Carol, the reader (season 1 - season 7)
day 3: favourite female friendship(s) - lori and carol & andrea and michonne
“no one can make it alone now.”

*kind of like what Daryl did after the barn - sat silently with Carol in the RV so she wasn’t alone*
- Life is tough… - …But so are You, Carol.
So lately, I’ve been thinking a lot of the TWD Team Family/ladies and Rick & Michonne being canon.
It all started from this post. :) The post brought up an idea of Carol hanging out with Carl talking about Sophia. The picture on the post was actually them talking about Lori. Then the post talks about Daryl with Judith. It’s all Rick & Lori’s kids hanging out with the Team Family kind of thing.
Anyway, I was thinking about who in the Team Family knows Lori and the Grimes family. It really made me focus on the group of characters in the show.
Team Family
the Alanta 5: Rick, Carl,..... Daryl, Carol, Glenn.
Farm team: Maggie
Prison team: Sasha, Michonne, baby Judith
after-Prison: Tara, Rosita, Abe, Eugene
Alexandria: Aaron, Enid, Denise.
...and some others, minor characters.
I want to point out ones who are friends with Lori and are still living.
Carol, Maggie, Daryl, Glenn. (or Caryl and Gleggie)
Since Richonne went canon, I hope for Carol, Maggie, Daryl, and Glenn’s thoughts of Richonne/family. I know it’s all supportive and positive. I really want to see their reactions and thoughts about Richonne, because they know Lori and the Grimes before. Lori had been a big part of the show too and if we get a moment of them talking about Richonne and Lori, it’s like a full circle kind of thing for the show. This show have a long history. But, most TV shows.. don’t really show other character’s reactions or what they’re thinking of couple being canon...or not enough moments for me. sigh.
I especially want to see Carol and Michonne to interact too. Or, Carol and Maggie to interact with Michonne. Carol and Maggie are the only ladies who knows Lori. Also, hey, Team Moms.
Back to Carol and Michonne. Lori’s closest friend was Carol. Also, Carol is like the mama-bear of the Team Family. She looks after Carl and Judith a lot. Up to season 4, Michonne started to be more of the mothery role to Carl and Judith...,and with the story, Carol was apart from the group. Actually I think Team Family had more interactions together in s5-s6 (which is why I probably really into the show now. Because the Team Family are together in one place now.) I think it would be really interesting to see Carol with Michonne to interact (more) and be best friends, pleaaase. I want to see Carol telling Rick that she’s happy for him and is glad that Michonne is like the new wife to Rick and new mom to Carl and Judith. (Plus, Carol and Michonne have a lot things in common.)
idk why I keep bringing up the s6b EW magazine covers.... Each TWD cover of the EW magazine was Rick, Michonne, Carol, Daryl, Glenn, and Maggie. With that you pair it up, you get Richonne, Caryl, Gleggie. BTW, Caryl and Gleggie are ones who knew Lori, were on the show longer than most characters. Do you get it? The 3 pairings are the longest living pairings on the show.

Carol appreciation week Day 3: favorite relationships part 2
I couldn’t do just one post for this day. As much as Carol and Daryl’s relationship means to me, there are a few others that need to be highlighted.
Carol’s relationships with the women in the group tend to be over looked. Love them or hate them, each of these women have befriended, stood up for and encouraged our lovely lady.
Here are some of my favorites:
Lori: Lori was probably one of the first female friends Carol had had in a long time. Starting in season one we got many lovely scenes of Carol and Lori with their children together. In season two, when the walkers showed up, it was Lori that grabbed Carol and pulled her under the car. It was also Lori that held her and stood by her side when Sophia went missing. When Sophia was found as a walker, Lori was the person that made sure Sophia got a burial and she was also the one that went to the RV where Carol and Daryl were sitting. By season three we got to see how strong the bond between these two women had grown. Carol was unable to save Lori, so she does the next best thing, she is there to support Lori’s children.
Andrea: Andrea was another friendship that meant a lot to Carol. Much like Lori, despite all the personal things going on in her life, Andrea was there to support Carol from the beginning. Andrea was the first to really stand up to Ed ( with some help from the always under appreciated Jacqui) to protect Carol. Andrea was a rock for Carol during the loss of Sophia. Any question about how Carol felt about Lori can be answered in season three when Andrea comes to the prison. while everyone else was giving Andrea the side eye, Carol rushed to embrace her friend. Who else but Andrea would Carol have felt comfortable to suggest vagina warfare to end the war with Woodbury? while I had some serious issues with how Andrea’s character was written, I have nothing but love for her friendship with Carol.
due to the controversy of another character I could mention, I am choosing to leave her out at this time. there was one other Character that Carol was shown to be quiet close to and very protective of, this character also showed she was very much attached to Carol and loved her very much. I feel sad that the current state of the fandom makes it impossible for me to include her in this list. She was never a favorite of mine, but the relationship was a very strong one and very sweet to see in season 3.
this concludes my list of favorite female relationships for Carol.
Once again gifs are not mine, I got them from google search. if you see one that is yours please let me know so I can tag it correctly.
Day 3 Favorite relationship: Lori Grimes
Summary: Carol and Lori wait for news after Daryl comes back from the events of “Chupacabra.”
What struck me most about this image is how Lori is reaching out to Carol here. There are so few, few instances in this show where women aren’t somehow being antagonistic toward one another and/or asserting dominance over one another. Or failing the Bechdel test in other respects.
It pains me that a premise I love as much as The Walking Dead utterly fails in terms of giving me a female presence I can admire. Note…I didn’t say respect. I don’t have to respect a character’s actions or motivations to find them admirable.
At present I admire Carol most out of all the female characters - a fact that sometimes pains me because I also find some of her character’s history to be…less than admirable. I’m more than a little afraid of what the new season will bring with the addition of Michonne and even more deviation of Andrea’s character from her comicbook counterpart. Not to mention how the Governor story arc may employ less than savory (and comicbook canonical, unfortunately) methods for female “character development.”
I keep circling back to Michelle Rodriguez’ comment of “Get raped and win an Oscar? No thanks.”
*sigh*
I wished they showed more of the ladies friendships. It's very subtle. I thought, at first, Andrea and Carol would be bff in s2. I liked that they showed some moments with Lori being friendly with Carol in s3 because they're mothers and friends. :)
