The Shadow Situations Spread is something I created for myself a little while ago. I couldn’t shake the feeling I was missing something important from my personal divinations and introspection. I created this spread to show not only what I messages I was missing, but what I was willfully ignoring, the stuff I didn’t want to face. This isn’t really a light or easy spread, but as I have used it for myself its been wonderfully enlightening. It also gives good advice.

Anyway:

The special thing about this deck is that you draw cards from the bottom of your deck, rather than the top. Just shuffle your deck like normal, while thinking of the situation or question. When it ‘feels right’ stop and start pulling cards from the bottom of your face-down deck until you have all the cards laid out as pictured.

1)Your Perception of The Situation: aka What you think is going on.

2)What You’re Missing: Pretty self explanatory

3)What You’re Willfully Ignoring: You know this is going on, somewhere, but you just aren’t facing it like you need to.

4)What Your Intuition Is Trying To Tell You: The Answer to ‘oh deer lord I feel like I’m missing something. constantly’

5)What You’re Actually Asking: I have a hard time phrasing my tarot questions to answer the question I really need. Then I did this reading for myself I actually got The Answer and not The Question thankfully.

6)The Reality of The Situation: Not influenced by your biases, this is what is really going on.

7)What Could Make This Situation Worse: aka What not to do.

8)What Could Make The Situation Better: aka What to do.

So yeah! Look at my new spread, the first I’ve ever made from scratch, I hope you like it! Any feedback is welcome and please tag me if you ever post a reading of it, I’d love to see!

If you would like me to do a reading for you check out my shop: Iced Shadows Tarot! I just added a lot of spread options over the last several days.

The Wellness Wheel Tarot Spread

**Based on a concept discussed in one of my counseling courses, where each slice of the wheel represents a section of your life and how well you feel like you’re doing in that area**

The idea behind this spread is to pull one card for each area of wellness to give you an idea of how you can improve that area of wellness. Under each section of wellness I’ve included just a few topics that might relate to that section. You can ask about a specific topic or just the overall area of wellness for each card.

1. Spiritual Wellness

  • -Connection to a community
  • -Sense of self or sense of purpose
  • -Meaning in life

  • -Paid vs. Unpaid work
  • -Productivity and work ethic

3. Physical Wellness

  • -Medication/ vitamins

4. Emotional Wellness

  • -Emotional stability/ regulation
  • -Use of positive coping strategies

5. Social Wellness

  • -Healthy and positive interactions
  • -Communication
  • -Sense of community
  • -Hobbies
  • -Social connections to family, friends, pets etc.

6. Intellectual Wellness

Interview your deck spread

If you recently got a new deck and you’re keen to use it, clear yourself some space, light a candle if you wish, and try out this neat interview spread! This spread will help to introduce yourself to a new tarot deck and allow it to introduce itself to you. Basically, it’s a conversation about your potential working relationship, where you can examine the deck’s strengths and limits and discover the best way to approach and use these cards. Certain decks, for instance, work best for love readings and others are more suited to spiritual path. Either way, this interview spread is a convenient way to explore those ideas in more detail.

A Love Letter from My Future Self

I made my own tarot spread! After talking to someone about what I would say to myself 20 years ago when I was a 16 year old. That had me thinking, I wonder what myself in 20 years would tell me now. My friend said, “You should do a tarot spread about that.” So this is it!

So I’m now going to read my love letter and see what it says. If you try this out and post it please let me know!

A tarot spread for mediums and the god-bothered. Can be adapted with more cards added in certain areas, or for a Quest-type question, though Quests have their own two spreads that ModEmil is doing.

1. Who is calling? Some traits of the spirit hanging about.

2. Are they living or dead? Not all spirits are those of the dead. They can be gods, angels, demons, nature spirits, or even the astral forms of other humans.

3. Where are they? A general feeling of where the spirit is, like where they are haunting or where they are from.

4. What do they want? A general feeling for the direction their wants are going.

5, 6, and 7. What steps would I have to take? A varying number of steps to gain what the spirit wants.

8. What’s in it for me? Helping spirits of different kinds takes energy. Anything from a gift of good luck to a bauble found on the street – in my readings, cups would be an emotional boon, pentacles are physical gifts, swords are gifts like good luck or some sudden understanding of something that confused you previously, and wands are magickal boons that make spells or intentions a bit more powerful.

