i'm not the best with dragon age character meta, but a romanced dorian's letter from veilguard is like. making me so emotional.

one thing i remember distinctly about dorian's romance is that he wasn't very direct with vulnerable sentiment. he hides his real feelings beneath lighthearted teasing and jokes. it's to protect himself from getting hurt.

one moment that always stuck out to me: if the inquisitor isn't ready to sleep with him yet, instead of being offended, dorian's almost... moved? because that means the inquisitor isn't with him just for pleasure like he feared, but for a serious, long term relationship.

verbally, the most we get in inquisition from dorian is him calling the inquisitor amatus - a term of endearment that dorian never actually explains the meaning of. we never see a direct "i love you" per say.

so seeing this letter, especially the sincere, vulnerable sentiment of preferring a letter due to it being a physical object associated with his lover - "i love you, i love you, i love you"... literally what a fantastic little bit of writing and character development for dorian.

putting this here because you're so right. cole's commentary marks the start of dorian's development -

"Glittering to gloss a hidden hurt. Unlearning not to hope for more. Stumbling steps where the wall used to be."

while dorian's letter in veilguard marks the conclusion.

how to unlock all armour, casual, weapon appearances

if you are like me and want to enjoy having the armour you want for your rook right from the start, you can do so via this new cheat table by user zachillios.

follow these steps:

  • download cheat engine
  • download the datv cheat table
  • select the transmog code
  • open the datv cheat table, select everything and copy paste the transmog code
  • override/save
  • open cheat engine
  • load the cheat table
  • select file + open process
  • select datv while the game it's running
  • make sure to check the 'unlock all transmog options' in the cheat table
  • open the wardrobe

it works on armours, helmets, casual outfits, weapons, as well as those of companions:

for reference, your cheat table should look like this:

enjoy! 🖤

the thing about anders is he has literally everything except a writer that loves him. he is so compelling and interesting and has a lot of lore-compliant potential that can easily slot into any dragon age narrative seamlessly. but because the writers (and, truly, the world itself) loathes him, he can’t

there is something about being hated by the universe in both a watsonian and doylist sense.

anders was explicitly a character designed to be hated from his very inception (as he exists in da2, at least). that is the intended emotional response from his writing. however, that is simply not the narrative role he was meant to serve for the vast majority of the game— he’s a close friend (and potential lover) of the protagonist. therefore, everything he does is made retroactively reprehensible. the cause he champions, his abuse at the hands of the church, the sacrifices he made for the wardens, his tendency to push people away because he has learned that closeness is a liability he cannot afford, it’s all treated with an air of dismissal, as if they wrote every last line of dialogue while rolling their eyes. they allow no room for sympathy, and so his downward spiral cannot be tragic. it can only be evil. it can only be deserved.

not to mention the fact that they inadvertently gave him internalized homophobia because his role necessitated bisexuality but his writer is homophobic

Mage robes would get heavy when wet, and definitely would tangle around the body wearing them, so it's not only imo impossible to swim any decent distance with them, but also there's a high chance of drowning, especially in cold waters. THEREFORE Anders swam across lake Celenhad in his small clothes.

templars watching Anders takes off his robes on the lake's shore VS templars watching Anders swimming to freedom
