A great way to meet unemployed people is to join a popular discord server and find them streaming like. The emoji movie at 3pm on a Monday. And I know shift work exists, I know. but then you’ll see that they’re streaming Mr. Popper’s Penguins at 7:30pm on a Thursday. Mr. Peabody and Sherman Take Manhattan at 9:00am on a Saturday. In fact, at all hours everyday there’s someone, usually a rotating cast of three prominent people with names like ‘✨StarLightXpressMistress✨’ or ‘Remmy’ or a slur streaming the kinds of movies Chinese buffets play on repeat bc it’s all they could find on dvd at the thrift store. And I think that’s beautiful. I mean it. They’re keeping watch, they’re working a shift to keep the unwashed masses under their loving gaze and tender care. It’s the eternal flame, it’s like how chassidic mysticism operates. Someone’s gotta fucking do it. You might have a job now but two years ago maybe that was you, and you passed the torch, and maybe two years from now the burden will be placed back upon your weary shoulders.