Get to Know Your Deck Spread

Here’s a lovely spread for all of you out there who are new to tarot, recently received a new deck, struggle with bonding with your deck(s) and/or are having issues getting clear or understanding readings. Sometimes decks have personalities to them, they have their own likes, dislikes, alignments and even preferred ‘work’ to go into. They also often require bonding to get the most accurate smooth readings. I have explained before the differences in my decks and what they like to answer, and I know of others who struggle bonding or understanding who their decks are. This spread should be of help!

1. How is your deck feeling today? Are they in a good mood ready to work? Or are they just having an off bad day? I have found decks, like people, can have moody bad days. These days their readings may be harsher than usual or even not even slightly logical. Its good to see what mood your deck is in before using it for readings, especially readings for others (and especially if they are paying for them). This may also affect the questions they will wish to answer.

2. What element does your deck align with? All decks are different and some may align themselves with specific elements. Is your deck fire, water, earth, air, spirit or a combination of them? This may affect the manner which they read. Air decks may be more interested in giving creative advice and focus on individuality, free-spirited natures, the arts, and even love. Water decks tend to focus on emotions and seeking gentle fixes. Fire decks tend to be the most assertive, they are competitive, encouraging, brave, passionate but also tend to support the idea of feuds. Fire decks, also from my experience, tend to be very blunt about things. Earth aligned decks tend to be a bit calmer, they focus on bonds with people such as family and friendships. They also focus on careers, prosperity and money matters. Spirit decks, tend to like to do more of the ‘divine’. They focus on self-enlightenment, self discovery and communicating with supernatural forces, guides, and deities.

3. What Questions does your deck enjoy answering? Does your deck enjoy answering questions about love? Friends and family? Do they enjoy giving personal advice? Do they like money matters and career focuses. This could determine what questions they may be the most accurate and ones they will give the best advice on.

4. What Questions does your deck least like to answer? These are the questions they may not have the most accurate advice on. Such as my Rider deck greatly dislikes romance questions so I never use him for them because he will always just advice break-ups no matter the situation.

5. What is your deck’s current feelings towards you? Does your deck feel close to you? Is it a strong professional business bond? Or is it more like a friendship? Do they feel distant from you? Like you ignore them? Do they not understand you or feel like you are a stranger? Do you intimidate them?

6. How can you improve your relationship? How does your deck feel like you two can do to help build your relationship? Practice more or perhaps make spreads.

7. A Negative trait. Pretty self explanatory, this is a negative quality about your deck that it feels you have a right to know about. Take note that this is a negative trait in the mind and views of your deck, its something it feels is negative.

8. A Positive trait. Again, pretty self explanatory, this is a trait that your deck feels is a positive trait it has. Again, this is a trait seen as positive in its mind.

@thewrittenwitch and I really wanted to do some fairy tale inspired spreads.

This one is pretty easy. You put the tower at the top and the next tier is things that are going wrong and falling apart. The third tier is stuff that is actually positive about this situation. The stuff you’ll realize at the end of this all. The Happy Ending.

Please post your results and tag us all!

Happy reading!

I … I think I had a bit too much fun making this in gimp.

Anyway, The Princess Bride. If you’ve never read or seen it, all you need to know is that true love is the best thing in the world, next to cough drops, but also that life is pain, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Fortunately, this spread prepares you for both! Use it to test the strength of your current relationship, or as a forecast for possible things to come. Or whatever. I’m not your boss.

1) Once upon a time – the beginning of your relationship. This might represent one of you, both, all, or it could be referring to the circumstances that brought you together.

2) The Foundation – what your relationship is built upon, what gives the relationship strength.

3) The First Trial – Relationships have their ups and downs. This is a down, and you might want to prepare for it.

4) The Mask – An aspect of your Love(s) that you may not be aware of.

5) The Prince – A person, persons, or perhaps just an unfortunate set of circumstances, that pose a threat to your relationship.

6) The Second Trial – Another issue you might want to prepare for. The issue will likely be connected to the Prince card.

7) The Friends – Unlike the Prince, this card represents the forces that help keep your relationship together.

8) Happily Ever After – Where will this relationship end up?

I tested this spread on the main characters – Westley and Buttercup, and got a hilariously accurate result, so hopefully the spread will do good by the rest of y’all, too.
