Things have been crazy lately so I just wanted to take a moment and remind you to love yourself because you are important!  No matter who you are or where you come from! Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise!

I decided to make a step by step “How-to Jenny’s Witchy Brew” for Self Love ~ Rose Soy Milk Tea <3

Things you will need: -Rose Tea: I get mine at 99 Ranch Market but it’s essentially just dried rose hips so if you have rose hips that you can dry out, that will work too! You will want to use 6-8 rose buds, the more you add the stronger the flavor!

-Organic Soy Milk: This can be regular milk or almond milk, I prefer unsweetened organic soy milk. If you decide to use soy make sure it’s organic! Brands such as ‘Silk’ isn’t good, even if they claim it’s organic, for some reason it burns and wont cook right. It’s gotta be the real deal! For this recipe you only need 1 cup. -Honey: Any kind of organic honey will do, if you have herbal honey that’s even better for adding more florals to your tea! I usually add about 2-3 teaspoons, but feel free to add to taste! -Cinnamon & Nutmeg: This is optional! I like to add just a pinch of both spices to add a little kick to my tea. If you don’t care for spice try ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract instead!

-Sugar: This is also optional, I like my tea to be a little on the sweet side & since we are using organic unsweetened soy milk it helps to really sweeten it up! I only use barely a ½ teaspoon,  but just add to taste!

-Small Pot

-Mesh Strainer: For removing the flowers once it’s cooked.

-Your Favorite Mug! Mine is a black mug with my astrological sign gold leafed into it!

Before starting, take a moment to close your eyes, clear your mind, breathe deeply through your nose and slowly release through your mouth (do this a few times). Visualize letting go of any negativity or weight you may be carrying on your shoulders…now…

<3 LET’S GET BREWING! <3

1- Pour soy milk into pot, turn heat on low

2- Add rose tea, gently crumble a couple of the buds

3- Add cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar

4- Add desired amount of honey; while you slowly drizzle it in feel free to draw symbols with it such as hearts or infinity symbols- whatever you feel is right for helping to instill your manifestations of self love into your tea!

5- Stir your brew clockwise! While slowly stirring visualize the self love that this tea will bring you & say some positive affirmations about yourself such as:

“I love the person I am, I am strong & caring, I am creative, I am beautiful inside and out…” say whatever best suits your needs for self love and take a moment to appreciate the wonderful person you are! <3

6- Let your tea brew for approximately 10 minutes on low stirring occasionally to prevent scorching. DON’T LET IT BOIL! You want to create an infusion of the flowers which means a longer slower heating process. Boiling will mean scorching the flowers and milk!

7- You’ll notice the rose buds will begin to loose their color, remove your brew from the heat to let it cool and allow the tea to steep for about 3 minutes.

8- Remove roses with mesh strainer and compost.

Enjoy! As you drink, visualize your tea as a pink white healing light of love and remember your affirmations taking deep breaths in-between each sip! <3

I hope you all enjoyed this & that your tea was delicious & full of positive energy! Feel free to try making this with other flowers which have different properties such as: lavender & chamomile for happiness and relaxation! Much Love <3

Teas for Witches: the Basics

I can talk about tea literally all day (and I have because I’ve worked in a spice and tea shop for years), and there is SO much to talk about with both health and magical benefits. Teas are made from tea leaves called camellia sinensis, with the exception of herbal teas/infusions. For this, I’m going to list magical and health benefits by type of tea.

Black Tea

Feminine * Earth * Winter * Strength * Stability * Death * Expelling Negativity * Alertness * Energy

Black tea is the most fermented and oxidized of all teas. Its tea leaves look shriveled and black. It combats heart ailments, digestive problems, high cholesterol, asthma, and breast/menstrual problems. Black tea also has a lot of caffeine (47 mg, still less than coffee) and too much of it can cause acidity issues in the stomach.

Examples: English/Irish Breakfast Tea, Assam, Darjeeling, Lapsung Souchang, Ceylon, Earl Grey

**There is a subset of black tea called Pu-erh, a post-fermented black tea. Some consider this to be the “purest” of all teas and connect it to the aether, as it is rare and valuable.

