Flying Devil Oil

… or as I prefer to call it, chiltepin oil. ‘Flying Devil Oil’ is likely a hoodoo term, co-opted by Wiccans and used in numerous commercial spell books. This is my recipe for an oil perfect for banishing, hex-breaking, and protection!

NOTE: Do not touch this oil with your bare hands or get it into your eyes. You can cook with it, but use sparingly– it’s spicy!

You will need:

one handful chiltepin peppers (C. annuum var. glabriusculum, a.k.a. chili pequin or bird’s eye peppers)
33 black peppercorns, whole
olive oil
(optional: finely chopped ginger and/or garlic– especially if you plan to cook with it!)

Halve each of the tiny chiltepins, reserving the seeds in the peppers. Place the halved peppers and peppercorns (and other spices, if you’re using them) in a sturdy, heat-proof bowl.

Heat the olive oil to about 325 degrees Fahrenheit. When hot, pour the oil carefully over the peppers and spices in the bowl and stir with a wooden implement for about a minute. When room temperature, the mixture may be poured into a dark glass jar and kept refrigerated (up to a few months).

Methods for negating spells you have cast:

Destroy the physical representation of the spell i.e. if your spell was contained within a jar, break the jar and dispose of the pieces
Disassemble the spell and cleanse each component individually
Place item in a bath of sea salt and dried herbs that are associated with cleansing and banishing - leave overnight and disassemble the spell when finished
Cleanse the item with moon or rain water and disassemble if applicable
Place the item in a black box to negate its effects
Bury the item for 3 days, retrieve it, then dispose of it
Bury the item on the night of the full moon and retrieve it at the next new moon
Create a sigil or written incantation with the intent of breaking the spell and place the item on top of the paper - leave in place overnight
Create a written incantation that includes the details of the spell - bury, burn, drown, rip apart, or throw it away
Light a black candle that is surrounded by sea salt while focusing on the intent of negating the spell - recite an incantation if you wish, and allow the candle to burn down; sweep the sea salt out your back door

Breaking and warding spells others have cast upon you:

Perform a “Return to Sender” spell - find a black taper candle; turn it upside down; cut the tip off and leave the wick in place; carve “return to sender” and the target’s name (or a description of them) into the candle; light the candle upside down and let it burn down completely
Leave a Witch Bottle outside of your home - it should contain items like: pins, needles, broken glass (to shred their negative intentions towards you); your name and the names of those who may be affected by this negative energy plus an incantation for protection (e.g. your loved ones, pets, anyone who lives in your home); and lemon juice, lime juice, or sea salt (to purify their negative energy so that it may not get to you)
Create a mixture of charcoal, chili powder, and sulfur powder - sprinkle around the perimeter of your home to stop a spell in its tracks
Alternately, you may combine these ingredients, add to a hollow pendant, and wear on your person to protect you from the effects of a spell
If you know the details of the spell that has been placed on you, write them down on paper; while focusing on breaking the spell, hold the paper in your hand, and then rip it to shreds; throw the pieces in the trash, or bury in your backyard
If you don’t know the exact details, write down the effects you have been feeling if you think they have been caused by a spell or malintent directed at you; follow the steps above
Submerge yourself in a bath of sea salt and light frankincense incense - place the incense on the edge of the tub or somewhere safe in your bathroom - to cleanse yourself of any negative energy that has been directed at you
Place an energetic shield over yourself or your home that is designed to negate negative energy

Tips:

Close all loopholes
When crafting a spell, remember to create a fail safe (e.g. “this spell will be broken if X occurs”)
Add timed conditions to your spells (e.g. “this spell will be broken on the night of the next full moon” and include a specific date)
Be specific when describing the target that will be affected by the spell (whether it’s you or someone else, be sure to include taglocks whether it be their name written or spoken aloud, DNA such as hair, fingernail clippings, etc., or a photo of the target)
Use ingredients, supplies, and tools that match your intent
Employ a method of protection before casting spells, whether the intent is malefic or not
Cleanse your space and tools before and after performing a spell to “wipe the slate clean”

This is a topic I’ll be going over shortly, actually. First question you’ll have to ask yourself is how powerful they are and how powerful you are. It’ll be the determining factor in what route to take. Be honest.If they’re weak and you think you could shatter their spell, write down what they did on a piece of thin wood, snap it in two, and burn the parts. If they’re stronger than you, you’ll want to trap their spell in some way. If you’ve got any gods or spirits on your side, this would be the ideal time to call on them and ask for assistance. Create a witch bottle and fill it with your own taglocks so that the spell is tricked into being ensnared. Once you’ve caught the spell, and if it’s strong enough you’ll know, bury the bottle far away from you. Don’t break it. Another one of my favorites is to spell a small mirror fragment to rebound hexes directed at you and keep it hidden on your person. A more in depth post on the ins and outs of witch fighting will be posted eventually, so stay tuned and I hope this helps you!

To Undo a spell.

Take some beeswax (or other wax) and some spell breaking herbs and blessed salt or black salt (use the black salt to turn the spell negatively back onto the caster). Also get a personal article of the target of the original spell, be it a strand of hair, or a piece of clothing etc.

Heat the beeswax within a blessed candle flame, or your Lamp of the Art preferably, while speaking of focusing on the original spell you are trying to undo and dissolve and neutralize.

Search with your cunning mind into the depths of the spiritual and mundane worlds, calling and drawing the power of the spell into the wax.

Then press the herbs and personal artifact into the wax, and mold it into a ball, and coat it in the salt.

As you press and mold the ball with the herbs and salt, read the spell procedure for the spell you are dissolving backwards from end to beginning three times if you have the procedure, and then proceed to say the following words as you tread sinisteral around the compass continuously rolling and molding the ball.

“eodnu, eodnu, eodnu,

evlossid, evlossid, evlosside,

ezilartuen, ezilartuen, ezilartuen,

For the spell that I will and speak of,

(Talk about the spell you are trying to undo)

What was done is now undone,

What was cast, is now uncast,

What was enforced, is now unforced,

Air now disperse, and Fire combust,

Water join Spirit,

And Earth turns to dust,

I place the work tied to this chained sphere,

Into the earth, into the fire, into the water, into the Breath of the Land,

Let it be undone, Let it be gone,

It is now undone, it is now dissolved, it is now gone,

What ties it holds, is now unwoven,

What powers it binds is now released to nothingness.

Optionally, add at the end if you would like the blessings of the spell to remain

“Though your powers disperse, your blessing remain, good tidings upon you, in my cunning’s name”.

Speak the above words as often as you feel need, at least three times, tying the power of the spell you are undoing into the ball and with your will, undoing and neutralizing it.

Now take the ball, and bury it at some discrete place or at a crossroads with night shrouding your footsteps with a few coins or some other suitable offering. This place must be far from your dwelling place and places you usually frequent, bury it to the west. All the while speaking of and focusing on your intent.

Turn away without looking back, and take a different route home than the one you used to get there.

Cleanse, Protect, and bless your self and space with goodness afterwards.

*Note, there are certain witches out there who seal their spell with ritual actions and bind their words with sealing words, making it difficult to undo their work by another. If this is the case, other procedures may need to be taken, such as petitioning a higher power to help turn back the witch’s hand of power, or pushing with your will to reverse and break through the spell … Or you may just be fucked and just work on cleansing it off of you to the best of your ability and warding your space and doing blessings*.
