Out of all possible content for SK,I would like to get prequel manga about Hao’s life. Not all of it, of course-no way can you squeeze in thousand years in one manga- but his first one would have been interesting. It doesn’t even need to be about Shaman Fight. I mean, imagine all things you could do with it.

1. It can be whatever genre you want it to be, it doesn’t have to be action. Horror? Have you seen some of youkai, plus when your main character has reishi…Supernatural? Check. Slice of life? Following Hao as he grows? Oh yes. Tragedy? It is unavoidable.

2. It would reach out to wide audience. Without being marketed as strictly Shaman King and shonen, it would attract both old crowd and new readers.

3.It could follow Hao as he grows up from point where he was at end on SK Zero to adult man in Shaman Fight. As such, you could pass through all age range and also show character growing up.

4. It would be great way for us to see more of his character and how it changes, following him as he grows stronger and descends in evil ( imagine emotional shock from seeing kind, Yoh-like man become crazed murderer). See firsthand loneliness and abandonement he went through and how it damaged his psyche.

5. It would be great way to explore personal problems, betrayals and horrors reishi induced, showing us how his belief in humanity’s evil was cemented.

6.It could deal with more adult topics (or at least more in depth), given time period and nature of character.

7.Political situation! It could deal with life among nobles of Heian court, and how it affected him plus how he affected it.

8. Historical context. It could show us how different life was at that time, in all aspects. Seeing society then and what changed and what remained same. Showing historical figures and events, and how they may have possibly played out bit differently with addition of spirits and all. What was culture like and how it dictated life

9. Original Asakura family! How they started, what it was like for them when Hao started going mad and why he lost faith in them. What was his relationship with his children?

10. Romance-see, you can fit in every genre. Please imagine Hao in love, trying to win somebody or throwing off admirers. Funny, sweet and tragic at once. Please God give us bisexual Hao- in Heian homosexual relationships weren’t rare or frowned upon, and we need more bisexual characters.

11. His relationship with Matamune. I believe I don’t need to say anything else.

12. Life as onmyoji. That is whole different side of shaman king universe we never got to see properly. Imagine seeing all that techniques and abilities as much as oversouls. Spells, divination, rituals, duties and benefits….

13. Hao’s accomplishments. How did he become master of elements (something apparently impossible). How did he invent new spells. How he wrote Cho Senji Ryaketsu. How he resurrected somebody for first time. How he trained.

14. Rich lore to call upon. Japanese folklore and religions have so much content that could cleverly be sued for any type of plot, from ‘’simple’’ emotional situations to epic fantasy quests to save world. Seeing everything from oni over Tamamo no Mae to Amaterasu would be amazing.

15. Callbacks to original series. Showing how Futsu no Mitama no Tsurugi was acquired. Training of itakos. Building of Asakura home. Matamune growing to be powerful spirit. Hao as similar to Yoh ( though more hard working and studious but less happy and trusting).

Just an emotional series of good man becoming dangerous, uncaring monster out to destroy human race. What do you think?
