on comicbook site. Danai likes the comic-Michonne’s recent storyline. #ComicSpoilers

The Walking Dead tends to stray from its source material with the television series on occasion but Danai Gurira would love to see Michonne reunited with her child.
On the pages of Robert Kirkman's comics, a recent unexpected twist saw Michonne journeying to the Commonwealth community. Upon arrival, she saw a photo of herself with a "missing" message attached to it, leading her to a reunion with her long lost daughter Elodie. On the TV series, Michonne does not have a daughter, but a presumed dead son as he was killed off-screen prior to her Season Three debut.
"Well, of course, what does it mean to a parent to find out their kid's still alive?" Gurira told ComicBook.com. "That's amazing. I'm sure there's nothing like it on the planet because there's nothing like the loss of a child, nothing more painful. I think they're miles ahead of us in the comic book, but that's a beautiful storyline that she has."
Whether or not the TV show tries to fit the comic book mold of Michonne surprisingly having a child alive, the actress isn't ruling out the possibility of a new kid spawning from Michonne and Rick's romance.
Whether or not Gurira will stick with the AMC series long enough for such a story to be reached is also a factor. The actress has a contract set to expire with Season Nine and chooses to reserve her comment on whether or not she will stick with the show to its end.
"Above all things, I believe as an artist, I must pursue the story," Gurira said. "It's really about story for me and how a story evolves for me. I truly believe in what the story is saying and connecting to that."

It would be interesting if the show went there and have Michonne’s son, Andre come back. I love that Danai knows what’s going on with comic-Michonne!

Even in the comics, that storyline was focusing a lot on Michonne and her daughter in an arc. It felt like TWD was her story and not Rick’s. But then it focused to Rick again. It just interesting about the parent and child storylines going on in the comics. I really like the storyline but I fear Michonne or Elodie will die soon. TWD (comics) is always about Rick and Carl. I think that’s what the story is about and what Kirkman wanted to be about.

So on the show, it can work. Michonne can have that parent-child/ren storyline back again and she is like the leading character in s9. But who knows if Danai will stay in the show longer.

I had already thought about it and I don’t think it will happen. I think Kirkman confirmed Andre is dead. Unless, writers changed it. I also think on the comics is was way more impactful because comic-Michonne was always struggling and in misery because she misses her missing daughters. It was like a long emotional arc for her to finally find her daughter, Elodie. With tv-Michonne, it was like she knows for sure Andre is dead and she was able to go through her grieving and move on ...earlier than comic-Michonne.

Carol and comic-Michonne and the pairings. / Caryl and comic-R&M

Idk what this is. I want to show how similar Carol and comic-Michonne are (and not similar.) I want to see pics in one post.

 They have a similar journey and growth going on, but also different. Loss of a daughter/kids and one is guilty for not being there for her daughters since the start. Last week there’s talk of Caryl might be like comic-Rick and Michonne. That might happen or they’re already like them. They’re both close. I think Rick is one of the few who knew about Michonne’s past and knows about her missing her daughters.  Comic-R&M are BFFs and have a great relationship in the story. I don’t mind if they are like them. I ship both of them. :3 (either way, great ships too!)

I wanted to add Carick in the parallel graphic but Daryl, the wildcard, is more close to Carol though. Comic remixes is crazy. like if i wanna think in the show go exactly like comics-basic way...if comic R&M becomes a couple, so then Carick will get romantic too. Ofc it will not go that way. lol

I also wanted to add the kids in each arc with the guys. (But I didn’t add Tobin..Idk I think of comic-Morgan. It’s also different from the comics and comic-M.) Something about kids..children in their journey, that Carol and comic-M are similar to. But it’s different from comic-MIchonne’s journey. She deals with pain differently.   Idk. Well it’s like Daryl-Sophia, Tyreese-Lizzie and Mika, Morgan-? Benjamin, Sam, Henry, Ezekiel-? Benjamin and Henry.

 I don’t even know if Henry will be a big deal later on. But HENRY ..is he comic-Carl and Elodie? (makes me hope for more Carick moments-with the whole parent and child storyline. Elodie because Michonne found her and it’s like Carol finding Henry and idk maybe she adopts him someday.) Who knows. Just speculating.