Green Tea

Masculine * Fire * Summer * Passion * Healing * Conscious Mind * Sexual Health * Love * Energy * Progress * Magic

Green tea is slightly steamed but not fermented, which maintains its green color. It has many health benefits, such as detoxifying, reducing cholesterol and weight, boosting immunity and stamina, and reducing blood glucose. It has less caffeine than black, but still some.

Examples: Jasmine, Sencha, Matcha, Gyokurocha, Genmaicha, Hojicha, Gunpowder, Dragonwell

Oolong Tea

Feminine * Water * Autumn * Reflection * Meditation * Wisdom * Serenity * Concentration * Romance * Friendship

I always describe Oolong as being between Green and Blacks, since it is half fermented. It can help manage weight and stress, balance blog sugar levels, remove free radicals, and promote healthy skin and bones. HOWEVER, too much can actually speed up bone degradation because it sweeps away excess calcium. And beware of its high caffeine content (I used to drink Raspberry Wulong to pull all-nighters).

Examples: Milk Oolong, Formosa, Wulongs

White Tea

Masculine * Air * Spring * Happiness * Wisdom * Moon * Purification * Protection * Clarity * Cleansing * Beginnings

White tea is a little harder to find. Either the tea leaves are plucked as immature leaves and steamed, or the leaves have not been processed (there seems to be little consensus across cultures). Some have a small amount of caffeine. It’s a great antibacterial and antioxidant, and it improves the heart, oral health, and skin. Drinking a couple cups works better than one, and you can reuse the tea leaves, granted that the second cup will brew longer.

Examples: White teas come in many flavors and are usually labeled as white tea. You may need to seek out a tea shop to find some.

Herbal Tea

Magical properties depend on which herbs are used

This tea seems to be the most popular for witches on tumblr, because it is composed of dry, unprocessed herbs, seeds, fruits, or roots, and has no caffeine (as long as the herb doesn’t!). There are many recipes online as herbals are easy to make. In general, herbal tea promotes calm, reduces cholesterol and risk of heart conditions, cancers, and diabetes. Due to its lack of actual tea leaves it has less antioxidants than other teas. Some don’t even call it a tea, but dub it Herbal Infusion.

Examples: Rooibos, most Chais, Ginseng, Chamomile, Peppermint, Spearmint, Hibiscus

**Yerba Mate is an herbal tea that is notorious for its high caffeine levels (you’ve probably seen the energy drink). It also zaps one’s appetite and can become addictive, so be careful around this tea!

As always, feel free to add/message me of any corrections, and I hope you find your cup of tea!

These pages serve a double purpose: they’re an entry in my commonplace book, as well as an informational slip I can print out to be sold along with my divination tea cups. That is, if I ever get my act together on those tea cups. Le heave, le sigh.

My hand-lettering/calligraphy is perceptibly improving, which means I might not need to perfect my handwriting fonts for the Omnomnomicon and Unholy Imbible (my cookbook projects– when completed i.e. never they shall form a rather punk rawk DIY skills trilogy with the commonplace book. Lul.) which is *great* because I’m really, really tired of trying to make my own fonts that look like the calligraphy tags at Fort Worden and failing. This sort of script would look way cool, even if it’s not quite illuminated manuscript material…hmmm.

Dream Magick

Prophetic Dream Tea

1 teaspoon chamomile, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon mugwort, 1 teaspoon peppermint, 2 teaspoons rose petals

Mix the ingredients well. Use 1 teaspoon for every cup of boiling water. As the tea steeps, chant:

“Tea of vision, dreaming tea, as I sip you, bring to me an altered state conductive to psychic dreams. And when I’m through, rock me gently into sleep and bring the answers that I need.”

Sweeten with honey, if desired. Drink 30 minutes before going to bed.

Dream Pouch

Anise seed, mugwort, chamomile, rosemary, cloves, rose petals, mint, a small pouch

Mix together until you have a sent to your liking. Fill the pouch with the mixture, and charge it by chanting:

“Psychic dream mix, come alive! Mingles energies now thrive. Show me what I need to see. As I sleep, so mote it be!”

