that sequence in the Gone Fishin' Job where Hardison and Eliot get taken hostage is Really Something because like. Eliot's looking around and he's counting. and he's deciding whether he can risk a fight. and then he looks over at Hardison. at the guns aimed at Hardison. and he goes without a fight. cause he can take a bullet, he can take the risk, but Hardison can't. that ain't ever an option.
"Listen, next time I steal you a train, get on it."
My favorite leverage bit is when they have agreed on names for cons that they never explain but reference absolutely bonkers bits of. Like. “Yeah I was running a Blue Spiked Fish but then I lost the wig and had to turn it into a Seventh Taco on the fly.” “Where on earth did you get the firefighter uniform??” “Had one in the closet from running a Cicada job earlier that year.” Beautiful. Perfect. They could do this every episode.
Also love when an earlier mini-con gets a name in a later episode.
Like how the thing they do to divert the MassDOT in The Gone Fishin' Job (the thing Nate, Sophie, and Parker do to steal a train for Eliot and Hardison) gets called "The MassDOT Special" when the team pulls it again in the Cross My Heart Job to ground all the flights.
I love that Leverage really goes out of it’s way to show us that just because you break the ‘rules’, it doesn’t mean you’re breaking the rules. Rules and laws and society are all made up, at the end of the day, and all you really have is your own moral compass and sense of justice; is this just to you? Is it right? Should it be OK for companies to put people in insurmountable debt for the rest of their lives just because our medical care is so expensive in this modern day and age? No law or rule should change what you know in your heart is right and wrong, and I think that’s the key thing that makes someone a good person in my eyes.
#there was a time when parker wouldn’t have noticed, #not because she lacked the capacity to care, #but because she had narrowed herself, #to stay alive she cut off as many unnecessary things as possible, #watching her get them all back, #is one of the glories of this show (via @seananmcguire)
The continuity in Leverage is truly unparalleled. The way the crew learn and grow from one another, the way they pick up even just little things from one another is amazing. In the Gone Fishin Job in season 3, Eliot says something about “high-five for morale” to get Hardison to lift up his hand while they’re handcuffed together so he can cut him with the rock and wipe his blood on a tree. Then in the Office Job during the briefing Hardison uses the same ruse “high-five for morale” to get Eliot to lift his hand so he can steal his soda back. And Eliot falls for it. I just love this show.