So that skybound answer to caryl question lead me to think the Rick and Michonne conversation in comics before whispers , I think Carol and Daryl friendship is like rick and michonne of the comic I do not think there would be any canon mostly angst arc Frankly whatever may be the reason let them talk atleast Love your blog

Thank you for loving my blog and my posts. :3

I really like your question and it’s something I wanna write about too. So yeah long post :B  It’s mostly about Caryl being like comic-R/M speculations/remixes

twd tv/comic speculations

So Jadis’s name is actually Anne and she will stay in ASZ. So..is she Annie from the comics? She’s like a minor character btw.

====

idk why im so stressing out on this time jump plot. I’m so into the comics and I guess it’s hard to go to comics and tv show thinking. There’s a thread on a forum about how long is the time jump will be. I’m like “why? We already know..from s8 premiere. We’re gonna see Old Man Rick and toddler Hershel Jr. ..like from the comics” But no. People speculating and stuff and Rick didn’t totally injured his leg ..so therefore we might not get to see old man Rick ,etc,--- comic stuff. So, idk.

====

Sherry and Dwight are Alpha and Beta? ..or some plot that goes with comic-Michonne finding Elodie.

===

what if Richonne have kids named Elodie and Mikey. heh (actually 6yo Judith is like Mikey in a way. Henry is like Carl and Elodie, imo.) But the main thing i want is Judith calling Michonne, “mom”.

===

sigh crazy. idk s9 is so crazy. I guess I should not speculate..or assume. cos well tv show can go waaaay different and who knows if Kang follow the comics a lot or a little. comic remixing/adaption blues.

It would be so crazy if Sherry and Dwight on the show will be Alpha and Beta. That freakin’ infinite sign on the letter. Crazy but it can be such a really cool remix!

At first, I really don’t think anyone that we know of already can be Alpha. Alpha ..or the Whisperers are like animals and have a weird mindset. Like Jadis but way weirder. They’re quiet and follow within the walkers herd. They’re savages like. No one gets a name. It’s all survival of the fittest. No protections.

But, then the more I think of comic-Sherry and Alpha, I see some parallels and it kinda works..for the show.

Both, comic-Sherry and Alpha kind of have a romantic vibe with Negan but not. They’re both villains.... Sherry kind of became a villain right after the Whisperer war. I don’t remember..she was like leading the Saviors, who were against Rick and Dwight(ex husband).

So in the tv show, it may work for Sherry and Dwight. Dwight might be Beta, he’s kind of Alpha’s love interest and Dwight is already exiled from Daryl/Team Family. And Sherry escaped from Negan/Saviors in s7. Dwight and Sherry may start to invent this whisperer group and belief, because how much they hate people and rough past from Negan’s leadership. Maybe they think following the walkers or be like them will make them live and survive longer. If you can’t fight them, join them.

i don’t know. Or it’s just a random easteregg. I’m fine if it doesn’t happen. Dwight in s8 finale was so like comic Dwight. He misses and wants to be with Sherry so much. I don’t know if that’s the last of Dwight but I like it if it is. Bittersweet angsty ending of him and D/Sherry.

baby names

If Richonne have a child or children, I kept thinking of the names. I’m thinking Rachelle or RJ. But also I kept going to the name Andrew because of Andrea and Andre, but it’s weird because it’s Andy’s(Rick) name. Then I thought maybe a name that goes with Judith. idk. I also thought what if Richonne, the power couple, have a nerdy son named Stanley. heh.

Then I thought of the comics and OMG if they, tv-Richonne, have kids and named them Mikey and Elodie. LOL Mikey is like Rick’s adoptive son? currently in the comics and Elodie is Michonne’s daughter.

But actually IDK the show will have Richonne have kids. Judith is the hope and all. ...idk just lowering my expectations..but really hope they have more kids. :3

Could you please share your opinion and make it more clear to me about time jump thing in the comics? When it could possibly happen on the show? I feel very confused when it comes to this comic event and I really like your analysis of twd here:)

Hey! Sure I’ll try to explain and have my opinion on the time jump and not make it so confusing. :s Thanks for liking my analysis posts. :) I’m also guessing you’re a Caryl shipper and wants to know what Carol and Daryl might do.

#twd spoilers #twd comic spoilers!

You can check out this site that is all about the TWD comic at walkingdead wikipedia on the volume 22, A New Beginning.

