They’ve hinted at Nick and Jess romantically very early on. It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone IMO.
Yeah, I totally agree. I don’t really understand why people would assume they were supposed to be just friends.
Yeah. I mean don’t get me wrong: if someone dislikes the romance part, that’s completely okay. Different tastes and all that. I know that some watch these shows just for the friendships.
Personally I like to invest in the romances of the characters as well. And you’re just more invested if there’s a romance between two main characters instead of a main character and a random guest star who’s there for maybe 5-7 episodes a season. Therefore, a relationship between Nick and Jess is 10 times more powerful to me than a relationship between Nick and say, Caroline. Or Jess and Sam. And just because they’re together doesn’t mean they’re not still friends. The reason they got together in the first place was because they’re great friends. That doesn’t change.
I’ve always loved this quote: “Love is friendship set on fire.” That’s Nick and Jess.
But again, different tastes.
I agree! Maybe it's the fear of what the writers would do or ruin the show or don't care about romances. I think the writers will still make the show mainly about friends. :) Also I love that after Nick and Jess had sex, they were still the same characters. They didn't act any different or too out of character.