Place the pouch inside your pillow case. Replace the mixture in the pouch when the sent dissipates.

To Dream of Past Lives

Wearing an opal to bed or sleeping with one under your pillow works well for inducing dreams prior to incarnations.

To Recall Dreams

To remember your dreams, place a red jasper on your headboard or nightstand before falling asleep.

To Dream of True Love

Tuck 5 bay leaves in your pillow case on Valentine’s Day to bring dreams of your true love.

Anonymous asked:

Do you know what i could do with really old loose leaf tea? I have some green tea(&other kinds) that's like 8 years old and i don't just want to throw it out...😂

YES OMG! Old tea leaves are perfect for cleansing/cleaning your space and the possibilities for witchcraft are limitless:

Potpourri: You can easily make your very own potpourri with old tea leaves. You can make either a satchet or keep it loose and store it in a glass bowl. Since they’re so old, the scent of tea should be pretty much gone, which means you have the perfect base to blend your own oils and add to it. You can blend whatever oils you want, drip a few drops (5-10 for a light scent, 11-20 for a strong one) on about a handful of leaves, add a fixative to slow the process of evaporation (orris root, cinnamon sticks, dry lavender, nutmeg, vanilla pods, patchouli, and sandalwood bark are my personal faves), et voila! You have potpourri! Make sure to put it in a place with low humidity to prevent molding. You can also make tiny satchets, fill them with your potpourri, and throw them in drawers, nooks, and crannies to create a well-scented environment.

Cleaning: Tea is a fantastic astringent, so it cuts through grease pretty easily, making it a great addition to floor washes and furniture scrubs. Caution: tea is also fantastic at staining things lol. Light teas are good for light woods/porcelain and dark teas are best on dark wood. You can also add dry old tea to carpet powders, cat litter, and in your fridge as deodorizers.

Gardening: If you compost, used wet tea leaves are good for the brown layer!

Beauty: Green tea can be used as a toner, but make sure you only make a little bit at a time because the shelf life isn’t that great. Boil some filtered water, let the green tea leaves steep for 3-5 min, (optional) add a tsp of witch hazel and a few drops of vitamin E oil. Let cool, then take a cotton ball, dip it in the solution, and rub on your face and neck twice a day. Make sure to apply to clean skin only.

These are just a few I can think of off the top of my head and I hope they help!

Tasseomancy: The Reading of Tea Leaves

a divination or fortune-telling method that interprets patterns in tea leaves, coffee grounds, or wine sediments.

The terms derive from the French word tasse (cup), which in turn derives from the cognate Arabic word tassa, and the Greek suffixes -graph (writing), -logy (study of), and -mancy (divination).

Divination attempts to gain insight into the natural world through intuitive interpretation of synchronistic events.

Tea- The discreet witches’ best friend

If you’re like me, I don’t need to explain how awesome tea is. It’s calming, relaxing, energizing, and super easy to make. And these properties make it the best tool for someone who needs a discreet way to practice.

1. Tea uses all four elements. Tea from the earth, water (duh), energy to heat the water for fire, and steam for air. Adding some of your own energy for spirit makes tea an excellent offering to the spirits, or a mini circle you can cast in a mug.

2. You can be super flexible in how you make your tea. Add specific herbs for different properties (make 110% sure they’re edible first), use sun, moon, or other types of water (purified and safe to drink, of course), and drink your tea at different times of day. The flexibility and creativity can provide you with a thousand different options, depending on your intent. For example, I blessed my morning tea to provide me with enough energy to get through the busy day.

3. Customize your mugs. You can draw sigils or other meaningful symbols on your mug, or buy ones with the color that matches your intent.

The best part? No one will every be suspicious of anything. Most will just think you really like tea, and might even get you some special blends or new mugs for your birthday. It’s easy, inexpensive, and good for your health as well as your spirit.

What’s your favorite kind of tea? Add some of your own tea spells and ideas if you like.