So the time jump takes place after the All Out War. Which in s8 finale the war ended. So I’m assuming s9 will be all “A New Beginning” and we see old man Rick. Based on 8x01, Carl’s dream, it was five years later. (In the comics it’s probably around 3 years later) I’m assuming there will be a time jump because of the comics and all. But in s8 finale didn’t hint anything of the time jump or new arcs.It also didn’t have a lot closures or resolutions. I’m bummed about that writing overall in the finale. Finale could have been exciting to look forward to s9. A lil hint is that Maggie wants to rebuild Hilltop and add stuff from what the comicPamela-like lady’s book mentioned. I think this part of the story in the comics is about communities coming together—–maybe this means we get more Team Family moments, being civilized and making the world better, Negan’s redemption, and …fighting over territories from the Whisperers-new villains who are like savages or so.

So, the time jump is a long one and it makes fans/me anxious about what the characters are at in the story….People change and stuff. It’s all unknown. It’s really hard to speculate what Carol and Daryl will do in the future.

What’s interesting is that I was watching an interview of the Michonne Telltale game which is about Michonne during the time jump. And Kirkman at first didn’t think of the time jump in the comics. He wanted to write about everyone rebuilding their communities and being happy from end of war,..but he was stuck with Michonne. Because it’s like she’s only one was unhappy. Then he thought it would be boring and not dramatic to read all that. So there’s the time jump ..and have a Telltale game about Michonne. Also, I think Michonne returned into the story in volume 24. So the comics fans were like ‘where’s Michonnnne in the New Beginning chapter??’ for a year and the game was to like inform us on what Michonne did during the time jump.

So…I think Carol have been following comic-Michonne for a long time..like since s4. A lot of fans kept thinking “following comic-Michonne’s role” = hooking up with Zeke. I disagree. I don’t think of the only that romance part. Carol and both Michonnes are all similar. Mothers and lost kids. Comic Michonne had relationships with Tyreese, Morgan, and Zeke. Same with Carol. Also, imo, some kind of close friendship with Rick too.

Ok so like in the comics Michonne romances with Zeke and hangs out a lot in Kingdom…and ‘the whole doesn’t wanna kill’ thing (kind of like Carol in the cottage). M/E’s romance would have started in “s7″ and she decides to stay in Kingdom after the all out war. But during the time jump, she feels like she doesn’t deserves happiness (with Zeke or anything) because she feels guilty and wants to find her daughters and wants to know if they’re still alive or not since before the outbreak began. It’s kind of like as if Carol goes to the cottage again but Carol isn’t like that so far.  So then Michonne just left Zeke and friends unexpectedly and “pirate” (like Morgan is doing in FTWD)with the Oceansiders(which they’ve already introduced and Tara found them) and then from the game, I think she felt ok. She grieved in a way to let go of not knowing where her daughters are at. She came back (during the New Beginning or so.) and stayed in ASZ to help out Rick and friends. And then learned about ex-bf Zeke’s death, was part of  the whisperers war, Andrea’s death(who is like tv-Michonne but I think Carl got her death) and Eugene radio stuff,….. Michonne and Eugene and others went to Ohio where she surprisingly found her daughter, Elodie, in a community called Commonwealth! I think now Michonne found her happiness. I think her “misery arc” ended by finding her daughter and being a mom again.

Ok so it’s hard to speculate what’s Carol gonna do next but I kept thinking Carol didn’t do the ‘pirate’ thing but I feel like Carol got the comic Michonne’s part of having “Elodie” back but with Henry and so she got this “happiness” back. However I have no clue what is next for Carol. It’s all recent with comic Michonne with Elodie. So it’s like the tv writers are gonna quickly learn from the comics?..or come up a new storyline now with Carol (and Henry). Also Henry is like I guess comic-Carl. So idk Carol be like comic Rick  a lil bit? idk.

With Daryl. He’s a wildcard too. He’s not based on the comics. But he’s similar to comic Dwight. It’s weird because on the show, there’s a Dwight already. So two Dwights in a way. I was speculating that Daryl will lead the Saviors now that Negan is in jail. In the comics, it was Dwight and his love interest Laura. Shaky ship. Dwight is still in love with annoying Sherry, who broke up with him after the AOwar. Anyways, so I don’t think Daryl is leading the Saviors and idk who is …Arat? And tvDwight is exiled and he’s looking for Sherry. Is he no longer in the tv show now? idk. So yeah Daryl’s a wildcard and idk what’s next for him either. I don’t know where he stays at too. Does he stay in ASZ while be upset the whole time Negan sitting in the jail cell for years? Anyways, it makes sense for him to be against Rick’s decision ..and s8 did hint their disagreements/fights. I guess he kind of takes comic Carl part too…because comic-Carl wanted to kill Negan too and even years later (and even with their father-son like relationship). idk most of comic-Rick’s friends disagree with keeping Negan alive but they follow him..and some eventually were ok with it. It’s like they learn too ..with civilization stuff. prisons and trials and stuff. Dont have to kill everyone who u disagree. IMO, it’s like death penalty argument.  In the comics, Maggie ofc doesn’t like the Negan-decison, but she was not so …angry and against Rick that way. She just focused on the Hilltop.

