there are many witches who believe heavily in science and cosmology, (like me) and believe in a larger entity that controls(?) or exists among all things. 

what we refer to it ( a lot of east african witches ) believe in this energy and pray to it using earth and crystals to communicate with it. With the moon and the planets to calculate the exact moment a specific spell will work, a lot of east african witches go off on feeling and connection. 

I wouldn’t say I believe in a biblical god, or any ‘god’ more like this huge matter that is beyond my intelligence. And because I am a measly human I refer to it as ‘her’ and ‘mother’ because of how I feel the strongest connection to it is a feminine energy. 

I spoke to a lot of my aunts (who are descendants of witches) and they all believe heavily in herbs, spices and prayer. And they pray to ‘her’ for strength, stability and wisdom. 

But I am also a pretty modern witch/empath so I use a combination of praying to Ngai (Kikuyu translation for ‘God’) and embracing the connections in this world and the universe. *side note: a lot of Kikuyu’s refer to Ngai as male, but I and a minority of Kikuyu’s refer to them as ‘her’ & when I pray because my first language is English so I pray to Mother God*

I also heavily believe in reincarnation, that we are born beings from a past being with inbreed feelings and wisdom from our previous lives. The reason being the thoughts and empathy I feel can be felt from others. When I look and interact with people I cannot simply feel one ‘soul’ from them, it’s multiple and this is the very reason humans are so multi-faceted; because we are not just one being. 

Also why I believe in reincarnation is because energy never disappears; it transfers. And many ask to where? and when? I think our energy or ‘souls’ transfer to another vessel (living beings) and all of the information codded in our energies is transferred to the next living being. So the belief when we die we never really die, we transfer & it may not be a human who is self aware, it could transfer to a tree, a plant, an animal, etc. Anything that lives. 

Conscious beings are pretty powerful because we aware of ourselves; we breathe, we eat, we see, we feel. However it is pretty crippling because we do not know all the answers. No one can prove if something bigger than all of us exist. We rely on faith and hope. We rely on our feelings, emotions and experiences to help us navigate through life. And the scariest thing is it’s fleeting and when we leave we cannot come back to tell each other what happens next. I believe in science but I also believe we are connected to something larger than anything our brains could possibly comprehend. 

Basically it seems I am all over the place but I know I’m in a very unique space for a witch because I do not have a base religion and I am figuring it all out. I hope their are more witches like me I can connect with!

For the continuation of my ritual started on Friday, today I decided to charge 4 sigils (that I designed on Friday and drew today). One was placed in my wallet, a bottle I use to collect money and two pairs of shoes (that I actually wear often). I chose to use the scent “Ocean Wind” for this ritual😌

Best Summer Ever! Jar Spell

A spell jar for endless nights, sunny days and a summer full of joy and fun. A wordless vow to make this the best summer ever.

You will need:

To be performed in the later half of May on a sunny day. Add and remove any item you would like, but try to at least keep your favourite flower and the daisies. 

Write all of you hopes, feelings and wishes for the coming summer on a piece of paper. Plans for meeting friends, plans for feeling happy, etc. Put it in the jar. Put the rest of the objects in the jar. Hold the jar in both hands and visualise your happiest summer memories and will your energy into the jar.

Leave the jar in sunlight for 3 days to charge. After that, leave everything inside until the plants look dead, then clean it out. You can keep the crystals and carry them with you on summer days out for further good vibes.
