Oh no, hellboundwitch is at it again~~

I’m calling it the Pokeball Spread, for now, as this is what happens when I spend all day playing Pokemon and thinking about my cards.

I’m REALLY interested in how this spread works for other people! (Especially douglasiana and their Pokemon TCG Oracle…) Spreads I make for myself, like this one, tend to be either somewhat vague in their positioning (so that I can get the most out of the cards) or too specific to be useful to anyone else, haha.

I’ll also be referring to the Deck of 1000 Spreads, which I’ve fangirled already here, as I used it to help me lay out the spread.

#

Card One is the pokemon. This is what’s hidden inside. The whole question for me here is…what’s there? Do I unleash it? If I want to, how? The spread will go on to address those questions.

But for now, I want to know…what do I have that’s going to get me through this? Which pokemon is going to win this battle for me?

In laying this spread out with the Deck of 1000 Spreads, I used the Situation card for this position – it’s one of my favourites.

Card Two is the release button. This is what you need to do in order to bring the pokemon out. I find this sort of especially helpful in a hopeless situation, because you’re like “Okay so ~supposedly~ I have this inner strength to draw on, but how the hell am I going to bring THAT out?”

(It is entirely possible to kind of reverse these and be something that you need to capture, or hide, or acquire, by the way.)

I used the Crossing card here.

Card Three is part of the foundation of the pokeball. In my head, this is where the pokemon lives, haha. So we have the things that keep it safe and sheltered, which you’re gonna have to shake up in order to remove the pokemon.

In this card, the question is what are you going to need to change or get rid of in order to best implement the first card. I used the “What to Leave in the Past” card in this position.

Card Four, meanwhile, is what you should hold onto. Because you usually don’t want to throw the baby out with the bathwater, right? These two cards together will help form a kind of game plan for you.

I used the “What to Use in the Future” card for this.

Card Five is part of the top of the pokeball – what opens up and lets the pokemon free. So the question here is, what do I need to do in order to put all of these things to work? What action do I take? How do I use what I have?

Naturally enough, I used the “Action” card from the Deck of 1000 Spreads to represent this.

Card Six, our last card, is pretty straightfoward – it’s the Outcome card. (And, I’m sure it goes without saying that I used the “Outcome” card from the deck to finish us off here.)

ALSO, I want to thank blueamnesiac from deviantart, whose pokeball image I used in the spread picture!

I hope this spread works for you guys as much as it worked for me :D

Here’s a little spread I threw together to analyze attraction, whether it be towards another person, a hobby, a lifestyle, or what have you.

1 - The Roots: Source.
This card alludes to the past in some way - it may be a preference you’ve developed or a defining experience that is influencing the attraction. (What kind of “soil” is it rooted in?)
2 - The Stem: Substance.
This card indicates the quality of the attraction and how it’s currently manifesting. (Is it medicinal, or beneficial in some way? Is it poisonous, or invasive?)
3 - The Flower: Potential.
This card represents a potential outcome of exploring or pursuing this attraction. (Does it bear nourishing fruit, or beautiful flowers? Or thistles?)
4 - The Thorns: Shadow.
This card may illustrate something potentially harmful inherent in the attraction (or about the object of attraction itself) that’s being overshadowed by fantasy or otherwise overlooked. It could also be a personal quality or value that’s being neglected in favor of this attraction.
5 - Prune:
This card may point to where you’re being overly idealistic, or how the attraction may be interfering with other aspects of your life. It suggests where its influence may be getting out of control - where you might like to consider intervening or “cutting back”.
6 - Fertilize:
This card advises how you can tend to the attraction in a healthy, realistic way - some considerations or “nutrients” that might promote its growth.
