Sometimes life happens to get in the way of your craft. Often times, if this is the case, your communication and work with deity(ies) can deteriorate, which can affect the quality of your relationship with them. Here are some tips to help build back up that relationship (if you choose to do so).
- Practice divination to determine how the deity currently feels about you and the prospect of building back your relationship.
- Re-vamp (or at least hard-clean) your altar or devotional area to them. Don’t have a devotional area? Determine one! It can be simply a place at the foot of your bed where you pray to them or the window where you place flowers down for them.
- Pray to them, be very clear and humble when you describe the situation you were in.
- Research their symbols and integrate them into your life such as wearing their colors or displaying their flower in your living space, etc.
- Give them their favorite offerings!
- Build them a playlist of songs that make you think of them.
- Research more about them. There is bound to be more about them that you do not know about to learn.
- If, in the end, your efforts are not successful, and your divination and gut feelings tell you that you are not welcome, please be respectful.

I might have used this term in the past, but I now believe that there is such thing as a “baby witch”, just witches with different amounts of experience. Like I’m a programmer at my job with a team. When I started, my position wasn’t “baby programmer”, rather just “programmer” just like the more experienced members of my team.

Look, just like the fact that this quarantine is not a “writer’s retreat”, this quarantine is also not a witch’s festival or coven meet-up. Just because you are at home doesn’t automatically mean that you have to organize this big ritual or create a new sigil or spell every day. Those lists on how you can utilize this quarantine to your witchy benefit are great in theory (I made a whole post on some), don’t get me wrong, but don’t expect yourself to follow up on every item.

What are some things that I can do to help grow my empathic abilities?
- Meditate - Meditation aids in your focus, ability to feel and recognize energy, and boosts your psychic awareness.
- Practice with a friend - When you are with a friend, (with their permission), try to get a reading on their feelings and confirm with them if they are right. Are they happy? What do you feel they are happy about? Are they stressed? What could be stressing them out?
- Take time to analyze your own feelings - As an empath, it is important to be able to distinguish your own feelings from others. What are you feeling? Can you determine what is causing you to feel this way? Please note that this gets a bit more complicated if you suffer from mental illness.
- Learn shielding - As you grow your empathic abilities, you will soon come to realize that there are some feelings that you don’t want to absorb or perhaps, there are too many emotions around you. Learn to shield to protect yourself from these things. I like to visualize a shimmering bubble around me.
- Be patient - Almost everybody has the capability to experience and grow their abilities as an empath. Just like learning an instrument, however, it can take time to master. Trying to force it will just frustrate you and burn you out.
