!

YOU ARE SO RIGHT HOMIE we gotta reclaim rad and radical as phrases only trans people can use forever now

The group released approximately 6,000 crickets from bags hidden on their persons which they snuck through security just before a talk on the “dangers” of medical transition. They made sure to spread the crickets (which do not infest and pose no danger to humans) across the entire hall, in order to ensure the conference could be safely brought to an end. The speech was postponed and later speeches were cancelled.

Saw a post on Twitter that was like "I think it's entirely possible to be trans without dysphoria, but a lot of you are severely underestimating how much dysphoria you actually feel and how much you’ve let fade into background noise" and honestly? Yeah lol.

Avatar

When I still participated in online trans stuff, this was like a gigantic debate for some reason. Dysphoria is a really bad way to tell if you're trans or not, so I just find the whole "is dysphoria required to be trans" concept to be exceptionally useless. Maybe try being trans first and then find out if you were dysphoric all along, it certainly felt this way when I started HRT. If you fixate on "evidence", you may never find "enough" of it to overcome the overwhelming cisnormativity.

At the same time, so many trans people I talk to (including me tbh) seem to be convinced that their suffering doesn't count and it breaks my heart. So many of us are forced to hate ourselves, to never believe ourselves, to minimize ourselves for someone else's sake. I try to help those in my community IRL as much as I can, but there are so many. It hurts.

here since none of you know what a bear is

Srsly thats just a regular hunk. Bear is an important term cos there really wasn’t any word for “handsome heavyset man” before the LGBT community came along and opened our eyes to the truth. Calling skinny buff dudes bears is like all those douchebros who are like “i want a thicc gorl” *points to stick thin woman who just has big booby*

THANK you. And originally it DID just mean fat hairy men exclusively, it was only later that ‘musclebears’ became a thing. But Bear was a reaction to the gay male culture’s obsession with what we now call a twink (which is, to whit: a thin, hairless, youthful man between 18-25), as well as a reaction to the idea that gay men had to be femme in order to be gay, as well as offering body positivity to gay men who were fat, which is an important distinction–Bear Pride is a gay male fat positivity movement/identity, that’s real important and we gotta not forget that, because that support and representation and pride is a protest against the part of gay culture that toxically commodifies male bodies and demands thinness and hairlessness.  /soapbox

anyway i am here for my bear brothers.

now that we know the difference, bears please feel free to send me marriage proposals

what up your local trans bear sharing some background history

Additionally we do have a word for a thin hairy gay guy. It’s otter. You don’t need to steal words from fat people other words already exist

At the company retreat, one extremely drunk girl asked what my pronouns were. (Eventually, it took her a while to word the question.) After the whole conversation was done, she goes- "YEAHHH GURL, Get on with--with THY bad self! See what I did?? They/them/thy."

I was almost holding back tears from trying not to laugh as I told her yes that's great you nailed it honey. Thank you very much I am feeling the love.

Anyway I've been assigned Thee/Thine at Supportive Drunk Girl

Good news. At work today I heard her and some of the other coworkers recounting the retreat, so I went over and I told her "Just so you know, and I mean this genuinely, sincerely, with all love in my heart and not a negative feeling in my body, asking someone their pronouns while you are drunk as a skunk is the funniest thing I've ever seen."

She had absolutely no memory of the conversation of course, but cracked up upon hearing it. When I told her that "They/them/thy" is branded into my brain forever, she immediately went "Pop OFF, your honor!"

So apparently she is exactly as funny when sober.

abstinence only education is so bad for a billion reasons already thoroughly outlined by everyone with the most basic curiosity in how literally any aspect of human sexuality works, but the thing I keep thinking about lately is how effective it is at reinforcing the ideology that sex is inherently for reproduction and that any erotic behavior that doesn’t include potential for reproduction somehow is not sex.

like the line “there is no 100% effective pregnancy prevention except sexual abstinence” was repeated probably dozens of times in every health class I ever had.

I wish I could go back in time & walk into those rooms as an adult dyke and be like, interesting. What about fucking someone with a silicone strap? what about two people frotting or tribbing? what about eating pussy or ass or sucking dick or clit? what about a man without semen fucking a woman without ovaries? what about docking? what about jacking each other off while making out? what about sucking strap? what about scratching a butch’s back with long nails?

The argument falls apart as soon as you’re even mildly aware that reproduction can only happen under very specific & limited forms of sex. which of course is why they have to define all other sexual activity as sodomy that’s evil and perverted to do. it’s all such a fucking joke

The nurse who prescribes my HRT is great, zero complaints, but he can put the ball a little too in-my-court. In my most recent checkup we were talking about adjusting my dose, and he asked what dosage I wanted, and like, that's not a question I am qualified to answer, my guy.

So I said, "My ideal dose is basically that I'm holding an erlenmeyer flask of pure estrogen and someone offscreen yells, 'Doctor, you can't!' and I say, 'Just watch me!' and then I drink it and contort violently around and then fall out of frame and when I pop back into frame I'm played by Anne Hathaway."

And he didn't give me that dose but he did up it, so, like I said, zero complaints.

Hello I heard we needed a trans hydra

I’m guessing this is in some level inspired bythe hydra thingy GAG (anti-trans org) made.

Love to see that people are putting a positive spin on the concept. I mean c’mon, a hydra is objectively cool and awesome, you can’t just make that graphic and not realize it makes “gender ideology” look cool

Context:

The original video, for anyone who hasn't seen it:

And the relevant album cover:

Sessler was a teenager when "We're Not Gonna Take It" it was on the charts. Probably had MTV so he saw the video.

No fuckin' idea how he thought it was in support of "traditional American values."

Never not reblog. Dee Snider is iconic and queer as fuck for a cishet man.

-fae

No one disrespects my man Dee in this house.

Never forget when he sat in front of a congressional hearing about Lewd Music Corrupting the Youth and completely shut that shit down in the most professional manner that no member of that committee expected from a hair metal musician. They thought they'd get easy points off of a dumb metalhead and this man not only knew exactly what the fuck he was talking about, he tore their arguments apart.

This is why my working definition of queer is "queerness is that which accepts queerness."

It encompasses a radical welcome and celebration of things that deviate from "the norm" and a fierce willingness to defend them from people who think mere deviance is worthy of vicious and violent bullying.