So that’s what I think of the comic adaptions. But the show also remixes and does their own thing. Also we have Gimple as chief and Kang as the new showrunner. So, s9 is just gonna be sooooo different and new. I hope s9 goes well. :]

TWD comic remix theory... with Michonne and Carol after the Time Jump.

Really though these two are so hard to speculate. And I’m like worried and confused.. But also, I don’t think this show will last as long as the comics so my speculating could be pointless.  Confusing post! Just overthinking. vvv

"I think [showrunner Scott Gimple] first brought it up to me as a possibility probably about a year ago at this point," he told Entertainment Weekly. "At first, I was kind of like, 'Well, that's a big one, you know?'

"I might have had a little bit of trepidation. But once he laid out to me exactly what his long-term plans were and the things that come out of it and the things that it leads to, it was something I got on board with.

"I know that some fans online have been very upset, but that's by design. We're not supposed to be happy when these characters die. We are supposed to be worried about what comes next and anticipating what comes next and stressing about what comes next. That just shows that you're engaged and you're interested.

"Our job is to now pay that off and fulfill that interest and prove that this was a decision worth making. That's what we've got to do."

----

hmm wow ok... a year ago?! Or, Last May-2017 when comic-Andrea died? It’s what I’m suspecting. I’ll be really surprised if Gimple thought of Carl’s death before comic-Andrea died. (I guess then Gimple really wants the show to be ‘Rick’s show’).

It’s interesting that Kirkman is okay with it. I wonder what Gimple and other writers talked about that Kirkman was ok with it. Did they all agree? Does Kirkman have a say? I mean I know Kirkman is cool with remixes from the show based on his comic book. But killing Carl is like the big take away from his comic book story. Idk. Also, I’m wondering did Kirkman/AMC fire Mazzara for diverging from the comics so much in s3 or not? idk. If so, then why Kirkman not upset with Gimple? idk.

So this is what I’m suspecting on what Gimple, Kirkman, and other writers talked about the future storylines. IMO the reason they kill Carl and future stories is that Gimple wanted Michonne to live (not take comic-Andrea’s death but Carl did) and have Negan’s redemption make more sense...or more about Carl’s influence. Instead of Rick not killing Negan because of his leadership and saving civilization (but what about his revenge on the death of Glenn & Abe?), nor Father Gabe convincing Rick to not kill Negan, it’s all so Carl, who is a better man than Rick at times, will convince Rick and also make Negan change. In the comics Negan and Carl’s relationship is important too. After the timejump,during the Whisperer war, Negan’s redemption happens there. So, I think Gimple wanted to connect all that. I also think the timejump stuff are happening sooner-remixed. Like already introducing Siddiq before the timejump.

 It’s also to keep making TWD being as “Rick’s show”. I do think the show will still be faithful to the comics but not like what it was before anymore. It’s more unpredictable for the comic/tv fans and writers. Or even more different and probably too unlike from the comics..like s3. (but do I care or any fans care of how much to adapt from the comics? Either way the show is always different from comics.)

  But, killing off Carl is such a huge risk and like totally changing the show’s premise. So, the writers really have a big challenge of making sure their decision was worth it to the fans that are still watching it. I know like a lot of fans it’s already ruined their interest/trust to the writers. (I know what that’s like with OUAT and SW:TLJ. I’m not with TWD rn. Bascially it’s just anyone’s opinion. u do what u wanna do.)

Idk what to think of it yet. Just watching it how it goes in s8B and s9 with Kang as showrunner too. (same way i always do cos we don’t know how all stories goes.)

Avatar

So since I keep thinking of Carl’s death is like comic-Andrea’s, I wonder in s8B we will have Richonne be like comic-Richonne. “Keep living.” (It’s been a long time since we have Richonne be like comic-Richonne.)

I didn’t want to add the Eugene part but it’s also another parallel or adaption TWD writers did that I wonder about too. Eugene, in s8, might feel guilty about Carl’s death.
